Vietnam Hero Gets Silver Star 50 Years Late

Bart “Doc” Fabian, 71, a Veteran Army Medic of the Blackhorse Regiment (11th Armored Cavarly), received the Silver Star on July 18, 2020 for his heroic actions in Vietnam on April 13, 1969, during a ceremony at Congressman Chris Smith’s office in Freehold.

Murphy: If you don’t like his rules ‘go down to Georgia and see how that feels’

Gov. Phil Murphy had a new message Friday for critics who think his coronavirus restrictions in New Jersey are too harsh: Head south to Georgia, where the governor is suing Atlanta’s mayor for mandating face masks despite new cases ticking up across the state.

“If you don’t like our leadership here, why don’t you go down to Georgia and see how that feels,” Murphy said during his daily coronavirus briefing.

Gopal abstains on $10 billion borrowing bill – O’Scanlon sues to halt the borrowing

Senator Vin Gopal did not vote on the controversial bill passed and signed into law yesterday that allows Governor Phil Murphy and four Democrat legislators to borrow up to $9.9 billion without voter approval.

New Jersey’s Constitution requires voters to approve state government debt. New Jersey’s Courts, and therefore its Democrat legislators and Governors, treat the Constitution as book of aphorisms.

Despite passionate calls to add diversity to the process, the Legislature sent Gov. Phil Murphy legislation Thursday that gives a panel of four state lawmakers power to determine the fate of up to $9.9 billion in emergency borrowing.

Stephanie Schmid, the presumed Democrat nominee for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th District, reported to the Federal Election Commission that her campaign has $76,671.20 cash on hand as of June 30. The campaign raised $38, 775.95 and spent $14,101.97 between June 18 and June 30, according to the certified Form 3 which was received by the FEC at 11:18 p.m last night.

Mehta limps to victory in U.S.Senate primary

Now that all the votes that are going to be counted have been delivered, it looks as though Rik Mehta has survived his own embarrasing campaign and a spirited clown show by Hirsh Singh to win the Republican nomination of U.S. Senate.

There are late arriving and provisional ballots yet to be counted, but Mehta’s 11,290 vote margin against Singh will probably hold.

China sanctions Rep Chris Smith

China today announced sanctions against Congressman Chris Smith, Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz and Ambassador for Religious Freedom Sam Brownback, according to multiple media reports.

The sanctions, which are as yet unspecified, will “correspond” to sanctions imposed upon Chinese officials by the Trump Administration last week over the treatment of Uyghur Muslims in its Xinjiang region.
