Ken Philmus, Security Taskforce Chair for the Jewish Federation and Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden address security measures with Jewish leaders
The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey announced that 16 Jewish organizations throughout Monmouth and Middlesex counties are among the 58 recipients statewide of nonprofit grants awarded by the Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program.
The grants are intended for security equipment, such as cameras and surveillance systems, lighting, card access readers, blast film, fencing and bollards (short posts used to protect an area against vehicles).
“In total, New Jersey-based applicants received $4.26 million, more than double than last year,” said Security Taskforce Chair for the Jewish Federation Ken Philmus. “The number of Jewish organizations receiving grants represents a five-fold increase from 2015. It will bring more than a million dollars in security upgrades to the Jewish community.”
The Federation worked closely with the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office on the security effort.

Monmouth County: Sheriff Shaun Golden wants all to prepare and plan prior to the impending storm that’s expected to travel up the east coast, beginning Friday, since it has the potential to cause severe weather in Monmouth County. It’s still too early to determine how much of an impact this Nor’easter can or will have at the Jersey Shore, however, Sheriff Golden, whose agency runs the Office of Emergency Management, says it’s important to take precautions now and have a family disaster plan ready.
“Preparing, planning and staying informed makes dealing with weather related events that may affect Monmouth County, much easier,” said Sheriff Golden. “Now is the time to take basic steps and plan what you will do if heavy snow, severe flooding and high winds occur or if power goes out for an extended period of time.”
People who live in flood prone areas are particularly being strongly urged to stay aware and plan, before the storm hits. Those residents have the highest risk for flooding, considering the impact of persistent on shore winds accompanied by increased storm surge.
Steps that residents can take are:

MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Township Health Department has received laboratory confirmation of a raccoon testing positive for Rabies. The animal had contact with a dog on December 24th, which required testing. The incident occurred in the area of Flomar Ave and Leonardville Road.
Residents should not be interacting with wildlife. If you come across a sick or injured animal, keep your distance and please contact Animal Control at 732-615-2097 immediately or contact the Police Department after hours and on weekends. Please make sure all domestic animals (dogs, cats, and livestock) are currently vaccinated with a Rabies shot. Do not let your pets run free off leash, even in the woods, to ensure they do not come in contact with wildlife that may be rabid. Remember, Rabies is a fatal disease. But most say the government not doing enough to protect US
West Long Branch, NJ – Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US receives little public support in to the latest national Monmouth University Poll. In fact, more Americans believe that radicalized US citizens pose a greater threat than terrorists who infiltrate our borders. At the same time, a majority support sending US ground troops to the Middle East to fight ISIS.
Few Americans (32%) believe the US government is doing enough to prevent a future terrorist attack on American soil, while 59% say it is not doing enough. The public was more divided in January, when 44% said the government was doing enough and 49% said it was not. However, they are not persuaded by a number of proposals put forth in recent weeks to stop such attacks.
Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the United States generates little support, even among his fellow Republicans. Just 26% of Americans are in favor of this idea while 67% are opposed. Majorities of Democrats (83%), independents (64%), and Republicans (52%) oppose such a ban. In fact, only those voters who specifically support Trump for the GOP nomination favor such a ban (61% to 29% opposed). Among other Republicans and Republican-leaning voters, nearly 2-in-3 (65%) oppose a ban on Muslims entering the country, with only 26% in favor.

Mayoral and Council Candidates Pledge Solutions, Not Grand Standing
Ira Goldberg, Sui Allex and John Dwyer
Marlboro, NJ- Ira Goldberg, the Republican candidate for mayor in Marlboro Township issues his congratulations to Middletown Mayor Stephanie Murray and the Middletown’s Township Committee for taking decisive action to bring accountability and fairness to their Township’s Property Tax Assessments in the wake of the Asbury Park Press investigation that shed a scandalous light on the state-mandated Assessment Demonstration Program, the controversial new method of setting property values in Monmouth County.
“While Marlboro Mayor Jon Hornik has been political grandstanding in the face of a scandal by calling for the ADP to be suspended without offering a replacement, my friends in Middletown have enacted a solution to inequitable tax assessments and put their own credibility on the line,” Goldberg said, “By firing Realty Data Systems, and bringing the home inspection and data collection functions in house, Middletown has offered a solution to the problem. That is leadership.”

Bakke Says Politico “Reporter” is Democratic Mouth Piece
“A mouth for the moth lover”
Press Release
East Brunswick, NJ- Synnove Bakke, a Republican candidate for New Jersey Assembly from Middlesex County responded to a recent hit piece on her by Politico-New Jersey reporter Matt Friedman with the following statement:
“The Columbia School of Journalism should demand it’s diploma back from Matt Friedman,” Bakke said. “He is not reporting, but rather is regurgitating opposition research paid for by Trenton Democrats and my opponent Nancy Pinkin. The PC nonsense that Friedman is posting on Poltico-NJ is worthy of a partisan blog, not a journalistic news site and I am shocked Assemblywoman Pinkin would condone this nonsense.”
“Friendman’s recent garbage never would have gotten past the editors of his former employers, the Star Ledger and PolitickerNJ, and that says a lot”, Bakke continued. “I’m not the only Republican he’s gone after. Friedman has been reporting Democratic opposition research as if it was original reporting for weeks.”
Friedman wrote on Poltico-New Jersey beta, an upstart division of the national Democratic leaning website, Politico, that Bakke tweeted that the United States should consider deporting Muslims and faces a “Muslim invasion,” and suggested that President Barack Obama is not an American.
“I have issued 33,000 tweets in the two years I have had that twitter account. That the Trenton Democrats paid someone to go through my tweets and come up with three politically incorrect entries is a sign that my true message is resonating with the voters of the 18th Legislative District.”
