Morris May White, 22, of Scotch Plains, was arrested in Asbury Park on Sunday evening and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon after he pepper sprayed a transgender woman who was participating in a sign making event in preparation for Monday’s Stand Against Hate rally in the city, according to The Asbury Park Sun.
White’s arrest in not being treated as a hate crime, according to the report.
Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo, as Asbury Park Board of Education member and one of the organizers of the anti-hate rally characterized the incident as a “hate assault” on facebook. Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo, a Democratic candidate for Monmouth County Freeholder last year, has accepted a position as Director of Development at the New Jersey Audubon Society.
Working out of the non-profit’s Bernardsville headquarters, Grillo will be responsible for operations management, supervision of staff members overseeing membership, gift entry and prospect research. He will collaborate with the VP of Development in designing and implementing a fundraising strategy.
Monmouth Democratic Chairman Vin Gopal’s blog has not reported whether Grillo will be commuting over an hour each way to Bernardsville from his current home in Asbury Park or if he will move to the Somerset County town where there are no parking meters. During his campaign for Freeholder last year, Grillo complained that it is impossible to live in downtown Asbury Park without getting parking tickets. Starbuck’s, where Grillo’s wife works as a manager, has a store in Bernardsville. A shorter commute and free parking may prove compelling to the couple should the job work out for Joe.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Monmouth Democrats, Vin Gopal | Tags: Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo, Monmouth County Democrats, New Jersey Audubon Society, Vin Gopal | 14 Comments »
This morning we gave you the winners from the Battle for Monmouth. Without further adieu, the losers:
Vin Gopal. Underneath that boyish smile and pleasant demeanor is a nasty, dirty, ruthless political operative. The Monmouth Democratic Chairman showed his true colors in 2013 with his defamatory allegations against Sean DiSomma in the Red Bank Council race. Give him several hundred thousand dollars, which the NJ Democrats did this year, and he tries to destroy the good names of distinguished public servants simply because they hold offices he wants. Monmouth Republicans, particularly some in the legislative delegation, who are friendly with Gopal should reconsider their judgement about him. It no longer can be said that Vin is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He’s a wolf.
The NJ Democratic State Committee, Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin, Senator Cory Booker, Assemblyman Joe Cryan, various labor unions and anyone else who gave Gopal money. They got nothing for it.
The Asbury Park Press. Neptune Nudniks is no longer an appropriate moniker for them. They are not stupid or incompetent as “nudnik” implies. They are dishonest and lazy. Their coverage of the Monmouth County Freeholders race was spoon fed or edited by Gopal and his candidates Larry Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo. Gopal, Luttrell and Grillo used APP to counter MMM’s coverage of the race, which we find hilarious and complimentary. It didn’t work because APP no longer has influence in Monmouth County.
Their election night coverage was a disaster. While APP was reporting on software problems at the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, MMM was reporting election results.

With all districts and vote by mail ballots counted, Freeholder Director Lillian Burry and Deputy Director Gary Rich have been reelected.
After a major software snafu with the tabulation software that kept election officials up all night, the numbers were reported on County Clerk M. Claire French’s website at 6:13:58 this morning.

Monmouth County election officials said that it will likely take until 4am to complete the count of ballots in today’s election.
With approximately 60% of the vote counted, Republican Freeholders Lillian Burry and Gary Rich are leading Democratic challengers Lawrence Luttrell and Giueseppe “Joe” Grillo by over 6,000 votes.
Burry 51,211, Rich 51,594, Luttrell 45,123, Grillo 43,199.
MMM does not see a path for the Democrats to make up their deficit and calls the race for Burry and Rich.
Congratulations!Posted: November 5th, 2014 | Author: Art Gallagher | Filed under: Monmouth County | Tags: 2014 Elections, Gary Rich, Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo, Larry Luttrell, Lillian Burry, Monmouth County | 4 Comments »
The U.S. Senate race on top of the ballot between Senator Cory Booker and GOP nominee Jeff Bell has generated no excitement and little media attention.
The congressional races in CD 4 and CD 6 are not competitive.
The action, and the money, in the 2014 election cycle in Monmouth County has been in the Freeholder race where Democrats statewide have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a foothold in the county.
Republican incumbents Lillian Burry and Gary Rich have been fighting off a spirited and well funded challenge from Democrats Larry Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe’ Grillo. When all the money is counted, the Democrats will probably have outspent the Republicans by more than 2-1.Art Gallagher | Filed under: 2014 Elections, Monmouth County | Tags: 2014 Election. Trenton Democrats are funding the deception
Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder candidates Lawrence Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo have been saying on the stump that, should they be elected, they would govern the way they campaigned.
Given their latest campaign mailer, Luttrell and Grillo are promising to govern with trickery and deceit.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Gary Rich, Lillian Burry, Monmouth County, Monmouth Democrats | Tags: Gary Rich, Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo, Lawrence Luttrell, Lillian Burry, Monmouth County Democrats | 27 Comments »
Democratic Freeholder Candidates recount their arrests, Threaten Blogger
By Art Gallagher
Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder Candidate Lawrence W. Luttrell continued his assault on Freeholder Director Lillian Burry’s character tonight at a candidates forum in Middletown.
“There have been 10 indictments since Lillian Burry has been in office,” Luttrell declared at a League of Women Voters moderated debate sponsored by the Lincroft Village Green Association at the Lincroft Elementary School. “Monmouth County has a corruption problem, ” he said.
Luttrell rattled off 10 names, starting with former Freeholder Harry Larrison and six other Operation Bid Rig defendants who were arrested in February of 2005.
“Those people were gone before I got there,” Burry angrily shot back at Luttrell.
Burry was first elected to the Freeholder Board in November of 2005, nine months after the Operation Bid Rig arrests.Art Gallagher | Filed under: 2014 Elections, Monmouth County, Monmouth Democrats | Tags: Freeeholder Director Lillian Burry, Freeholder Gary Rich, Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo, Grillo arrest record, Larry Luttrell, Lawrence Luttrell, Lincroft Village Green Association, Lunging Larry Luttrell, Lying Larry Luttrell, Monmouth Democrats, Stephany Murray, Tony Fiore | 66 Comments »
