Hanlon announces extended hours for voter registration

October 13 is the last day to register to vote in the November 3 election

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is reminding County residents that the deadline for new voters to register to vote is Tuesday, October 13, in order to vote in the November 3 general election.

New voters can register online by visiting the State’s voter registration portal, or in person at the County Superintendent/Registrar of Elections Office located at 300 Halls Mills Rd. in Freehold Township. This office will be open until 9 p.m. on the 13th to accommodate last minute registrants.

Atlantic Cinemas announces modified schedule

Atlantic Cinemas will reopen on Thursday, October 15, with a showing of Infidel, an inspired by true events political thriller starring Jim Caviezel.

Thereafter, the theater will be open for first run movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, owner Fred Rast said. Private parties, concerts, films by independent local producers will occur whenever they are available and scheduled.

Howell Deputy Mayor seeks Lakewood Mayor’s help with park safety

Howell Deputy Mayor Evelyn O’ Donnell wrote to Lakewood Mayor Raymond Cole on Wednesday seeking his help in communicating the importance of adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols to his Township’s residents.

Howell closed its parks this week due to overcrowding and a lack of social distancing.

Stephanie Schmid, the lawyer known for defending the human rights of criminal corporate polluters and for lying to Monmouth and Ocean County Democrats about her ability to raise money, has admitted to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that she accepted campaign contributions from prohibited entities and that she accepted contributions that exceed the legal limit.

Marletta granted parole after serving less than four years for death of 15 year Atlantic Highlands girl

Toni Ann Marletta, the woman who killed 15 year old Marissa Procopio of Atlantic Highlands on Route 36 in Leonardo on July 7, 2015, has been granted parole. She is eligible to be released from State Prison on November 9, 2020.

Marletta was sentenced to seven years in state prison on December 2, 2016. She is scheduled to be released after serving less than fours years.

Transgender Male Sues Amazon For Pregnancy Discrimination

A pregnant person who identifies as a male is suing Amazon for pregnancy discrimination and gender-identity discrimination, according to a report at New Jersey Law.

Shaun Simmons alleges that the pregnancy was disclosed to other employees who offered congratulations and questioned Shaun’s use of the mens room due to the pregnancy.

I am tremendously proud of my friend and our Congressman Chris Smith who consistently rises above the noise and clatter of politics and personally goes the extra mile to help people in desperate situations.

During this pandemic Chris Smith has done it again—he has literally saved lives.  He’s not just saved the lives of countless unknown people who did not get sick because of the PPE Chris was able to secure for first responders and medical providers.  But he’s saved really sick patients whose families called their congressman because they were desperate for answers, medication, and approvals for treatment in a healthcare system that was overwhelmed.  Chris Smith came through for them.
