The Arnone Report: Shark River Dredging and Healthy Eating Initiative Updates

By Monmouth County Freeholder Tom Arnone

Monmouth County Freeholder Tom Arnone

Happy November! With all of this warm weather recently, it’s hard to believe we’re just a few weeks away from celebrating the holidays. Either way, it’s a great time of the year and, as always, there is so much going on and so much to do in Monmouth County.

As we approach the end of the year, I would like to give a brief update on the second phase of the Shark River dredging project. As part of the second phase, dredge materials have been temporarily placed on Seaview Island until they are removed at the conclusion of the project next spring. The actual dredging process – which includes pumping the material onto the island to dry – was scheduled to be completed by the end of this year and I am pleased to announce the project remains on schedule. Why I’m voting for Ken Braswell and Rosemary Ryan for Highlands Council

By Art Gallagher

On Tuesday November 7, I will enthusiastically cast my vote for Highlands Borough Council for Ken Braswell and Rosemary Ryan.  If you live in Highlands, I hope you do too.

Ken and Rosemary are ‘new blood with experience,’ if that makes sense. They both have worked hard, as volunteers, for the Highlands community for many years while avoiding the often nasty political fray. They have both served our community unselfishly with dignity and respect for all. They truly are “level headed leaders.” Read the rest of this entry »

Dr. William George III, Ed. D., the Middletown Township Superintendent of Schools, today thanked Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon for his successful efforts in getting all of the $1,179,200 in state funding to Middletown schools that had been cut from the budget proposed by the Democrat majority in the legislature last spring.

Vincent Solomeno’s Lies

For the benefit of my readers from Hazlet who are still not convinced that Vincent Solomeno’s character assassination attempt on Mayor Sue Kiley is based upon outright lies, I visited Town Hall yesterday  to get the documentation which proves it.

As “proof” of his allegation that Kiley accepted an illegal campaign contribution from Maser Consulting during her first election in 2014 and then illegally appointed the firm Township Planner, Solomeno has been posting this clip of the Township’s pay to play ordinance: Read the rest of this entry »

In Middletown: Guadagno hits Murphy on ‘sanctuary state’

MIDDLETOWN — Republican gubernatorial candidate Kim Guadagno Wednesday returned to a campaign theme of slamming “sanctuary cities and states” when asked about Tuesday’s terror attack in New York, though that issue does not apply to what happened. The Republican also said she would “not jump to any conclusions” about a “diversity lottery system” for immigration that… Read the rest of this entry »

O’Scanlon releases detailed plan to cap property tax hikes and save cops and firefighters jobs

Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon

TRENTON, N.J. – A month after releasing his report of the Arbitration Award Task Force that recommends permanently extending the cap, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) proposed a comprehensive plan to ensure the policies continue to keep property taxes from rapidly increasing.  He released the following statement:

“If we’re going to be honest, as effective policy makers it’s incumbent upon us to do the hard work, master the facts and policy nuances before us, and present cogent proposals to the public and the legislature. This list of policy proposals is me doing my job.

“The inescapable logic of permanently tying the arbitration award cap to the property tax cap isn’t hard to grasp.  It is fourth-grade math.  Any candidate or legislator who claims he needs ‘more information’ or that ‘all the facts aren’t in’ is feigning, in most cases, stupidity to avoid responsibility. Parents try to teach their children to reject such self-demoralizing choices. Read the rest of this entry »
