Why Ocean County Republicans Should Endorse David Richter

Ocean County Republican leaders will convene in Toms River this evening.

Their most important order of business will be to endorse a primary candidate for the nomination to challenge Democrat Congressman Andy Kim in the 3rd District.  The candidate they chose will appear on the June 2 primary ballot in the same column as President Donald J. Trump, the Party’s U.S. Senate candidate (likely Rik Mehta), Freeholder Joe Vicari and the local candidates for municipal offices throughout the Ocean portions of the district.

David Richter is the best candidate to take on Congressman Kim in the general election.

Gov. Murphy to undergo surgery Wednesday to remove likely cancerous tumor

Gov. Phil Murphy will undergo surgery Wednesday morning to remove a likely cancerous tumor from his kidney.

Murphy, 62, revealed last month he was diagnosed with a 3-centimeter tumor on his left kidney that is 92 percent likely to be malignant. Doctors won’t know until after the surgery.

The governor’s office disclosed the date of the surgery late Tuesday.

8 shivering dogs rescued in Neptune City after being found outside in cages and covered in feces

Eight sick and injured dogs living in cages in frigid conditions outside a Neptune City apartment complex were rescued over the weekend, officials said.

Neptune City police were called to the Brighton Arms apartments on West Sylvania Avenue early Saturday after someone called 911 to report excessive barking, according to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Christie and Murphy slugging it out on Twitter

Things started with former Gov. Chris Christie sharing an opinion piece on Twitter Monday that criticized Gov. Phil Murphy. And then it spiraled from there.

By the late afternoon, the current Democratic governor and the former Republican governor were mixing it up in a pretty feisty Twitter fight.

KFC closes its Neptune City location

KFC has closed its Neptune City location on Route 35, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press.The fast-food chain was located at 35 Third Ave. There was a sign on the door stating, “This restaurant is no longer open,” according to the report.“The KFC franchisee, who owns the restaurant located at 35 Third Ave., made a business decision to close the restaurant,” a KFC spokeswoman told NJ Advance Media. “While this is always a difficult decision, we appreciate the patronage of our loyal guests and hope they will visit other KFCs in the area.”The 2,400-square-foot property is currently up f… Read the rest of this entry »

Burry to propose that Monmouth become a Second Amendment Sanctuary County

Freeholder Lillian Burry will ask her colleagues on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders this afternoon to join the growing nationwide movement supporting the right of citizens to bear arms by declaring Monmouth a “Second Amendment Lawful Gun Owner County.”

Burry told MMM that she will introduce her resolution at the freeholders’ workshop meeting this afternoon at 1 p.m. and ask that it be added to the agenda for the regular meeting scheduled for 5 p.m.
