Curley asks for money and continued health insurance in exchange for his resignation

Freeholder John Curley is asking for a five figure payment and the continuation of his County provided health insurance in exchange for his resignation from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, according to multiple sources familiar with the proceedings which occurred in federal court in Trenton on Monday.

The settlement, if approved by the freeholders, would potentially cost Monmouth County taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars as the County self-insures.

Curley has reportedly been participating in the County’s health plan since his employment with his brother’s car dealership in Lakewood was severed last year. Read the rest of this entry »

Monmouth County Freeholders prevail in federal court. Will reschedule Curley’s Censure

UPDATED

Freeholder John Curley lost his bid in federal court today to prevent the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders from Censuring him and from updating the County’s sexual harassment and discrimination policy.

The Freeholders will reschedule the Special Meetings which were originally scheduled from this morning within the week.

Happy November! With all of this warm weather recently, it’s hard to believe we’re just a few weeks away from celebrating the holidays. Either way, it’s a great time of the year and, as always, there is so much going on and so much to do in Monmouth County.

As we approach the end of the year, I would like to give a brief update on the second phase of the Shark River dredging project. As part of the second phase, dredge materials have been temporarily placed on Seaview Island until they are removed at the conclusion of the project next spring. The actual dredging process – which includes pumping the material onto the island to dry – was scheduled to be completed by the end of this year and I am pleased to announce the project remains on schedule. As an elected official, you have the chance to meet hundreds of people during your tenure. I would like to share a story about a few special people I had the honor of recently meeting in person during a meeting of the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

It all started a couple weeks ago when I was reading through a local newspaper and came across a story about a charity event held to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. As part of the fundraiser, members of the community, including first responders, volunteered to have their heads shaved by children. The Monmouth County Board of Freeholders, in partnership with the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council, Brookdale Community College, and the State of New Jersey, are hosting a job fair at Brookdale’s Lincroft campus on Friday, September 29, from 10am till 1pm, Freeholder Serena DiMaso, Esq. announced today.
