Feds charge Neptune City felon with possession of a machine gun

Devon Harley, 30, of Neptune City faces two federal charges of possession an Glock 26 9mm which had been altered to shoot automatically while being a convicted felon, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney

6,266 positive COVID-19 cases, 372 deaths in Monmouth County

Monmouth County has 70 new positive COVID-19 cases, for a total of 6,266 as of May 2, according to Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Director Sue Kiley. The NJ Department of Health reports that 372 County residents have succumbed to the virus.

‘It’s a make or break point.’ My restaurant can’t stay closed anymore, owner says.

Mary Pahira was proactive when the coronaviruspandemic began sweeping through New Jersey.

The 29-year-old owner of the Colts Neck General Store closed her business after Gov. Phil Murphy restricted restaurants to take-out and delivery service with an executive order on March 21. She laid off her staff, in the interest of their safety.

But Pahira, who is expecting her first child, said her savings are now on life support. Freeholders Plea: Maintain Social Distancing At Parks

Monmouth County’s Freeholders issued a statement on Friday begging residents to follow social distancing policies when the use County parks and golf courses this weekend.

“While we are very excited to see our County parks and golf courses reopen tomorrow morning, we are begging everyone to do the right thing and practice strict social distancing when you are at one of the parks or on a golf course. If an individual is not a member of your household, you should stay at least six feet away from them at all times.

Paul Smith Tributes

Paul J. Smith, the mayor of Union Beach, passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest at the age of 66 on April 30, 2020.

Smith was loved and respected by the many friends he made during his public service career which spanned five decades.

Paul J. Smith, the mayor of Union Beach, passed this afternoon at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was 66 years old.

Saliva Tests Available In Asbury Park, Freehold, Keyport and Red Bank

Monmouth County residents who fear having a swap stuck deep inside their nasal cavity as much as they fear the diagnosis of COVID-19 now have an alternative.

The Visting Nursing Service of Central Jersey Community Health Center is administering the recently approved saliva test, which was developed at Rutgers, at their Asbury Park location this week. The test will be available at their Freehold, Keyport and Red Bank locations next week.

Smith Announces $2 Million for Mental Health & Substance Abuse Grant for Ocean and Monmouth Counties


Lynn Regan and her son Daniel Regan of CFC Loud N Clear explain their treatment and recovery mission to Rep. Smith at their Relevance Behavioral Health site in Freehold Borough on Oct. 8.

A $2 million Mental Health & Substance Abuse Service (MHSAS) Grant was awarded to Eatontown-based CPC Behavioral Heathcare Monday, Congressman Chris Smith announced.

The funding follows a $200,000 MHSAS grant awarded to CFC Loud N Clear Foundation in Howell in March.
