Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Cory Booker has not released his tax returns, despite a promise to do so, according to the New York Post.
“We will release his tax returns,” vowed Booker campaign spokesman Kevin Griffis more than two weeks ago, yesterday claiming Booker “will continue to raise the bar on transparency — both in this election, and if elected, in the US Senate.”
GOP nominee Steve Lonegan provided three years of returns exclusively to The Post. The paper said that Lonegan earned $515,280 in 2012, mostly from property sales, and paid nearly $100,000 in federal taxes.
Lonegan said Booker is refusing to release his returns because he used his office, Newark Mayor, to accumulate personal wealth.
“It’s indicative of the fact that he’s got something to hide,” Lonegan told The Post. “It’s clear to me that Booker leveraged the office of mayor . . . to gain wealth.”
The Post has previously reported that Booker received an undisclosed amount in an equity payout from the law firm he was a partner in before being elected mayor. The payout was made from 2007 through 2011. During that time the firm, Trenk DiPasquale, collected more than $2 million in fees from local agencies that Booker has direct influence over.
The New York Times reported in May that Booker has earned $1.3 million in speaking fees since becoming mayor and that his Newark home is assessed at $406,000. He earns a salary of $174,496 as mayor.

During the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, it gave me and my neighbors great comfort when we were greeted by State Police Officers from Mississippi and Illinois when were coming back to Highlands. It felt good to know that fellow Americans from far away were here for us in our time of need; that trained police and other first responders were here to protect our lives and property along side our local police and first responders.
I’m not sure I would have felt as comforted if I had to pass through a checkpoint manned by armed Russian soldiers or police to get to my home.
That could happen in future disasters under an agreement that FEMA signed with the Russian Emergency Ministry last week, according to a press release by EMERCOM of Russian.
U.S. Senator Bob Menendez has another sex and influence scandal brewing.
This time Menendez is alleged to have had an affair with Cecilia Reynolds, the married publisher of the Freehold based Spanish language newspaper, Nosotros, and to have used the power of his office in an attempt to thwart the federal investigation into his friend, Anibal Acovedo Vila, while Vila was the governor of Puerto Rico, according to a report in The New York Post.
Menendez and Reynolds traveled to Vila’s isolated beach retreat on Puerto Rico in 2007, according NYPost, who report they are in possession of a nude photograph of Reynolds on the beach and another of the couple dressed in shorts with Menendez wrapping his arms around her waist. The photographs and other documentation were provided to NYPost and other media outlets by an anonymous tipster who Reynolds said is a former disgruntled business partner.
The boardwalk’s reconstruction began on Jan. 9. It required more than a half million screws, Mayor Matt Doherty said.
“I never thought I’d be so happy about a half million screws,” said Menendez, who noted Belmar plays a special role in the lives of the state’s residents. “We have preserved that New Jersey birthright.”
Menendez’s relationship with Melgen and allegations that the senator accepted free travel and other favors in exchange for undue influence remain the subject of a federal grand jury investigation.

The Dominican lawyer who represented the two women and the child who said they were paid to have sex with U. S. Senator Bob Menendez last April now says he four media outlets encouraged him to fabricate the allegations, according a a story first reported on Univision.
Unvision is one of the outlets accused by the lawyer of master minding the plot, along with CNN, Telemundo and The Daily Caller. The Daily Caller first reported the allegations, with video, that Menendez agreed to pay two Dominican prostitutes $500 for sex, but only paid them $100. The recanting lawyer, Melanio Fegueroa, said that someone named “Carlos” who claimed to be employed by The Daily Caller, offered him $5000 to fabricate the prostitution allegations. The Daily Caller denied paying for the story.
“It seems clear to me Figueroa is under pressure to change his story,” Daily Caller editor Tucker Carlson said Friday morning. “What I know for certain is this claim is a lie. The Daily Caller never paid anyone, was never asked to pay anyone and of course never would pay anyone for this story.”
No person by the name “Carlos” ever traveled to the Dominican Republic on TheDC’s behalf.
But The Daily Caller has learned that a man who identified himself as “Carlos” to ABC News was also the translator — provided by Figueroa — who appeared in TheDC’s late-October interviews. At no time did TheDC offer to compensate that individual. Following the interview, The Daily Caller independently verified the translations.
Menendez has denied the prostitution allegations and his calling for the investigation and prosecution of those responsible for his “smear.” Yet, the senator has refused a Dominican judge’s heed that he travel to the Caribbean country to testify.
A Breitbart reporter caught up with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez at Newark Penn Station last night. She asked him where he spent Easter last year and if he traveled on Dr. Salomon Melgen’s private jet over the holiday.
Menendez dodged the question. “Basically, the people who have all said that have all filed affidavits saying they lied.”
Three Dominican women have signed affidavits saying that they were paid to lie about having sex with Menendez in exchange for money. No one has alleged that those women piloted Melgen’s plane
A federal grand jury in Miami is investigating Menendez’s relationship with Melgen. Melgen, who contributed $700,000 to Menendez’s campaign coffers is under investigation for Medicare fraud. Menendez intervened with Medicare officials. He also put pressure on the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security to help Melgen’s Dominican port security company collect on a $500 million contract with the Dominican government.
As a United States Senator, Menendez is required to disclose and get Ethics Committee approval for expensive gifts like travel on a private jet. Prompted by NJ State Senator Sam Thompson’s ethics complaint, Menendez admitted in January of this year that he had traveled twice on Melgen’s jet in 2010. He then reimbursed Melgen $58,500 for those flights.
But Thompson’s complaint included an allegation that Menendez flew to the Dominican Republic on Melgen’s jet on Sunday April 8, 2012. Menendez has not accounted for that flight. He hasn’t denied being on that flight.
