Solomeno Thwarts Hazlet First Aid Squad’s Fundraising Effort

Vincent Solomeno, last year’s losing Democrat candidate for Monmouth County Surrogate, is running for office again. This year he wants to unseat Mayor Sue Kiley on the Hazlet Township Committee.

Solomeno was the poorest performing Democrat on the County ticket last year, losing badly to Surrogate Rosemarie Peters by a margin of 58%-42%. He performed slightly better in his hometown of Hazlet where he lost to Peters, of Middletown, by 56% to 44%, while losing every election district in the township. His effort last year was hampered when he denied using prostitutes after a facebook post wherein he announced that a “swedish whore name Cindy usually knows where to find me” was discovered online.
Vincent’s maturity and judgement does not appear to have improved in the last year.
At yesterday’s Hazlet Day festival, Solomeno prevented the volunteer first aid squad from promoting an upcoming fundraiser. According to squad volunteers, Solomeno complained to the squad’s chief after one of the volunteers presented him with an invitation to the September 28 spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Evidently the candidate has a problem with the fact that the invitation announced that the event is sponsored by the Hazlet Republican Club. 100% of the proceeds of the event go to the first aid squad. There is no mention of any candidate or election on the invitation.
When I asked Solomeno if he really complained about the first aid squad promoting their fundraiser, he turned his back on me and walked away without responding.

The Hazlet Republican Club’s 10th Annual Pasta Dinner is on Thursday, September 28 from 5:30-8:30 at the North Centerville Firehouse. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12. All proceeds will be donated to the Hazlet First Aid Squad to benefit the Cadet Program.

You can’t make this stuff up … the dems are destroying themselves with either their extremist positions (including anti-Catholic rhetoric) or just plain stupidity.
This one really bites them back.
This democrat’s reaction should have been, “Hey, can we also sponsor a fundraiser for this great community first aid squad?”
What the democrats now conveniently forget (or ignore) is that many Irish, Italian and Polish Catholic immigrants (as well as other nationalities) came to this country seeking the American Dream and for years were devoted to the democrat party.
Three of my grandparents were born in Ireland, one was born in Poland. They and my parents were all democrats. My uncle was a democrat judge for 34 years (and taught me a lot about politics). They must all be spinning in their graves at the anti Catholic bigotry so prevalent today by too many democrats. Let us never forget that it was the KKK who espoused hatred of Catholics as well as other minorities.
And it’s not just the hateful rhetoric of the democrat group District 4 Coalition, but also democrat Senators like Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin who just this week challenged a republican judicial nominee over her Catholic religion. Would they have done that if she were Muslim or Jewish in her religion?
I guess the only groups allowed to be discriminated against are those of Catholic or Evangelical Christian faiths.
How sad. May God forgive them. We must strongly condemn this hatred and bigotry, but also remember to pray for those whose hearts are consumed by this hatred.
Vincent Solomeno also deleted my comment and blocked me on facebook just for confronting him on his lies about Republicans on the Township Committee. He does things like this to others too. He cowers and hides when confronted on anything. We don’t need politicians like that.
Many people he spoke to in town can see right through him and are completely turned off by his fakeness.
Sue Kiley goes above and beyond the call of duty to help residents in her town and she is going to crush Little Vincent in a landslide.
How about not making this political and just about a politician being a butt. Dem club horseshoe tourney proceeded goes to First aid too.

I was one of the originators of the Columbus Day Festival (now called Hazlet Day) when I was a volunteer and later a Commissioner on the Hazlet Recreation Commission. It was decided then by all Commissioners that no reference to any Political Candidate or Party would be allowed to be highlighted in the day’s activities in any fashion. As I recall the only other person who ever tried to sneak something political in was former Mayor John Bradshaw, when he showed up with balloons with candidates names printed on them affixed to one of the booths. I personally asked that he remove them and he did. Hazlet Township is a community with many wonderful volunteers from both parties. The First Aid & Rescue Squad among them, they receive very little help from the municipality and rely heavily on donations to operate. So it is a wonderful thing that one of their events is sponsored by a political party, just as many other volunteer organizations are supported by the other party. However, their good intentions may have been timed to take advantage of a perfect way to advertise their party. Vinny’s only mistake was not bringing this to the attention of one of the sponsors of the event so that they could request the flyers be handed out with the first line torn off the flyer!

Vinnie made several mistakes.
A major mistake was not answering my question and turning his back on me. I would have reported whatever he said. Either that or I would have concluded the situation was not worthy of a post.
His first mistake was leaving the first aid squad volunteers upset and discouraged. Had they not been left feeling disrespected by him, they would not have mentioned it to me.
I can think of three or four ways he could have handled it better. They way he did handle it is a demonstration of his character and maturity.
