Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider on Friday afternoon
Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said he was filled with a mix of positive emotions when I spoke with him on Friday, three days after he was defeated for reelection after twenty-eight years leading the city.
“I feel a sense of pride in a way I never have before since my work is now complete,” the mayor said. “A lot of pressure lifted, almost instantly gone. I didn’t even realize how much pressure.”
Schneider said his immediate plans are to put some work into his law practice before taking some time off with his wife, Pat. Then there will be summer days on the beach as he contemplates what is next for his career. “Sitting on the beach, reading book and taking a nap is my perfect summer day,” he said. “I hope to have lot of those this summer.”

Long Branch Mayor-elect John Pallone
Long Branch Mayor-elect John Pallone did not show up Tuesday night to celebrate his landslide victory over incumbent Mayor Adam Schneider because he had heart surgery earlier in the day.
Councilwoman Mary Jane Celli, one of Pallone’s running mates who was reelected on Tuesday, shocked the enthusiastic crowd of supporters gathered at the Italian American Memorial Association clubhouse on West End Ave. with her announcement that the mayor-elect had been hospitalized earlier in the day, according to a source who was present at the party.
The seriousness of the mayor-elect’s condition and his expected recovery time were not announced. Read the rest of this entry »

John Pallone is the only Long Branch mayoral candidate who has not responded to MMM’s request for an interview.
Mayor Adam Schneider’s interview has been viewed over 5,600 times since we posted it on Monday. Avery Grant’s interview has been viewed almost 2000 times since we posted yesterday. Voters are obviously engaged. In 2014, less than 3,000 votes were cast in the Long Branch mayoral election. This time it will probably be more than double that.
Other outlets have reported that Pallone is dodging questions from the media or that he wants the questions in advance. In the hopes that Pallone will call back for that interview, we’re posting questions we have for him:

“John Pallone is pathetic and so are all his running mates. They don’t care about anything. They haven’t been in this community working. We’re the ones making this a better city to live in. But I’m done being angry. It’s all about energy — which I’ll use right up to Election Day when we win.”

That was Mayor Adam Schneider speaking to supporters at his lower Broadway campaign headquarters after a recent evening of cold weather but satisfying voter feedback during his door-to-door visits.
“We’re hearing a lot of good things,” explained the man seeking an eighth four-year term as the chief executive of Long Branch. “They think the city is headed in the right direction.”
Clearly, it’s election season in the City of Long Branch. City voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 8 to elect a mayor and six council members.

Long hailed as one of the most talented up and comers in New Jersey politics, the Monmouth County Democratic Chairman from Long Branch appears poised to run against state Senator Jen Beck (D-11) in 2017. Beck will be a very tough out, but Gopal is a unique politician now emboldened by the loses last night of Beck’s running mates Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande.
That would be a fun race to cover!

Long Branch, NJ- Mayor Adam Schneider, a Democrat, today endorsed Republican Assemblywomen Mary Pat Angelini and Caroline Casagrande for reelection in New Jersey’s 11th Legislative District.
Schneider said that Angelini and Casagrande are partners that Monmouth County and Long Branch need in the Assembly.
“It means a lot to have two representatives that partnered with me to help Long Branch recover, rebuild and safeguard against future storms,” said Mayor Schneider. “Mary Pat and Caroline are dedicated, hardworking leaders that continually demonstrate their commitment to putting partisanship aside to protect our families, make our state more affordable and provide more opportunities for our children. I will be working hard to help them secure the support they need to continue to bring both parties together to solve problems.”
The 11th Legislative District, which includes Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Colts Neck, Deal, Eatontown, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Interlaken, Loch Arbour, Long Branch, Neptune City, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Red Bank, Shrewsbury Borough, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls, and West Long Branch, is the only district in New Jersey that is represented by an all female delegation in the legislature.
