Legislation authored by Congressman Chris Smith that will help military veterans treat their PTSD through enhanced outdoor medical therapy and recreation passed in the U.S. Senate last night, the eve of Veterans Day, and is on its way to the White House to be signed into law.

New Jersey’s credit rating has taken a significant hit from a major Wall Street rating agency as the state is preparing to borrow more than $4 billion to sustain the budget during the coronavirus pandemic.
With 87% of the mail-in ballots counted, Monmouth County is one of only 7 New Jersey Counties that voted Republican in 2020.
Early returns in the unprecedented paper ballot election indicated that Democrats had scored an upset in the County that reliably votes Republican despite a registration advantage for Democrats. On Election Night, former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Cory Booker and the Democrat Freeholder candidates were leading the paper ballot count. Congressman Chris Smith and County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon were the only Republicans leading above the municipal level.
Congressman Chris Smith is leading Democrat Stephanie Schmid 59.2%-39.2% as of Friday afternoon and is expected to break the 60% threshold with the late reporting results throughout the 4th congressional district trending Republican.

Monmouth County Republicans have recovered from the shock of seeing Democrats leading the ballot counts on Election Day and are getting ready to celebrate.
With 296,966 ballots reported at 5:05 on Friday afternoon, Republican County candidates are showing the dominant leads that the GOP has enjoyed in Monmouth for many years.
UPDATE 4:40 p.m. : Afternoon results show substantially widening Republican lead
Republican Freeholder candidates Lillian Burry and Ross Licitra gained over 10,000 votes each in the Thursday afternoon update from the Monmouth County Board of Elections.
Democrats Michael Penna and Moira Nelson gained only 7,000-8,000.
The County race is trending Republican.
Republicans Lillian Burry and Ross Licitra are leading the ballot count in the Monmouth County Freeholder race following an upload of about 11,000 ballots on Thursday morning.
New Jersey released thousands of people from prisons Wednesday to try to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in corrections facilities, but questions remained about the state’s ability to support the public health needs of this vulnerable population.
