Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, in a facebook post on Tuesday evening, emphatically called upon Governor Phil Murphy to allow County officials to open the parks in their jurisdictions throughout New Jersey.
In an uncharacteristic rant to conclude his daily COVID-19 briefing on Saturday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy invoked a scene from the 1969 classic film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, while imploring Garden State residents to trust him like the characters played by Paul Newman and Robert Redford trusted each other when they jumped off a cliff rather than get gunned downed by authorities who were hunting down the outlaws.
The tumor Gov. Phil Murphy had surgically removed from his kidney earlier this month was deemed to be cancerous, his office told NJ Advance Media.
Tests showed it is clear cell renal cell cancer, the governor’s office said. It’s not surprising news given there was more than a 90 percent chance ahead of surgery that it would be malignant.

Gov. Phil Murphy will undergo surgery Wednesday morning to remove a likely cancerous tumor from his kidney.
Murphy, 62, revealed last month he was diagnosed with a 3-centimeter tumor on his left kidney that is 92 percent likely to be malignant. Doctors won’t know until after the surgery.
The governor’s office disclosed the date of the surgery late Tuesday.

Senator Declan O’Scanlon said that $54 million of new subsidies announced by Governor Phil Murphy to cover the rising cost of childcare due to an increased minimum wage highlights the pain caused by government mandated wage policies to both families and taxpayers.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – raising the minimum wage sounds lovely in theory but stings in reality,” O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) said. “While this $54 million childcare subsidy may seem great for a few qualifying families that are struggling to afford childcare, there are many other low- and middle-income families that won’t get a penny of help as their cost of living rises as a direct result of Governor Murphy’s minimum wage increases. “This budget won’t lift up the middle class. It will leave generations of New Jersey residents with no hope for a prosperous future.
“Even if the Governor’s rosy projections – of both revenue and savings – are accurate, we are still only a fraction of the way out of the hole we’re in.
“We can’t tax our way out of this mess. Without major reforms, it is a very real possibility that young public workers won’t even have a pension by the time they retire.
“I urge Governor Murphy to come to the table and hammer out a compromise with us. There is no other option,” Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) said.
