Republican gains continue in Monmouth returns

Monmouth County Republicans have recovered from the shock of seeing Democrats leading the ballot counts on Election Day and are getting ready to celebrate.

With 296,966 ballots reported at 5:05 on Friday afternoon, Republican County candidates are showing the dominant leads that the GOP has enjoyed in Monmouth for many years.

Golden reelected Monmouth GOP Chair, Says NJ GOP Chairman is Impudent and Ineffective

Shaun Golden, the Monmouth County Sheriff, was reelected Chairman of the Monmouth GOP on Tuesday evening during a convention of the County Committee conducted via Zoom. He was unopposed for his fourth two year term as Chairman.

Golden had harsh words for NJ Republican Chairman Doug Steinhardt during his remarks to the County Committee.

Rik Mehta wins U.S. Senate endorsement from Monmouth GOP

Dr. Rikin Mehta was endorsed by the Monmouth County Republican Committee for the GOP nomination to unseat Senator Cory Booker this morning at the committee’s annual nominating convention at iPlayAmerica in Freehold Township.

Mehta bested Natalie Rivera and Hirsh Singh, earning 56% (128) of the 230 votes cast. Rivera won the support of 32% (74) of the delegates and Singh 12% (28). 12 delegates present did not cast a vote in the U.S. Senate contest, according to parliamentarian John Lane.

The pharmaceutical entrepreneur/regulator and attorney is undefeated in County GOP contests after also winning Burlington County’s endorsement this morning. He has previously won the endorsements to the Union, Somerset, Hunterdon and Camden GOP organizations.

900 + Celebrate the Golden Era at Sheriff’s Winter Gala

Over 900 of Shaun Golden’s friends, family, supporters and potential adversaries showed up for the Sherrif’s 9th annual winter gala at Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale on Friday night.

Always an exciting event, there was an additional energy this year as a rumor spread throughout political circles that Golden would announce his intention to run for governor in 2021.

Hanlon will seek second term as Monmouth County Clerk

Christine Giordano Hanlon announced that she is seeking a second term as Monmouth County Clerk and that she will seek the Republican nomination at the Monmouth GOP convention on Feburary 8 at iPlayAmerica in Freehold.

“I am excited to announce my intention to run for re-election as Monmouth County Clerk. It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the residents of Monmouth County for the past five years in this capacity and I look forward to the next five year term with many more ideas and the enthusiasm to continue to build upon the successes we have had.”

Burry files for reelection for her 6th term on the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders

Monmouth County Freeholder Lillian G. Burry has submitted the required petitions to seek the Monmouth County Republican Committee’s endorsement for her 6th term on the Board.

First elected in the wake of U.S. Attorney Chris Christie’s Operation Bid Rig II in 2005, Burry has been a leader in the transformation of Monmouth County government and the Monmouth GOP from a corrupt swamp to a beacon of good government. In 2005 , the Asbury Park Press had an ongoing investigative series, Club Monmouth, into the wasteful patronage of Monmouth County government.  This year, the APP editorial board said, “It isn’t easy finding major weaknesses in the way the county has been run in recent years. Spending has been kept in check and the county has maintained a triple-A bond rating. It takes shared services between towns seriously and it has made concerted efforts to improve the climate for small businesses.  The county also has one of the finest park systems in the state.” Lillian Burry has been a huge contributor to the reforms which warranted those accolades from a critical source. Licitra is running for Monmouth County Freeholder

Ross Licitra can’t get elected dogcatcher, because NJ does not elect dogcatchers, but he is likely to be elected Monmouth County Freeholder in November.

The Executive Director and Chief Humane Law Enforcement Officer of the Monmouth SPCA, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Freeholder this afternoon via press release.

Republicans Continue Golden Age Dominance In Monmouth County

COLTS NECK, NJ – With huge wins at the County level and 3 legislative districts, the Monmouth County Republican Committee had a decisively strong election night! At the top of the County ticket, Sheriff Shaun Golden won by over a 20 point margin. The GOP County freeholder candidates Tom Arnone and Nick DiRocco dominated as well.

On the local level, the GOP took control in Neptune City, Eatontown, and Atlantic Highlands, and flipped Mayoral seats to GOP in Sea Bright and Spring Lake Heights. The Republicans beat back challenges in Belmar, Hazlet and Shrewsbury Borough, and crushed the anti-law enforcement Democrats in Middletown, the largest municipality in the County, with a 2 to 1 margin. Rick Brandt Spent $30K so far in Little Silver GOP Primary

Candidate is acting as his own treasurer.  His numbers don’t add up

Richard Brandt, the 30 year old printing and packaging salesman challenging Little Silver Mayor Bob Neff in the June 4 Republican Primary has spent $29,297.74 in his quest for a portrait in borough hall, according to documents he filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC).

Brandt, who acts as his own campaign treasurer, says he raised $30,520.11 for his campaign, including $20,450 he loaned to the campaign himself.  He reported expenditures of $29,297.74 and cash on hand of $56, leaving $1,165.51 unaccounted for.  Additionally, at one place on his Form R-1 twenty-nine day report, he says the loaned the campaign $17,100, not the aggregate loans of $20,450 he reported elsewhere on the form, for a $3,350 revenue discrepancy.
