Union Beach Video: The Destruction of Sandy

This video footage was shot by Captain Vincent Solomeno, NJ National Guard, on October 31, 2013 as he flew in a helicopter over his hometown of Union Beach.

Solomeno said that it took him months to watch the video, after the shock of witnessing the destruction first hand.  We are grateful that he shared it with us.

Christie At Manasquan Town Hall: FEMA will issue less severe elevation maps

Governor Chris Christie told a Manasquan Town Hall crowd of approximately 1200* that he expects FEMA will release an expedited set of flood elevation maps in “a few months” that will ease the height requirements from the Advisory Maps published in December, according to The Star Ledger.

Christie said he adopted the recommendations in FEMA’s advisory maps earlier this year for those who need guidelines now on how to rebuild. For those who can wait to rebuild, a new set of maps should be out “in a few more months” that he said will be less “aggressive” in placing homes in flood zones.

“I’m confident the maps are going to change,” he said to a crowd of more than 300 in the Manasquan High School gym. “The only thing I’m not confident about is when.”

* MMM has learned from someone at the Town Hall that the crowd was approximately 1200, not the 300 originally reported by The Star Ledger.

Gramiccioni Being Deployed to Afghanistan

CHRISTOPHER-J_-GRAMICCIONIActing Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni, a Navy Reserve JAG Lt. Commander, will be deployed to Afghanistan, according to a report on Middletown Patch.   He is to report for 9 month tour on active duty in August for combat zone training and will be sent overseas in September.

Gramiccioni joined the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in February of 2011 as First Assistant Prosecutor after a 9 year stint in the U.S. Attorney’s Office where he was part of Chris Christie’s team of federal prosecutors. Word in the legal community was that Gramiccioni was Christie’s first choice to replace Luis Valentin as prosecutor in 2010, but the Wall Township resident was 18 months short of the residency requirement.  Long time 1st Assistant Prosecutor Peter E. Warshaw, Jr was named prosecutor.  Once Gramiccioni met the residency requirements to be prosecutor, Warshaw was nominated to the Superior Court Bench and Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa appointed Gramiccioni Acting Prosecutor pending confirmation of his nomination by the State Senate.

In Afghanistan Gramiccioni will be assisting with setting up legal procedures and helping to establish a Western-like judicial system for detainees. He told Patch that he will monitor events at the office from the war zone, but that Richard E. Incremona, first assistant prosecutor and Kevin Clark, deputy first assistant prosecutor, would be running the day-to-day operation of the office.

Former Candidate Preparing To Challenge Golden for Monmouth County Sheriff

Dan Peters

Dan Peters

Dan Peters of Middletown has twice in the past filed to run in the Monmouth County GOP primary for Sheriff.

In 2007, Peters filed petitons to run for the seat which was being vacated by Joe Oxley, but he did not meet the residency requirement for the office.  Monmouth Beach Commissioner Kim Guadagno was nominated by the GOP and was elected Sheriff.

Peters threw his hat into the ring again in 2010, mounting an unsuccessful challenge to Shaun Golden who had replaced Guadagno when she became Lt. Governor.

Peters created the Dan Peters for Sheriff facebook page on March 1, 2013.  It would appear that he is preparing to make another run against Golden.

Bayshore Tea Party Group co-founder Barbara Gonzalez would not confirm or deny that Peters has the group’s backing.  She offered to ask Peters to call MMM.

Sheriff Golden is unopposed for the Monmouth Republican County Committee’s endorsement which be be formalized at the GOP convention at Colts Neck High School on Saturday morning, March 23.

Since they formed in 2009, the Bayshore Tea Party Group has supported three campaigns that have defeated the Monmouth County Republican Organization in primaries.

Former Highlands Mayor Anna Little won the 6th Congressional District nomination twice.  In 2010 Little defeated the MCRO’s endorsed candidate Diane Gooch.  In 2012 Little defeated newcomer Ernesto Cullari.  Cullari had won the Monmouth Republican organization’s endorsement. Little won the Middlesex County Republican Organization’s endorsement and won the primary handily in both counties.  Little went on to lose twice to incumbent Democratic Congressman Frank Pallone.

Oceanport real estate executive David Corsi beat Princeton venture capitalist Scott Sipprelle in Monmouth County during the 2010 primary for the 12 Congressional District nomination.  Sipprelle prevailed on the strength of his support in the Middlesex and Mercer portions of the district.  Sipprelle lost to incumbent Democratic Congressman Rush Holt.

Both Little and Corsi were supported by BTPG’s grassroots activists.

Gonzalez: “It’s very likely” that the Bayshore Tea Party Group will field a primary slate

47_122054 (640x506)Bayshore Tea Party Group co-founder Barbara Gonzalez said that the group has six candidates collecting signatures in preparation of filing for the Republican primary.

Three of the candidates are collecting signatures to run for the State Legislature in the 13th District against Senator Joe Kyrillos and Assembly Members Amy Handlin and Declan O’Scanlon.  Two are preparing to challenge Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Freeholder Director Serena DiMaso, and one is preparing to run against Sheriff Shaun Golden.

Gonzalez would not name the candidates, claiming that they have decided not to announce they are running until their petitions are completed and filed.  “April 1st will be here before you know it,” she said.

When told that a source told MMM that the group’s primary challenge had “fizzled out,” Gonzalez said, “You better get better sources!”

The Artful Dodger

A Breitbart reporter caught up with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez at Newark Penn Station last night.  She asked him where he spent Easter last year and if he traveled on Dr. Salomon Melgen’s private jet over the holiday.

Menendez dodged the question. “Basically, the people who have all said that have all filed affidavits saying they lied.”

Three Dominican women have signed affidavits saying that they were paid to lie about having sex with Menendez in exchange for money.  No one has alleged that those women piloted Melgen’s plane

A federal grand jury in Miami is investigating Menendez’s relationship with Melgen. Melgen, who contributed $700,000 to Menendez’s campaign coffers is under investigation for Medicare fraud. Menendez intervened with Medicare officials. He also put pressure on the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security to help Melgen’s Dominican port security company collect on a $500 million contract with the Dominican government.

As a United States Senator, Menendez is required to disclose and get Ethics Committee approval for expensive gifts like travel on a private jet. Prompted by NJ State Senator Sam Thompson’s ethics complaint, Menendez admitted in January of this year that he had traveled twice on Melgen’s jet in 2010.  He then reimbursed Melgen $58,500 for those flights.

But Thompson’s complaint included an allegation that Menendez flew to the Dominican Republic on Melgen’s jet on Sunday April 8, 2012.  Menendez has not accounted for that flight.  He hasn’t denied being on that flight.
