Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Hirsh Singh told MMM that he has not complied with the Cease and Desist letter sent to him last week by the NJ Attorney General’s Office and that he thinks the letter might actually be a political dirty trick orchestrated by Bill Palatucci, New Jersey’s Republican National Committeeman and long term advisor to former Governor Chris Christie.

By Art Gallagher

Shaun Golden and U.S. Senate candidate Rik Mehta at the Golden Gala

Bill Palatucci, New Jersey’s Republican National Committeeman, was showing U.S. Senate candidate Rik Mehta around the Golden Era Gala on Friday night, which surprised me because Hirsh Singh has been touting the Republican National Commiteeman’s endorsement for the nomination to take on Senator Cory Booker for months.

“I’m trying to get Eli Manning to run,” I told Palatucci when he asked me if I knew Mehta.  Bill laughed and without missing a beat said, “Is that going to happen?  Just it case it doesn’t, you should know Rik Methta.” Read the rest of this entry »

Meissner forms exploratory committee for 2020 U.S. Senate race

Stuart Meissner, an attorney from Bergen County, announced today that he has formed an exploratory committee for the 2020 GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Cory Booker.

Booker, a Democrat candidate for the 2020 nomination to lose to President Trump, has not yet indicated if he will also seek reelection to the Senate.  Under a recent law signed by Governor Phil Murphy, it is now legal for a former Newark mayor to run for Senate and either President or Vice President simultaneously.

Meissner has run against Booker previously.  He was an Independent candidate in the 2013 special election that Governor Chris Christie scheduled for August to fill the vacancy which resulted upon the death of Senator Frank Lautenberg,  Meissner ran on a platform on alimony reform, according to NJ.com
