Little not running against Pallone
Party leaders are encouraging Sheriff Shaun Golden to challenge entrenched ObamaCare defender
Former Highlands Mayor Anna Little told MMM yesterday that she is not running for Congress in New Jersey’s 6th congressional district this year and that she never had plans to do so.
The GOP nominee against Congressman Frank Pallone in 2010 and 2012 said that her November 1, 2012 email to supporters wherein she announced “I want to work for YOU in Washington” and asked supporters for contributions to help her “finish the job” was not an announcement of her candidacy, but rather a reaction to Pallone’s over the top defense of ObamaCare . In October, Pallone called a congressional hearing into ObamaCare that he was participating in a “Monkey Court.” Appearing on FoxNews with Megyn Kelly, Pallone shouted, insisting that President Obama had kept his, “If you like your healthcare, you can keep it, period, I guarantee it,” promise and said insurance companies were practicing capitalism by cancelling “lousy” “scam” insurance plans that people didn’t want to buy.
Sheriff Shaun Golden’s strong performance in last November’s election …a 64%-36% reelection victory with over 100,000 votes… was noticed by state and national Republican leaders, many of whom are encouraging Golden to take on Pallone.
The two Republican leaders who matter the most in determining who receives the GOP nomination, Monmouth County Republican Chairman John Bennett and Middlesex County Republican Chairman Sam Thompson, like the idea of Golden running against Pallone.
“I would love to see Shaun Golden run for Congress, ” Bennett said, ‘Not only is popular and a demonstrated vote getter, he has an outstanding record with a documented ability to get things done.”
Thompson said, “Shaun would be a great candidate.”
Little said she would support Golden if he runs.
Golden wouldn’t comment when we asked if he was running.
Wonderful Idea. “I’m In @ 110% For Sean!”
My only concern is would he want it to do it though at this point? His family is young after all.
Jim Granelli
P.S. of course, we know Sage is probably roiling at the idea.
What are his positions on
Immagration Reform
Obamacare(what is his alternative)
Debt reduction
Second amend rights
etc..
I don’t support someone just because they have an R after their name and I do not see that much spending reductions over in the Sheriffs office. Let him earn my vote. He wont just get it because he won for Sheriff by a wide margin or just by showing up on the ballot with an R after his name.
Why should I vote for him and don’t tell me he is a good Sheriff. I want proof of his record……
What is Shaun Golden’s view of the Sandy Relief Aid? Second amendment rights? What about the pension controversy at the Sheriff’s Office? haven’t heard him say a peep about that. If I recall, didn’t he place someone in a position that didn’t exist? What’s with that?
Yep, just because you have a “R” doesn’t mean some blind road I have to follow.
It sounds like the above two comments just could be coming from Tea Party folks.
If so, or whomever you are; if you folks that are already beating him up can’t see that he’s a quality guy; and could be the best candidate we EVER had against an extremely liberal Frank Pallone; you really ought to have your heads examined.
BTW, you DO know that Pallone was a primary writer of the Obamacare bill right?
So, why are you trying to shoot his feet off before the poor guy has even announced, IF he’s going to announce. Sure, vet all candidates but come on; there are no pure candidates around these days.
And, if like the attacks on Kyrillos, you are looking for such; woe be the Republican Party in NJ because we will never win races if you are looking for the stamp of “100% ideologically pure.”
Maybe it’s just sour grapes that the BSTPG has no candidate since Anna has rightfully done the correct thing and bowed out.
Signed,
Silence Dogood, Redux
there are no pure candidates around these days…That could raise the money and win in NJ.
Silence
Shaun would have my backing!!
This is a very sad day for me. I was looking forward to a Tea Party ticket headed by Dr. Murray Sabrin or Jeff Bell for US Senate, Anna Little for Congress, and other Tea Party conservative candidates for freeholder and municipal offices.
I don’t know but I’m suspicious of any candidate so quickly endorsed by tax-and-spend RINOs like Sam Thompson and John Bennett.
Who cares what some from the bayshore “I got 10 percent of the vote in the primary” tea party thinks!?
Shuan is great but it is a suicide mission. The district is overwhelming democratic. Shuan might win Monmouth but will get killed in Middlesex. Also since he put an ass whipping on the tea baggers last June they will do everything to screw him.
I wouldn’t be too sure about getting killed in Middlesex. Shaun is a very personable guy, easy sell and you gotta know that if they work the Obamacare angle correctly; Pallone could be in trouble there.
Independents and Democrats are not exactly thrilled with it you know, Pallone wrote half the dang bill.
It’s definitely “doable.” Not necessarily impossible. Shaun could rally the kind of support we would need.
Mr. Decent Guy against Mr. Arrogance.
All he would have to do is come close or tie there in Middlesex and win Monmouth heavily. It could be that one opportunity to get rid of Pallone.
But, it’s just “one man’s opinion” though, and it’s really up to Shaun isn’t it everyone?
Jim Granelli
@Shut it Bulldog
You can shut The Bayshore Bulldog but you can’t shut the Tea Party or stop Conservatives from having their say over who will best represent them in Washington. We will listen with an open mind to what Sheriff Golden has to say about immigration, the second amendment, Obamacare, and how he intends to eliminate the national debt. But we will not be disrespected, intimidated or swayed by RINO elitists who think they know more than Conservative voters.
So, are you saying you want a perfect candidate and are willing to sit on your hands if you don’t get what you want, passing up the best chance in a long time to defeat Pallone, thus ending up with a liberal again?
How about WE will not be swayed by a bunch of people who just can’t seem to get their act together.
Although technically eligible as a NJ resident of the state I think he lives in Howell, Pallone will make hay of that.
Nobody’s perfect but we know we can do alot better than the RINO bosses and elitists like Sam Thompson, John Bennett and Joe Kyrillos, just like we know we would be alot better off if Dan Peters was elected sheriff instead of Shaun Golden.
Dog, you are spot on!!! the ONLY reason Golden did as well as he did because he, along with other Republicans in this county rode the coattails of Christie and Guadagno.
LOL, you think if the election were held today, there might be different results???
You betcha!! As Palin would say, LOL
Im very conservative myself, and if I could get rid of all the rino s I would. But with that said , we should focus on getting rid of the pallones , holt s , Obama s ,etc. the freeholders lowered taxes 6 million and made Monmouth a great place to live, why waste all that energy and money primary ing the shrieff and freeholders who are doing a good job, when we have mayors like Jon Hornik, who are feeding all his lawyer buddies, millions of dollars of tax payer money, and will be the next frank Pallone if we don’t do something about it. He has gone thought 25 million taxpayer dollars in just 6 years , amagine if he goes to a higher office, where he can spend hundreds of millions. Get to work in Marlboro where there is much wrong doing , instead if wasting all this energy on good individual s.
@ Barry
“He lives in Howell, Pallone will make hay of that.” How stupid is that comment?
Golden represents a large part of the 6th Congressional district. And when weighed against Obamacare, I think residency is a moot issue.
@Bulldog
Satire or not, you are very delusional to even write that Peters would have been better than Golden. And what, the voters of Monmouth County have agreed 3 times now? Put a sock in it and STFU
@ Trouble
Not sure, are you saying Golden should NOT run if he wants it? We’ve got an excellent under sheriff’s in Dawson and Donovan. I would go with Dawson.
@@ bulldog
You apparently caught what bullpup has.Golden cleaned the BSTPG’s clock in the primary. That’s all that needs to be said.
But you know, given a match up between Golden and Pallone, I am sure even Sarah Palin would pull the lever for Golden. So, stop sucking down the Tea Party kool aid.
Shaun won big last year, but this year is tough- remember, kids, whatever/ wherever the ballot in 2014 in NJ, we got the inevitable Guv’s gift to the Senate, dear Corey, right up there at the top to contend with..so, the more familiar names listed down-ballot,who already have good records and have already got name ID and votes, I say, back every one of ‘ em, to the hilt! Let’s GO!
The Tea Party will not be silenced, and RINO bosses do not tell us who to support and who not to support. If a real Conservative like Anna Little or Leigh Ann Bellew steps up and offers to run, then we will support them. As to Shaun Golden we’ll wait, hear what he has to say and keep an open mind. But in a competitive race whenever voters have a choice between a Liberal Democrat and a Liberal RINO, the Liberal Democrat wins every time.
[…] By Art Gallagher | MoreMonmouthMusings.com […]
Bulldog–I applaud you for your feistiness and independence from the usual party hacks. But to go one step further, you say you will wait to hear what Shaun Golden has to say. Quite frankly, I don’t think you will hear anything. This is all a ploy–one big trial balloon sent up by County Chairman Bennett.
Golden, is not a proven advocate for citizens and taxpayers alike. What has he said in favor of second amendment rights? What has he done for taxpayers? I read of correction officers making ridiculous amounts of overtime with salaries greater than that of the governor. I read of Golden placing people in positions that don’t exist. Isn’t Christie now paying the price for placing Wildstein in a made-up position? Here you had a position that never existed before–a position that never existed on the Table of Organization of the Port Authority–yet somehow they got this guy in at $150,000,000 per year.
Tell me the Golden story is not similar. I also read maybe, just maybe, we will get to the bottom of this Guadagno/Golden fraud perpetrated on the taxpayers real soon, once some records are finally released to the public–records the governor and lt. governor did not want you or I to see.
http://newjersey.watchdog.org/2014/02/06/guadagno-pension-probe/
give it up to the creeps we never get rid of, because you don’t like the NJ pension system. Without a proven name/winner/vote getter on the ballot for any office this year, the Dems win big. Period. Will you be so glad you stuck to your”principles” then? If you never change who is down there, you’ll never begin to change this country, as they destroy it every day-picking apart a person and not keeping fixed on the goal of changing the dynamic is why we are in the mess we’re in.
There’s nothing wrong with the NJ Pension system. Heck, I am a recipient of its intended function: to provide a yearly income (divided by 12) to those public workers who worked 30 or more years. Nothing big or extraordinary. I believe the average state pension is approximately 18,000.00 thousand dollars.
My big problem is people gaming the system–worse yet, using fraud to get a benefit they otherwise would not be able to receive. That does not seem to bother you.
Your obfuscating by blaming the “system.” It’s not the system–it’s the fraudsters!
Stop justifying what happened with Guadagno and Golden. Guadagno is getting a lot of grief right now. I believe its a matter of time with Golden.
I always find it curious why so many people have comments, but are unwilling to use their names. It also surprises me how much pettiness and childish comments are in many posts. I didn’t think that was the purpose of these forums and public debate.
Frank Pallone has become stale, if in fact he was ever really representing the people of his district. He needs to be challenged and hopefully replaced. It will only happen if we have a handful of quality candidates, follow the process, and then unite with the support necessary to take him down. What we have seen the last 10 cycles hasn’t worked so well. Let’s try something new for a change. Some National help and money would be welcomed to confront Pallone’s hefty war chest. Imagine if he actually had to show up for real debates with increased media coverage.
This would be a great race to watch. I have tremendous respect for Congressman Pallone and will vote for him. That said, Sheriff Golden has consistently impressed me as someone capable of making quick, sound decisions in the face of crisis (e.g., Sandy).
Golden is a great executive. Why send him to Congress?
A good friend of mine just shared a word with me, that word being “irrelevant.” And you know what folks, that’s exactly what Bulldog, the BSTPG and their sycophant commentators here are.
They have proved themselves to be so, time and time again. They are meaningless and I wonder why (myself included) we continue to pay them lip service and respond to their childishness.
Maybe we are frustrated with the BSTPG “mucking up” reality in NJ with their insipid and childlike posts. Maybe we are angry that it’s “my way or the highway for them,” otherwise they will sit out and risk a potentially great candidate not beating Pallone.
I’m not sure, but I suspect it’s somewhat close to that.
Yes, high ideals are great. We all need an effective plan to work towards more conservative leaders. But dealing in reality is the key. Practicality and pragmatism are the requirement considering the moderate demographics of the district.
You know, I don’t know just how Conservative Shaun Golden is. But I know him to be a good man, a family man. And folks, I’ll take that any day over ultra liberal Frank Pallone who wrote Obamacare.
And I would suspect that Shaun would come down pretty close to what the Tea Party people would like. But instead, they act like little narcissistic children with the meme of “we want our toys and we want them NOW.”
Which gets us back back to the topic of irrelevant, Bulldog and friends have no clue as to how to win big races. They have no clue about demographics and the fact that this is a blue NJ with many solid spots of red that still tend to be more moderate.
Again, I have NO freaking clue what our Sheriff would like to do and actually I wonder why he would want to do it, especially considering the likes of Bulldog already in his face.
But I sure as hell would be happy if he ran. Again, that’s his decision, not the likes of us and certainly not the likes of Bulldog and ilk trying to push him away.
Now, listen clearly Bulldog, et al. Ask your questions and find out what you want to know. But should any qualified and well respected candidate want to run for office, especially against Pallone, you sitting on the side just helps the Democrats.
Is that what you really want, to punish us because we don’t have a perfect candidate for you?
Start being RELEVANT to winning races and maybe you’ll earn more respect.
Jim Granelli
UNREAL. I say I want to learn more about a candidate and I get called names.
FOR THE RECORD I AM NOT A MEMBER OF THE TEA PARTY!!!!!
Maybe those that do not know what they are talking about should live up to their moniker and STAY SILENT.
What a bunch of lemmings. Go ahead vote for a person without finding out anything about them just beacuse they have an R after their name. Its attitudes like that, that give us the goverment we deserve. From both sides of the isle.
I for one will vet the people I vote for. I will find out to the best of my ability what they stand for. I will research the Sheriffs record to see how he spend my tax dollars and I will review his actions. Then I will vote. Its your problem not mine it you dont like the fact that I ask questions and do research on a candidate.
Because this guy was Sheriff does not necessary qualify him to be in Congress. I want to see his record.
I will not take YOUR word for it.
Furthermore…
I’m beating him up because I asked about his position on the issues?
I trying to shoot his feet off because I asked some questions?
GET REAL!
I hope Golden does not have as thin a skin as some of his supportors. The guy will never make it in politics if he does.
I usually agree with most of what this Silent person says but you must have hit your head yesterday.
Or maybe your hate for the Tea Party is blinding you. I could care less at this point. I going to keep posting my questions and posting what I find out about any candidate. Sorry if you dont like it.
You talking to ME?
Jim Granelli
Regardless of political affiliation, Shaun Golden is a class act.
Jim Granelli
Did you accuse me of being in the Tea Party just because I asked some questions about Golden?
Did you say that I’m beating him up or “shooting his feet off” for asking about his positions and record?
Did you say my comments are just coming from tea party folks?
Do you think I do not have the right to ask questions and vet who I vote for?
Do you think I should be a lemming and just vote for anyone with an R after their name?
Do you think that I said anything derogatory about Shaun Golden because I want to see what he is about?
Did you post that I do not think he is a class act beacuse I want to know his positions on the issues?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then I was talking to you If not then my post does not apply to you.
Your Call.
Where you referring to me when you said Bulldog and ilk trying to push him away, because I ask about the Candidate.
Again, if not then post not meant for you.
your call.
Republican in name and actions.
No, I just read your post fast as I was heading out the door and may not have read it properly, so I would would say that I jumped the shark on that. I really didn’t even mean to capitalize ME. I was on a push to get somewhere.
(Hey Art, wish you had a PM or edit option 😉 )
THAT said, most of everything that Silence said above seems to make sense with regards to the global situation. I guess everyone is just touchy about some of the BS that comes from the BSTPG.
If your thoughts and issues are pure, I have no problem with you. Me, I just believe, per my post above in pragmatism and reality; one step at a time. And from my perspective, seeing the results of the BSTPG (of which you may or may not be a member) they are the problem with regards to pragmatism and reality.
So, “peace out brother.”
As I said, wish there was an edit button.
Forgot to sign…
Jim Granelli
SO, you are talking to me, Silence; eh Republican?
I posted what I saw as a valid argument. It seems you are so touchy, so maybe the shoe fit?
If so, please, get over it. There’s a bigger picture to deal with.

(Note – NEVER Silent)
a bunch of stupid comments based on assumptions that I belong to an extremist group that is trying to hijack the Republican Party because I posted questions to a possible candidate for office. Unlike you I do not vote for a person just because they have an R next to their name.
You know what they say It’s better to remain “SILENCE” and be thought a fool rather than open ones mouth and remove all doubt.
There is a bigger issue here Who is Shaun Golden and why should he be elected to Congress? I will continue to ask about him and vet him. Whether you like it or not. Get over to it.
Sorry, but the comments I made and concerns I postulated are serious indeed, much as your concerns are.
They are equal in weight considering some of the attitudes expressed here by people who seem to be so judgmental. They are born of an attitude often exhibited here that NO candidate is good enough for a certain element in the Republican party and that element seems to shoot off feet before a race even gets started.
Those same elements attack Republicans and question the ideals of Republican Candidates without EVER daring to go after a Democrat. And that makes me sick.
So, those are indeed valid concerns I have had.
Now, maybe we got off on the wrong foot, but it’s nothing to go ballistic and get wound up about. If your feelings were hurt, you do indeed need to grow a thicker skin if it’s the political arena you wish to enter. It’s just not worth getting your shorts in a tightwad.
Now, if you are prepared to move on and look at the bigger picture, so am I.
Fair Enough?
Signed,
Silence Dogood, Redux.
The comment was directed at those who limp all pensioners into the same bunch as those who have gamed it and been pigs- ruins it for those who did their one job for a long time and earned their stipend- am just sick of some who latch onto one overblown gripe and let that beat to death the chance to take down a dangerous waste of an officeholder- when he finally has shown his real self and the damage he has inflicted, for too long- so, the plea to all wasting time, this early on, undercutting each other, and resorting to the personal name calling is: cut it out, grasp a winner, get behind them, work like hell, and make a CHANGE!!!
If you weren’t so incoherent, and used the proper grammatical structure, perhaps we would know what your talking about. I would like to think that you had quite a few Jack Daniels on the ice like I just did before I wrote this. Having said that, Shaun Golden is not the right guy to run for congress. He may be nice and affable–but again not the right guy.
Did you read the Star Ledger today? Just in case you haven’t heard the news, a judge today ordered certain records released regarding a pension scandal right here in little old Monmouth County! Can you imagine that! A good old pension scandal whereby our former sheriff and her handpicked successor had a big secret going on. One that they didn’t want you, the Freeholders, and the taxpayers to know about. They permitted a longtime county employee, and old time friend, a pension and salary. In case you haven’t heard, it’s against the law. Especially when you tell the Freeholders and the public that this particular person is being placed in a certain position–unfortunately the position never existed. Sounds eerily familiar–like Wildstein being placed in a made-up position in the Port Authority. The only difference is this: Wildstein had a position tailored made for him; The sheriff’s employee had a fake position–one that did not exist.
Now you may say, “Gee, Our Golden boy for Congress didn’t know about it–it was former Sheriff Guadagno who should shoulder the blame.” Perhaps, but you know what? her personally selected second-in-command should have known about it–wouldn’t you say? And if he didn’t know–don’t you think he should have known? (sounds like what CC is going through at Bridgegate)
When Shauny took over–he furthered the “crime” by permitting Kimmy’s friend to stay in the fake job.
You see my point here. Lovable, affable Shaun Golden—he’s just not the man. You don’t think the Democrats would have a field day on this?? Any hand picked successor of Guadagno–considering what she is currently going through–is not going to look good at all. It would be deemed “tainted.”
If Mr. Bennett is going to make this race competitive and take a swipe at finally toppling Pallone–he better start vetting stronger candidates.
just sing cumbaya until we see what happens as far as a potential candidate v. Pallone actually surfaces?
The Demorats are just sitting back laughing watching the firing squad here, most specifically those from the extreme for N.J. right wing of the party. What if only one candidate surfaces, what are you going to hang that person too and then sit aside not helping if that person isn’t perfect for you?
I for one am embarrassed by some of the comments here. My God, get a grip friends.
The elitist RINO’s will never stop bad- mouthing anyone who points out facts and actually wants to GAIN some seats..this continuum proves again only their view counts, and the only way they can feel like big and smart kids is to call others names.. Agree that the Dems just laugh and continue to win, largely because of Republicans killing off fellow Republicans.. Have another Jack or whatever else you accuse others who don’t,of drinking!
“Nope” just proved my point.
Silence.
[…] Golden has been considering a run, at the behest of party leaders, for several weeks, but has yet to make a decision. Sources close to the sheriff say he is leaning against running due to his agenda in the Sheriff’s Department and the impact a candidacy would have on his family.
