A fox that attacked a pet dog in the vicinity of West Lincoln Ave in Oakhurst on June 7 has tested positive for rabies, according to a statement from the Ocean Township Police Department.
Rabies is fatal once symptoms develop.
The Monmouth County Regional Health Commission is asking all residents to take the following precautions to prevent rabies:

Frank DeBlasi, the top vote getter in the Republican primary in Marlboro eariler this month, has withdrawn as a candidate, according to a statement by Selika Josiah Gore, the Chair of the Township’s Republican Committee.
Gore said that DeBlasi withdrew because of unforeseen personal circumstances.
“Frank was a great candidate with a true desire to serve the public and bring new Republican Leadership to Marlboro,” said Gore, “While we regret his withdrawal, we appreciate his integrity. We hope to see his name on the ballot again in the future.”
The Marlboro Republican Committee will meet later this month to endorse to new candidate for council. Any Marlboro voter interested in running is invited to submit a resume and letter in intent to JoAnn Denton, the campaign manager for the 2015 Republican “Positively Marlboro” campaign.
Albert DeCresci, 86, a resident of the Seabrook retirement community in Tinton Falls and formerly of Rumson, was charged with Second Degree Sexual Assault and Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child after being caught in the act of sexually assaulting a 13 year old boy, according to a statement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
DeCresci was arrested in a Seabrook dining room by the Tinton Falls Police Department on June 5, 2015. He is in custody of the Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he is being held on $250,000 bail with no 10% option as set by Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen, J.S.C. O’Brien Kilgallen ordered that DeCresci have no contact with the alleged victim in the event that he makes bail.
Investigators are urging any additional victims to come forward by contacting Detective Delisa Brazile, of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-620-4045, or Detective Robert Wilson, of the Tinton Falls Police Department at 732-542-3400 ext. 443.

As of 3 p.m. all traffic into the borough from Route 35 is being diverted.
Iowa U.S. Senator Joni Ernst is coming to New Jersey next week as the headliner for a GOPAC fundraiser.
Ernst, a freshman senator who gave the Republican response to the State of the Union address in January, came to national prominence with her unconventional campaign ad.
