Arnone Endorses Burry and Impreveduto
Freeholder Tom Arnone announced his enthusiastic endorsement of Freeholder Director Lillian Burry in her bid for reelection and of Holmdel Committeeman Pat Impreveduto in his first run for a seat on the Monmouth County governing body.
“I could not be happier that my good friend Lillian Burry will continue to serve with me on the Board of Freeholders,” Arnone said. “No one works harder for the people of Monmouth County than Lillian Burry and no one is better at getting things done and making things happen.”
“Pat Impreveduto has proven himself as conservative leader on the municipal level, as a mayor and committeeman, a trait we share. I know we also share an intense work ethic and commitment to providing excellence in government while reducing spending and taxes. I look forward to the many contributions Pat will make to Monmouth County.”

Middle School Principal Resigns
Impreveduto Steps Down Amid Controversy

The Secaucus Board of Education held an emergency meeting Wednesday night at which board members accepted the resignation of Middle School Principal Pat Impreveduto.
In mid-September, just days after the school year began, Impreveduto fell in a school building and injured his back, according to school officials. He initially went out on worker’s compensation, then was out on paid sick leave after a doctor released him from worker’s comp on Nov. 17.
Despite being out on worker’s compensation and paid sick leave from his job, Impreveduto regularly attended meetings of the Holmdel Township Committee – the counterpart to the Secaucus Town Council – which typically meets twice a month. Impreveduto is a resident of Holmdel and that town’s deputy mayor.
Between September and December, Impreveduto missed only one Holmdel Township Committee meeting, said Holmdel officials. He even attended the Sept. 17 township meeting held just three days after his fall.
During his absence from Secaucus, Impreveduto continued to receive his full school salary, which sources have said was $180,000.
Was ‘given an opportunity to respond’
Throughout this episode, Schools Superintendent Cynthia Randina and School Administrator Ed Walkiewicz said they could not comment on when Impreveduto might return to work.
However, following a December article in the Secaucus Reporter about Impreveduto’s attendance at Holmdel meetings, the Board of Education decided to investigate Impreveduto’s activities, Randina said this past January.
Impreveduto declined to comment for that story.
“At the direction of our attorney, Stephen Fogarty, I have given Mr. Impreveduto an opportunity to respond to some of the comments that appeared in the newspaper,” Randina told the Reporter in January.
This past Thursday, Randina was in a meeting when called for a comment regarding Impreveduto’s resignation. She did not respond by press time.
Acting principal announced in December
Facing a leadership void created by Impreveduto’s absence, the Board of Education responded quickly.
Just before the holidays, the Secaucus Board of Education officially appointed Humanities Director Rob Daniello as acting Middle School principal in Impreveduto’s place. Daniello, who has certification to be a principal, had already been serving in the position in Impreveduto’s absence.
“Mr. Daniello certainly has a lengthy history in the school district as a teacher of English and as a teacher of English as a Second Language,” Randina said. “He has worked in both the High School and the Middle School environment. He knows the community very well, has an excellent demeanor, and he has the credentials to fill in in Mr. Impreveduto’s absence.”
Incident happened during transition
Impreveduto was frustrated with the district, sources said. This school year, he was expected to step into a new role as principal of the Middle School after having served for several years as the head of the High School.
His reassignment to the Middle School was part of a larger restructuring plan Randina put into effect over the summer.
Deidre Ertle, the former Clarendon School principal, took over as head of SHS this year. Former Middle School head Pasquale Cocucci became the principal at Clarendon, an elementary school. Huber Street School Principal Fred Ponti kept his position there.
When the change was first announced, Randina, who was hired last year, emphasized that these changes were not made to pass judgment on any of the principals, but rather to reinvigorate the learning environment.
“I think this is a great opportunity for everybody to look at things with in a different way,” Randina said at the time. “When you move principals around in a school district, they go into a situation with new eyes and a new attitude. So it’s like you’re giving everybody a fresh start.”
Impreveduto did not respond to a phone call for comment by press time this week.

this move.. we will see whether the powers that be are astute enough, to get past their agenda/ promises/ “new direction,” and play it safer, rather than jumping off the cliff into what could be shark- infested waters.
You are right not too late…… – Councilman Peter Doyle actually submitted his letter to run for Freeholder, (delivered to Colts Neck) but was encouraged not to run. He waited until Garry Rich decided not to run Four term Coucil. He is a West Point Graduate, MBA, CPA and works for a major rating agency in New York….. and it is not to late!!!
just because he doesn’t have the loudest voice or biggest ego, it might be a good idea now, to call Freeholder Rich, and ask if he can work out his employment and family issues, in order to be able to re- commit to campaign again, and continue serving on the Board. A good argument can easily be put forward to the voters, that the successful team of Burry/ Rich has initiated or helped many positive fiscal and lifestyle improvements to this county.
The scandal grows………outrageous!

SCANDAL! The Democrats will have a field day over this. Milking the system on the taxpayers dime!

Absent principal sworn in as deputy mayor in Holmdel

EXPLANATION, PLEASE – Schools Superintendent Cynthia Randina has asked Secaucus Middle School Principal Pat Impreveduto to respond to issues raised in Dec. by the Reporter.
While Secaucus Middle School Principal Pat Impreveduto remains on sick leave from his job here, he is still making regular appearances in Holmdel, where he lives, in accordance with his duties as deputy mayor there.
Impreveduto was again sworn in as Holmdel’s deputy mayor on Jan. 4. This was the latest in a string of public appearances he has made at official Holmdel functions since he fell and injured himself on school property on Sept. 14.
He went out on worker’s comp after his accident until he “was released back to work on Nov. 17, 2009 by the worker’s compensation doctor,” according to School Administrator Ed Walkiewicz. Since then, Impreveduto has been out on paid sick leave. He had 310 days of sick leave as of July 1, 2009, Walkiewicz told the Reporter last month.
Throughout his absence from school in Secaucus, however, Impreveduto has faithfully fulfilled his official duties as deputy mayor in Holmdel. He has regularly attended Holmdel Township Committee meetings, missing only one – on Nov. 5 – since his accident. He even attended a Sept. 17 township meeting held just three days after his fall.
“At the direction of our attorney, Stephen Fogarty, I have given Mr. Impreveduto an opportunity to respond to some of the comments that appeared in the newspaper,” said Schools Superintendent Cynthia Randina said last week.
Although the principal has been contacted, Randina said there is no deadline for him to respond to her questions.
It is likely that Impreveduto, who earns about $180,000, has not broken any laws but the matter does not look good for a school system that has requested, and received, big tax increases for the last two years – in the middle of a recession.
“If somebody is ill, generally speaking, a doctor will indicate the amount of time that person is expected to be out,” Randina said. “I consider everything on an individual basis. In the case of Mr. Impreveduto, I had every reason to believe that the communication from his doctor was accurate, and therefore I approved it.”
Impreveduto did not return calls to his Holmdel residence last week.
Last month, colleagues in Holmdel said they were unaware of Impreveduto’s accident in Secaucus, and one Township Committee member said he has not been seen with a cane, a walker, or other walking aid.
Daniello appointed acting principal. Despite Impreveduto’s absence, the Middle School is moving on.
Thus far, Impreveduto has not indicated when he might return to work, so it’s unclear how long Daniello may serve as acting principal.

Correction…….the story speaks to him having accumulated the sick time. This is a non-story and he is fine. Various sources have now confirmed NO issue. Good it was addressed now and resolved here long before the election!! NO ISSUE! Great news. Go Liliane and Pat!!
The plot seems to be thickening, and not in a good way.
And I suspect that includes the Popkin wing of the Republican Party, if you don’t like the way things are, why don’t you run for Chair? However, you know things are working, that we are winning and you wouldn’t have a chance in a Chair election.
BTW, that conspiracy theory crap about our new Freeholder Candidate is such a stretch and so weak. So, stop your bellyaching and do some work.
the man’s 6- paragraph intro letter to the county committee, (which must have been written, printed, stuffed, and mailed days ago,) only had the “I” word in it, 18 times….(?)
.. including yourself, “Brian:” you seem to be awfully defensive, once again, about your all-knowing and powerful “leadership”position: what makes you think anyone would want to commit virtual suicide by daring to ever consider any challenge to so much “winning,” “success,” and brilliance, that you repeatedly continue to herald? And, how dare you order anybody to “get to work,” when so much of yours, appears to be done( with increasing billing hours,) in the nearly empty back room, in the shadows, letting no light, or anyone but your chosen small clique, in! Way to continue to turn people off!
