Monmouth County Reorganizes

As we witnessed our federal government in crisis last week with the unthinkable riot on the Capitol incited by the President, government continued to work well here on the local level here, where we live.

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon was sworn in for her second five year term in office on Thursday during a socially distanced county reorganization meeting at Collins Arena at Brookdale Community College. Ross Licitra was sworn in for his first term as County Commissioner and Lillian Burry took the Oath of Office as a County Commissioner for the first time after serving five terms as a Freeholder–the same office with a new name.

Ciattarelli: Murphy is drunk on power

Jack Ciattarelli, the front runner for GOP nomination for governor of New Jersey, slammed Governor Phil Murphy as “drunk on power” after Murphy vetoed legislation that would have allowed restaurants to expand their outdoor footprints.

The legislation passed unanimously in the State Senate and Assembly.

Dopey Doug tries to link Ciattarelli to China and Hunter Biden

Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Steinhardt today likened his principal competitor for the GOP nomination, Jack Ciattarelli, to Hunter Biden, because Ciattarelli had investments in Chinese companies in 2016.

Cittarelli winning the Reorgs

Municipal reorganizations are a big deal for New Jersey elected officials, especially during a gubernatorial election year. Newly elected and reelected mayors, council and committee members, and fire chiefs are celebrated and their families are thanked by their communities for their sacrifice. The new officials make optimistic speeches about the future of the communities and big shots from state and county government show up to issue the Oaths of Office and pose for pictures.

In 2009 former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, not yet a declared candidate for Governor, was all over New Jersey swearing in mayors and council members on January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. His first stop was Middletown where he issued the Oath of Office to newly elected Committeeman Tony Fiore as Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger looked on.

Ciattarelli wins December

The race for the Republican nomination for Governor of New Jersey kicked off in December with dueling videos, social media posts, press releases and endorsements announced by the campaigns for Jack Ciatarelli and Doug Steinhardt.

Ciattarelli won the month and is a superior position going into the pre-nominating conventions, pre-primary season of January, February and March.
