Kean Endorses Thomson For LD 30 Assembly Seat

Assemblyman Sean Kean has endorsed former Wall Township Mayor Edward “Ned” Thomson to be is running mate and colleague in the Assembly.

Thomson is competing to fill the vacancy created by Dave Rible’s resignation from the Assembly upon being sworn in as the Director of the New Jersey Division of Alcohol Beverage Control.   The vacancy will be filled on Monday August 14 at a convention of the LD 30 County Committee to be held at the IBEW Local 400 union hall in Wall.

In his letter to the county committee members, Kean cited Thomson’s more than 20 years of public service to Wall as a mayor, township committeeman, planning and zoning board member and GOP county committeeman.  He noted Thomson’s 23 years of service as a Governor’s Appointed Trustee of the NJ Public Employee Pension System and that he is a member of the State Investment Council.

“Together, Assemblyman Sean Kean and I will continue the fight for reform in Trenton and prosperity throughout New Jersey,” Thomson said. “I am honored to have Sean’s support and partnership both in the legislature and on the campaign trail.”

“Dave Rible leaves big shoes to fill as a leader who got things done,” Thomson continued. “I pledge to the county committee members who will hopefully elected me on Monday, and to all the people of the 30th district who I ask to elect me in November, that I will represent their interests with integrity and passion.”

Thomson is slated to face off with Ralph Addonizio of Wall, James Bean of Belmar, and Justin Flancbaum of Lakewood at the convention to select Rible’s replacement on Monday night.

Monmouth County Freeholder Gary Rich had announced his candidacy, but did not file, citing timing related to personal and family issues.

The 30th District is comprised of Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach,Brielle, Farmingdale, Howell, Lake Como, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, and Wall in Monmouth County as well as Lakewood and Point Pleasant in Ocean County.

  1. It is said at 8:25 am on August 14th, 2017:

    pretty annoying that gas is higher here now, than places like Maryland: some 23 cents a gallon more, or so.. it will be interesting to see if NJ voters ” remember in November,” who exactly whacked us again, with more taxes…these people just never learn: the legislators, OR the electorate!
