Hillary Clinton has opened a double digit lead over Donald Trump in a nationwide poll of likely voters released by Monmouth University today. Prior to the conventions, Clinton held a slim two point lead.
Both candidates remain unpopular, but the Democrat has a growing advantage on being seen as more temperamentally suited for the presidency. Still, Clinton’s email use remains a problem for her, while voters are divided on the impact of Trump’s attitude toward Russia. The poll also found that voters are less optimistic and enthusiastic about the 2016 election than they were one year ago.admin | Filed under: 2016 Presidential Politics, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Monmouth University Poll | Tags: 2016 Presidential politics, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Monmouth Poll, Monmouth Poll. In the Clinton universe a little email scandal should never be a career killer.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz will open and close the Democratic National Convention in Philadephia this week and then step down has Chair of the Democratic National Committee, ostensibly because of the leaked emails from the DNC proving that Clinton’s nomination was rigged by the committee and Bernie Sanders never had a chance.
It seems Wasserman Schultz’s apparent forced resignation is really just a transfer. Hillary Clinton announced this evening that Wasserman Schultz will become the Honorary Chair of the Democrat presidential campaign.Art Gallagher | Filed under: 2016 Presidential Politics, Hillary Clinton | Tags: 2016 Presidential politics, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democratic National Committee, Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton | Comments Off on Hillary names Wasserman Schultz her honorary campaign chair
AG Lynch closes Clinton email investigation; Sonnek-Schmelz blasts special rules for powerful insiders
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced this afternoon that she is closing the Hillary Clinton email investigation based upon the recommendation of FBI Director James Comey. “Late this afternoon, I met with FBI Director James Comey and career prosecutors and agents who conducted the investigation of Secretary Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email system during her time as Secretary of State,” Lynch said in a statement released on the Justice Department website. “I received and accepted their unanimous recommendation that the thorough, year-long investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope of the investigation.”
Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, the business man running for Congress against 28 year incumbent Frank Pallone in the Monmouth/Middlesex 6th District, said that Clinton’s free pass is more than enough reason to clear out partisan political puppets, like Pallone, from both political parties.Art Gallagher | Filed under: 2016 Congressional elections, Frank Pallone, Hillary Clinton, Monmouth County | Tags: Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, CD 6, FBI Director James Comey, Frank Pallone, Hillary Clinton, Middlesex County, Monmouth County, Monmouth County News, NJ CD 6 | Comments Off on AG Lynch closes Clinton email investigation; Sonnek-Schmelz blasts special rules for powerful insiders
Wikileaks released 1258 of Hillary Clinton’s emails yesterday. The website obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Request on February 29, 2016.
There are several Monmouth County connections in the emails released.
Congressman Chris Smith was mentioned in 87 of Clinton’s emails on subjects ranging from Sean Goldman being reunited with his father David of Tinton Falls after being abducted to Brazil by his mother, to the congressman’s opposition to tax payer funded abortions and Planned Parenthood funding. Emails that mentioned Smith revealed that the Secretary and other State Department officials were busy lobbying members of congress to pass the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) in late 2009 through its final passage in March in 2010.Art Gallagher | Filed under: Chris Smith, Hillary Clinton, Monmouth County, Monmouth County News | Tags: Congressman Chris Smith, Congressman Frank Pallone, Hillary's emails, Monmouth County News, WikiLeaks | 1 Comment »
