Democratic Platform: God and Jerusalem out. Taxpayer funded abortions, gay marriage in
What has happened to the party of Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy? Isn’t Jimmy Carter a born again Christian?
I can’t imagine the delegates in Charlotte knew what they were voting for last night. Like ObamaCare, they had to pass it to find out what was in it.
Senator Dick Durbin went on the offensive with FoxNews’s Bret Baier over the omission of “God” and “Jerusalem” rather than simply answer the question:
“God is not a franchise of the Republican Party.” This is the first time I’ve ever heard God referred to as a “franchise.”
New York Senator Chuck Schumer could not explan why “Jerusalem” was taken out of the platform. He said he does not know President Obama’s postion on Jerusalem. Charlie Rose is not buying what Schumer is selling:
Newark Mayor Cory Booker was co-chair of the platform committee. I sent him a tweet asking why “God” and “Jerusalem” were taken out of the platform. Hopefully Booker will be more forth coming than Durbin and Schumer.
That they probably couldn’t bus in enough black churches because the ministers are TICKED off over Obummer’s stance on gay marriage

One would think that there would be thousands of Obammaites waiting to see The Dear Leader.
There is pleanty of talk in the platform about “Faith” and faith based organizations. Don’t forget that not everyone who practices religion and prays is praying to “God” which is probably why the word “faith” is used…..next
No Bob, not next, in the sense you mean it.
The word “faith” is used in the platform primarily in reference to faith based organizations and the so called governmental “support” of those organizations that the platform calls for.
Government money cripples and corrupts faith based organizations and the faithful.
Because God frowns on baby-killers………….
I would imagine that God would also frown on 400 people controling more wealth than 50% of Americans combined. Another way of looking at it is that half of American households control less than 1% of the wealth…I don’t think God would be to happy with that either or be in favor of additonal tax breaks for that group.
Bob’s got his dancing shoes on. If you ever decide to use a pseudonym, Bob, may I suggest Fred Astaire.
1st of all, before changing the subject can you tell us why the Dems took “God” and “Jerusalem” out of their platform?
2nd) Who is proposing additional tax breaks for the wealthy?
Interested in redistribution? I kinda doubt that. My vision of God would lie along the line of “be the best that you can be” in all areas…
Not give away to the lazy. Give to the poor and sick, one thing. The lazy or those that try and game the system illegally, THAT’S another story.
As to God being removed, it’s just another step in the Dem plans to “totally transform” our country.
The non-answers given by Senator Dick Durbin and Senator Chuck Schumer, are unacceptable. I want to know why the words God and Jerusalem were removed from the Democratic Platform. I want to know the reasoning behind all the recent changes to the party’s platform.
Note in my previous comment I was not changing the subject just reponding to the commet directly above what I wrote regarding what the God I believe in might frown upon.
Regarding Jerusalem, I think an honost postion is that its final status will be resolved in negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Note that for domestic political purposes both D and R politicians have promised to move the Amercian Embasy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. George Bush was a recent example when in 2000 he promised to move the embasy “as soon as” he took office. By the Spring of 2001 just months after taking office, he signed a waiver putting off the move — a decision he reauthorized for the rest of his presidency….so much for campaign promises and party platforms.
So if it makes you feel any better that the R’s have something in their party platform that based on their history they would not unilaterally do, I can’t help you.
Tax breaks for the wealthy would come from what little is known abut the Romney Tax plan (would have been nice to hear more about that at the R convention…missed opportunity.)
In regards to all the socialist and redistribution of wealth bs, all the President wants to do is let the Bsuh tax cuts expire for the top 2%. The other 98% of the American people keep their tax cut.
As mentioned before, that (top 2%) group should have never gotten a tax cut in the first place at a time that the country was getting involved in two unpaid for wars that no budget provisions were ever made to pay for. That would make the top rate the Clinton rate which by the way was the last time the country had a yearly budget surplus.
Since we have heard a lot about the US Constitution this year I should point out that it does not contain the word “God.”…..the founders were pretty smart guys so there was probably a good reason for that.
By golly, Bob you are right!
The US Constitution also does not contain the terms “abortion,” “privacy,” “Jerusalem,” “marriage,” or “traffic light.”
Why were “God” and “Jerusalem” omitted from the Dem platform?
Mayor Booker has not gotten back to me on that yet. Got twitter? Ask him @CoryBooker
