Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Director Sue Kiley announced on Friday afternoon that there are now 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County,

Rep Chris Smith is supporting County Governments’ Work To Thwart The Spread of COVID-19

Monmouth County Freeholders Sue Kiley and Nick DiRocco, joined by County Administrator Teri O’Connor, briefed Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) on the work being done in Monmouth to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, as well as to help County residents deal with the stressors the pandemic may bring.

Smith said that though the County is limiting visitors to all offices, all golf courses, parks and open spaces remain open and may offer needed respite. The Freeholders also discuss the testing, screening and tracing being done, and also briefed the congressman on the bank of volunteers who are answering calls at the Monmouth County Health Department.

Four COVID-19 cases in Monmouth County, Officials responding and mitigating

Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone said that there are now four cases of COVID-19 in the County and that County officials are monitoring the situation and taking action to ensure the public health and safety residents.

Two of the presumptive positive cases are senior citizen females from Hazlet, 66 and 83,  who are clients of the Golden Age Adult Medical Day Care Center in Marlboro.

Holmdel patient does not have Coronavirus

The Bayshore Medical Center patient who was being monitored for Coronavirus has tested negative for the bug that has disrupted the world, the NJ Department of Health announced.

The announcement means that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey and that there are no others being monitored.

Monmouth County Deputy Freeholder Director Sue Kiley, the liaison to the  Heath Department, announced the good news on her facebook page and asked that the news be shared.

Monmouth County’s Government Partners with Fulfill for April Food Drive

Monmouth County Freeholder Sue Kiley announced the County’s annual food drive, in partnership with FulFill this afternoon.

Monmouth Freeholders’ 2019 Budget Is $44 million Less Than 2010

2019 Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders: Sue Kiley, Pat Impreveduto (Deputy Director), Tom Arnone (Director), Lillian Burry and Gerry Scharfenberger

The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently adopted their final budget of the decade.  In the ten years since the 2010 budget, annual spending for county government as declined by $43.8 million, 8.9%, according to an announcement by Freeholder Director Tom Arnone.

2010 was the year Arnone was first elected to the Freeholder Board and the year the GOP took back control of county government after two years of Democrat control. Read the rest of this entry »

Aagre not running for reelection in Hazlet

Hazlet Mayor Scott Aagre and former Senator Joe Kyrillos 

Mayor Scott Aagre has decided not to seek a sixth term on the Hazlet Township Committee, GOP Municipal Chairman Gene Kiley confirmed to MMM.

First elected in 2003, Aagre will have spent 15 years on the Hazlet governing body when he leaves office at the end of this year.

“Scott is a great public servant and a good friend to the people of Hazlet,” said Freeholder Sue Kiley, who served with Aagre from 2014 until she was sworn into her current office. “His wisdom and contributions will be missed.”

Republican Enthusiasm Abounds At Monmouth County Lincoln Day Dinner

It’s become a winter tradition that Monmouth County Republicans can mark their calendars by.  Shaun Golden’s annual Starry Night Celebration is on the last Friday of January followed by the Monmouth GOP’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner two weeks later.

The atmosphere was electric on Friday night in Freehold where over 500 enthusiastic Republicans gathered at Southgate Manor for the annual celebration of America’s first Republican president and the annual kickoff of signature gathering for candidates’ petitions.

New Jersey’s sole remaining Republican in Congress, Rep Chris Smith, received a spontaneous standing ovation when Golden noted his arrival from a Friday voting session in Washington.  Smith in turn acknowledged the strong Monmouth Republican team that held back the blue wave that swept the rest of New Jersey in last fall’s election and specifically congratulated Golden, not for politics, but for outstanding government.  The Sheriff was honored in Washington last year, Smith noted, for leading the best 911 call center in the country.
