thats-all-folksManalapan Mayor Mary Ann Musich announced during a Township Committee meeting last night that the pigs that arrived at the farm at the corner of Route 33 and Millhurst Road on Tuesday were removed from the property by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Mayor Musich Expects To Take Legal Action To Stop The Pig Farming

It took about three weeks longer than the property owner expected, but there is a pig farm at the corner of Millhurst Road and Route 33 in the Township of Manalapan.

Joe Spano, the owner of the property announced last month that he was planning a pig farm for the property given the repeated failure of the Township Committee to approve any of the development proposals for the property.  The farm has been a low impact soy bean field for years.  Spano said he is under pressure from his bank to generate more revenue from the property.

Sen Beck: Public Massively Opposes New Gas Tax

beck-gas-tax-rallySenator Jennifer Beck renewed her opposition to a $.23 per gallon hike on the New Jersey gas tax and said that the deal struck between Governor Chris Christie, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto is a recycled version of previous legislation that thousands of New Jersey drivers rallied against.

“Residents, drivers and commuters rallied against this $2 billion gas tax plan the first time it was proposed in June,” said Beck. “Offering a recycled plan that tinkers around the edges doesn’t change the fact that the public massively opposes a 23 cent per gallon gas tax hike. I will continue to stand up and fight for the vast majority of the people of New Jersey who oppose this tax increase.”
