Maggie Moran, Democrat freeholder candidate Matt Doherty’s wife and former Governor Corzine’s Deputy Chief of Staff and campaign manager, wants the Monmouth GOP to stop telling Monmouth County voters that she and Matthew profited from the suffering of Jersey Shore residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Moran’s lawyer, Angelo Genova of the Newark law firm Genova Burns, LLC, sent a Cease and Desist Letter to the Monmouth County Republican Committee yesterday claiming that a mailer and TV commercial the GOP shared with Monmouth County voters this week is factually inaccurate and defames Moran. Genova also sent the letter to the Common Sense for Belmar blog, who published the mailer.
Genova must think that Shaun Golden, Chairman and Tom Szymanski, Executive Director of the Monmouth GOP, as well as Dave Schneck, publisher of Common Sense for Belmar, don’t read MoreMonmouthMusings.Art Gallagher | Filed under: 2016 Elections, Matt Doherty, Monmouth County News | Tags: 2016 Elections, Angelo Genova, AshBrit, AshBritt, AshBritt-Conti, Desperate Doherty, Dirty Doherty, Lawless Matt Doherty, Maggie Moran, Matt Doherty, Monmouth County News | 1 Comment »
In 2014, Doherty wrote a letter endorsing the work of Foward New Jersey, a coalition of unions and other special interest groups who will collect the $2 million per mile construction costs that the $.23 per gallon gas tax will fund. Forward New Jersey has been lobbying for the gas tax increase for almost two years and is waging a social media campaign to counter the grass-roots opposition to the tax increase as you are reading this article. The Asbury Park Press is peddling a story about Eatontown Mayor Dennis Connelly’s recent employment as the manager of the Motor Vehicle Commission office in Freehold. But other than a gadfly’s complaint about the position being a patronage job, The Asbury Park Press did not back up their sensational headline, Concern raised over Eatontown mayor’s new job, with any concerns.
What is the concern? It is a patronage job. If a Democrat is elected governor next year, Connelly, a Republican, will be out of the job. A Democrat will be appointed to that job. Will The Asbury Park Press be concerned then?
Connelly did not try to hide that he had taken a job with MVC. He announced it on facebook.
Last year, Freehold Borough Councilman Kevin Kane was a Democratic candidate for County Clerk. He got trounced by Clerk Christine Hanlon, the incumbent Republican. Four months later Kane landed a $65,000 per year job for Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop. Kane is boosting his pension credits from being a part time councilman with his new job. The Asbury Press did not express any concern about Kane’s new job. The Jersey Jounal/NJ.com was concerned.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Monmouth County, Monmouth County News, Opinion | Tags: Art Gallagher, Asbury Park Press, Christine Hanlon, Eatontown, Jeff Cantor, Lawless Matt Doherty, Maggie Moran, Matt Doherty, Mayor Dennis Connelly, Monmouth County News, Opinion, Rosemarie Peters, Sheriff Shaun Golden, Vincent Solomeno | 5 Comments »
Earlier this month Maggie Moran, former Governor Corzine’s campaign manager and Deputy Chief of Staff and the wife of Belmar Mayor “Lawless Matt” Doherty threatened to take legal action against us if we did not correct or retract a story wherein we claimed she worked for Ashbritt, the company that made millions cleaning up the Jersey Shore after Hurricane Sandy and the company Belmar hired after Dirty Doherty fired a local clean up contractor. We responded by publishing her lawyer’s letter and proof that Maggie worked on behalf of Ashbritt, in the form of marketing materials with Maggie’s name and phone number on it.
Yesterday, Monmouth County Democrat Chairman Vin Gopal, threatened to sue, not about something we wrote, but about something we might write.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Education, Matt Doherty, Middletown, Monmouth County News, Monmouth Democrats, Vin Gopal | Tags: Brenda Sue Fulton, Dr. Patricia Vari-Cartier, Dr. William George, Freeholder Director Tom Arnone, Goofy Gopal, Lawless Matt Doherty, Maggie Moran, Middletown Board of Education, Middletown High School North, Monmouth County News, Monmouth Democratic Chairman Vin Gopal, Monmouth Democrats, Patti May, Sue Fulton, Vincent Solomeno | 10 Comments »
Maggie Moran, the only Democrat political consultant/campaign manager to lose a statewide race in New Jersey in the last twenty years and the wife of Monmouth County freeholder candidate, Belmar Mayor “Lawless Matt” Doherty, denies that she did work for AshBritt Inc. during the aftermath in Superstorm Sandy, as has been reported by MoreMonmouthMusings and many other publications.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Matt Doherty, Monmouth County, Monmouth County News | Tags: Angelo J. Former Belmar Councilman Jim Bean filed an Ethics Complaint with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Local Finance Board against Mayor “Lawless Matt” Doherty on Friday, August 19, alleging that Doherty did not have the authorization of the Borough Council to grant a campaign donor permission to land a helicopter in the Borough or on Borough property. Additionally, Bean alleges that Doherty did not provide public notice nor notify Monmouth County officials of the temporary landing permit, as is required by the Department of Transportation when applying for said permit.
A copy of the Ethics Complaint can be found here.
Bean said that Dirty Doherty used “public resources to allow a campaign donor special privilege to land a helicopter in Belmar’s small but very populated Green Acres Silver Lake Park.”Art Gallagher | Filed under: Belmar, Department of Community Affairs, ethics, Matt Doherty, Monmouth County News | Tags: AshB, AshBrit Matt Doherty, AshBritt, AshBritt-Conti, Belmar, Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty, Belmar traffic, Department of Community Affairs, Dirty Doherty, Ethics Complaint, Helicopter, Helicopter landing in Belmar, Jim Bean, Lawless Matt Doherty, Maggie Moran, Monmouth County News, New Jersey Local Finance Board | 1 Comment »
Maggie Moran, the Managing Director of the Asbury Park based Democratic consulting firm Kivvit and the wife of Belmar Mayor “Lawless Matt” Doherty, announced on facebook yesterday that she has donated to the reelection campaign of Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Wasserman Schultz is the Chair of the Democratic National Committee until Friday. She announced her resignation after DNC emails that proved she rigged Hillary Clinton’s Democrat nomination for president were released. She was then named Honorary Chair of Clinton’s campaign.
That’s perfectly consistent with the Monmouth County Democrats’ ethos that it is OK to cheat and the ends justifies the means.admin | Filed under: 2016 Presidential Politics, Mike Doherty, Monmouth County News, Monmouth Democrats | Tags: #MonmouthStrong, 2016 Presidential politics, Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Dirty Doherty, Hillary Clinton, Lawless Matt Doherty, Maggie Moran, Monmouth County News, New Jersey | 1 Comment »

Belmar Councilman Jim Bean Lodges Ethics Complaint Against Mayor Matt Doherty Over AshBritt Contracts
Bean cites Local Finance Board’s Decision Against Marlboro Councilwoman Randi Marder To Support His Complaint
Doherty Dismisses Complaint As Politics
Belmar Councilman Jim Bean, a Republican, has written to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Local Finance Board requesting an investigation into a “potential violation” of New Jersey’s Local Government Ethics Law by Mayor Matt Doherty, a Democrat.
Doherty’s wife, Maggie Moran, a former Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Jon Corzine, worked as a consultant for AshBritt, the Florida company that performed debris removal throughout much of New Jersey after the Superstorm Sandy. Belmar paid $2.67 million to AshBrit and its affiliates, according to Bean’s complaint which can be found here.
Doherty said that Bean is “Belmar’s Bayshore Tea Party….a cancer on the Republican Party.”
“This is the second, politically motivated, baseless complaint Bean has filed against me in the past 8 months, ” Doherty said, “If he didn’t waste his time on this nonsense maybe he could actually do something useful for the people of Belmar.”Art Gallagher | Filed under: Belmar, Hurricane Sandy, Superstorm Sandy | Tags: AshBritt, Belmar, Ethics Complaint, Jim Bean, Lawless Matt Doherty, Local Finance Board, Maggie Moran, Marlboro Township, Matt Doherty, Randi Marder, Stavola | 5 Comments »
