Golden: Don’t use law enforcement to pursue marijuana agenda

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden issued a sharp criticism of Jersey City’s decision to unilaterally decriminalize marijuana possession last night via twitter:

Dangerous 4 Law Enforcement-At what point do cities/towns arbitrarily NOT enforce other state laws? Controlling what the PDs can/cannot enforce is a dangerous course action. Sheriff Golden Warns Of Fireworks Danger

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden is warning County residents of the dangers that fireworks pose to the lives and limbs of residents celebrating our nation’s Independence over the Fourth of July holiday.

“The result of fireworks being handled in the wrong way can cause serious injuries,” Sheriff Golden said. “It’s important to know that the danger is not only limited to general Fourth of July fireworks. Even sparklers, which are now exempt from the state’s fireworks ban, should be kept away from small children, as they can easily cause harm.”

Sheriff Golden, Freeholders, Call On Trenton To Stop Ripping Off 9-1-1 Fees

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Director Lillian Burry were joined by a bi-partisan group of municipal elected officials, as well as public safety officers, at the County Public Safety Center in Freehold this morning where they called upon Governor Phil Murphy and the State Legislature to restore the $.90 monthly tax on every cell phone line to its intended purpose…the funding of New Jersey’s 192 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). “Congenial” Republican Primary in Atlantic Highlands Gets Ugly

In early April the four candidates running for two Republican nominations for Atlantic Highlands Borough Council declared in a facebook group that they would hold a “congenial and productive primary strengthening our Party for 2018 and beyond.”  In early May the candidates said that they wanted the primary voters, “not individuals who want to wield control,” to choose the nominees.

The candidates, Penny Hofman-Morris, Richard Colangelo, Brian Boms, and Jim Murphy are all friends.   Colangelo and Murphy work together. Boms coaches youth sports with Colangelo and does business him.

Sheriff’s Office Accepting Youth Week Applications

Monmouth County high school aged children who are considering a career in law enforcement have an extraordinary opportunity this summer.  For the 26th year, the Sheriff’s Office is conducting it’s challenging Youth Week program.

Sheriff Shaun Golden today announced that the program will take place July 9-13 at the Monmouth County Police Academy in Freehold Township.  Applications are being accepted until June 9th.  Background checks will be performed on all applicants. Read the rest of this entry »

Sheriff Golden: Safety is top priority during the storm

With a significant winter storm expected to hit Monmouth County on Wednesday, March 7, Sheriff Shaun Golden and his team are warning County residents to be prepared, stay informed and to follow the direction of public safety officials.

“We will be doing our jobs and ask that residents continue to monitor the weather and follow the direction of public safety officials,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden, whose office runs OEM. “It’s expected to be a major storm, particularly Wednesday afternoon through the evening. Inmates Get Their High School Diplomas

Four inmates at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution got their high school diplomas today through an online program administered by the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission, according to a press release from Sheriff Shaun Golden.

“I am gratified by the commitment made by today’s graduates to use their time at MCCI in a constructive manner that will benefit them for the rest of their lives,” said Sheriff Golden. “The wrong choices that brought the graduates to MCCI have provided these individuals the opportunity to make right choices about furthering their education and changing their lives.” Read the rest of this entry »

Golden Congratulates Thomson, Thanks LD 30 Republicans and NJ GOP

Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden issued a statement this morning congratulating newly elected Assemblyman Ned Thomson on his victory at the special election last evening and thanking all involved for a successful and orderly convention.
