Don’t Be Trashy, Recycle

Middletown Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger’s reverse 911 call encouraging township residents and businesses to recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and tin cans and glass containers, was the talk of Sissy’s Place in Belford today, according to Nancy Fix and Deb D’Alessio.

Fix and D”Alessio wait on the neighborhood eatery’s customers together on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays wearing matching T-shirts.   Today they wore their “Don’t Be Trashy, Recyle” shirts, which prompted conversation about the Mayor’s call.
Scharfenberger told MoreMonmouthMusings that the township’s revenue from recycling was down $400K from last year.  He and his colleagues on the township committee agreed promote recycling and expand paper products accepted in order to recover that revenue and hopefully increase it by $1 million per year.
“Recycling pays of twice.” said Scharfenberger,” the township receives revenue for the recycled products and tipping fees for trash are reduced as well.”   The Mayor encourages all residents to visit the website www.middletownnj.org/recycle to get clear on the recycling pick up schedules and accepted products.
Scharfenberger scoffed at the notion that the reverse 911 call coming three weeks before the election was political, “In all honesty, making the call was Seans Byrnes’ idea.”

Sipprelle Earns Endorsement of Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA)

Princeton, October 13, 2010 – Calling incumbent Congressman Rush Holt (NJ-12) a “disaster” on issues affecting saltwater fishermen, the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) formally endorsed challenger Scott Sipprelle for Congress in the 12th District.

The RFA has a history of endorsing both Republicans and Democrats running for office.

“We are proud to Scott Sipprelle for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th District,” said RFA Executive Director Jim Donofrio. “Congressman Holt has been a disaster for anyone who fishes in saltwater and the small business owners who makes their living off of the sport fishing industry. Frankly, Congressman Holt has been MIA on all of our fishery and coastal issues. In clear conflict with the district he is supposed to represent, Congressman Holt continually sides with the radical environmentalists whose mission it is infringe upon our rights as fishermen and small business owners.”

“I am humbled by the support I’ve received from fisherman and sportsmen all across Central Jersey,” said Sipprelle, who called the RFA’s endorsement “critical” in Monmouth County. “As a Congressman, I pledge to recognize the importance of my constituents who fish and the small businesses they support. I look forward to working with respected organizations like the RFA to manage our nations’ fisheries with sound science, support reforming arbitrary fishing laws, and backing candidates for the Mid Atlantic Fishery Management Council that best represent the interests of our fishing community and their businesses.”

LITTLE: I GET IT. DOES PALLONE?

(HIGHLANDS, October 13) – Republican Congressional challenger Anna Little – an independent wife and mother who, unlike her 22-year incumbent opponent, Frank Pallone, has never voted for, and will never vote for, Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House of Representatives – today reiterated that she “gets it,” and asked if her opponent even understands the term.

“People greet me all the time when we’re out knocking on doors,” said Little, “and household after household, I hear the same thing – ‘Anna, you get it.’

“When working families in the Sixth District tell me they’re having a hard time making ends meet, I get it.

“When they tell me they’re upset that the politicians in Washington don’t seem to care about what their constituents back home think, I get it.

“When they share with me the difficulties of trying to make the mortgage payment, save for the kids’ braces and maybe put away a little something for college or even a weekend getaway down the Shore, I get it.

“When mothers tell me of their concerns over the government takeover of healthcare, and their fear that they’ll no longer be able to see the doctor of their choice, whether for themselves or their children, I get it.

“When seniors tell me of their anger that the bill Frank Pallone voted for cuts Medicare by $500 billion, I get it.

“When I’m told that taxes are too high, and government spends too much, and we’re drowning in a river of red ink thanks to politicians like Frank Pallone, I get it.

“That’s why 200 people came out to walk with us in the Columbus Day Parade in Long Branch on Sunday,” continued Little. “But 200 people didn’t come out to walk with Frank Pallone. Fewer than a dozen did.

“I guess that’s because Frank just doesn’t get it. Does he even understand the term?

“Remember, you cannot change Washington without changing the people we send to Washington!”

Pallone’s Desperate Plea

By Art Gallagher

The Wave that started on the Jersey Shore  is rising to sweep Nancy Pelosi out of power and Frank Pallone and Rush Holt out of office.    Pallone is running scared.

During his interview with NJN last week, Pallone said the Tea Party’s anger is understandable but misplaced.  He said they should not be angry with him, rather they should be angry with banks, Wall Street and insurance companies.  Would that be the same insurance companies that contributed to his $4 million war chest?

Pallone told NJN he’s been fighting banks, Wall Street, oil companies and insurance companies for 22 years.  Now he says people should be angry with the people he’s been fighting instead of him.  That sounds to me like an admission that he hasn’t won a fight in 22 years.  He’s in the fight of his life now and he knows he’s losing.

Pallone sent a desperate plea to his supporters yesterday:

Dear Friend,

There’s only 3 weeks left until Election Day. On November 2nd voters will have to make an important decision – we can either continue to progress with crucial reforms, or we can turn back the clock to the failed Bush/Cheney policies which left our country in a devastating position.Would you please consider making a $21 donation for the last 21 days of this campaign?

My Tea Party-approved opponent is out-of-touch – she is more interested in ideology than working for the residents of the 6th District and New Jersey. I’m working to reign in the excesses of Wall Street with the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. I fought against offshore drilling on our beaches and shores, and this year we passed the most important reform to our health care system our generation has ever seen. My opponent would rather worry about what’s best for big businesses rather than New Jersey’s working families.

Although 3 weeks seems like a long time away, Election Day will be here before you know it. Can I count on your help reaching out to voters and helping in my campaign office? In this crucial time every hour you can give matters.

Thank you for all of your hard work.

Frank Pallone Jr.

PS. Please forward this message to 5 others to spread the word about my campaign of progress for the 6th District.

Continue the progress? What has he been doing for 22 years?

Pallone started airing his TV commericials this morning. They are weak and whining like he is. We have him on the ropes. Let’s knock him out.

Do your part. Give $21 or $2100 to Anna Little’s campaign. Do it now here

Then email this post to 21 people.

“America’s Governor”, Chris Christie, to rally with Anna Little in Piscataway

HIGHLANDS, NJ – 10/13/10 – As is par for the course with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, at just the right moment in the heated 6th District Congressional race the Governor will rally with Republican candidate for Congress, Anna Little, and her Army on Sunday, October 17th at the American Legion in Piscataway at 5:00 pm.

Anna’s Army will arrive en masse to greet the Governor, complete with “Anna’s Armada”, motorcycles and hundreds of cars, after spending the day in a grand caravan throughout the Middlesex, Union and Somerset parts of the District.

Governor Christie has been heard as saying that he is “so tired of Frank Pallone“. Displaying that knack for saying what everyone else is thinking, the Governor and Anna will rally the troops just 16 days away from what promises to be the most exciting 6th District Congressional race in memory.

Members of the press are encouraged to arrive early as the sheer number of volunteers attending the rally promises to be in the hundreds. The American Legion is located at 840 S. Washington Ave, Piscataway, New Jersey.

D’Amico: Cops are too lazy to do their jobs

By Art Gallagher

Freeholder John D’Amico told the Asbury Park Press Editorial board that should the Democrats win control of Monmouth County government on November 2 that the county will reopen the Youth Detention Center which the Republicans closed this year, saving the taxpayers $2.5 million annually.

D’Amico, who collects a $70,500 state pension in addition to his Freeholder salary, said that the YDC should be reopened because some police officers are not executing warrants because they don’t want to make the trip to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center in North Brunswick which houses Monmouth’s juveniledelinquents under a shared services agreement.  D’Amico also reasoned the Monmouth YDC should be reopened because family, social workers and lawyers might be unable or unwilling to make the trip to North Brunswick.

Russian Mob Funding Byrnes and Whatshername’s Middletown Campaign

By Art Gallagher

It is come to MoreMonmouthMusings’ attention that the same Russian mob that looted Middletown’s bank accounts over Labor Day weekend could be funding the township committee campaign of Sean Byrnes and his running mate, Whatshername.

$13,000 of the $370,000 that the Slavic cyber looters made off with has yet to be recovered.

If the Middletown Democrats filed their October ELEC report, it was not published on ELEC’s website this afternoon.  Byrnes’ ELEC report says he’s only raised $150.00 for his campaign.  Whathername has raised only $3000.  So who’s paying for all those signs?   It could be the Russian mob!

I know. I’m being ridiculous.  About as ridiculous and David Axelrod and President Obama are when they say that the U. S. Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity are funding their anti-Democratic incumbent ads with foreign money.

I’m being as ridiculous as the Middletown Democrats were last year when the alleged that the Middletown GOP bribed and coerced Steve Massell into running for township committee last year.  I’m being as ridiculous as the Middletown Dems were last year when they claimed that the GOP township committee raised their salaries, after they gave up their stipends.

Smart Girl Politics, a national grassroots conservative women’s organization, is excited to announce its endorsement of Anna Little, candidate for U.S. Representative in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District.

“Smart Girl Politics views Anna Little as a woman who stood up to the establishment and won. As a Mayor and in her role as Freeholder, she has a proven track record of reducing spending and strategizing to encourage economic growth,” said Smart Girl Politics founder and president, Stacy Mott.

“Anna has worked in support of limited government and fiscal responsibility throughout her career in public service. Her ability to bring change to her community, while also balancing her role as a wife and mother, is a big part of what our organization believes in,” said Mott. “We see her as our ideal Smart Girl. She will stand up to twenty two years of big government, big spending, and big bureaucracy and be the representative in Congress that New Jersey’s 6th District deserves.”

New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District is currently held by Representative Frank Pallone, seeking his twelfth term. More information on Anna Little can be found at www.annalittleforcongress.com.
