Just HOW again are those words taken out of context? They ARE INDEED in the context of The Dear Leader’s philosophy of government, his ingrained ideology.

So, please quit whining about it incessantly. If that’s all you got, bring it on

  2. Bob English said at 9:40 pm on September 3rd, 2012:

If you don’t understand what out of context means by now, I dont have the time to waste explaining it to you again.

Why don’t you look at Romenys first commercial of the campaign and see how he took something that Obama said when he was quoting McCain and edited his words to make it seem like they were Obamas words….that is one example of “out of context.”

Since you will never see what Obama said in the sentence prior to “you didn’t build it in R ads, I posted the words below. Why isn’t the preceeding sentence to “you didn’t build that” ever included in R videos or ads??? Answer is simple…its because people would understand that he was referring to roads and bridges.

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the G.I. Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for President — because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together.

People may own their business and nobody builds a business on their own. They need capital to start and loans to keep going; they need employees; they need product or a service to sell to customers; they need a transportation system to move the product; the list goes on and on. The concept of the lone exceptional individual making it on their own is not part of the American dream, it is an American myth. The ‘many are one’, not the one is separate from and greater than the many.

  4. Mlaffey said at 7:25 am on September 4th, 2012:

Context? He mocks people who think they succeeded because they worked hard or are smart and his audience laughs. The context of his speech is that you are nothing without the government. You don’t get the credit for your success we do and therefore we deserve to tax you as much as we want. That is the context of the whole speech.

That is what he clearly thinks and he is wrong.

  5. Bob English said at 9:10 am on September 4th, 2012:

I’ll provide another example with something Romeny said a while back…remember “I like being able to fire people?”

If the D’s wasted an entire day of their convention just talking about that line without properly putting it in the context in which Romney was speaking that would have also have been misleading and taking Romenys words out of context.

Like I said earlier, if someone really believes what the President said is so bad, they should have the guts to post the entire video or entire text of his speech and than let people judge for themselves. Why are people afraid to do that??

  6. brian said at 10:23 am on September 4th, 2012:

ln a free market–when someone i hire doesn’t perform—-i like to fire them–and the problem with that is????????

  7. Bob English said at 2:24 pm on September 4th, 2012:

In my opinion there is no problem with what Romey said when it is taken in full context including the words he said before and after the statement….that is the way it should be….I used that example (and refenced the total distortion of Obama’s words when quoting McCain) to give an example of how taking words out of context can totally distort their meaning.

  8. Pilgrim said at 3:36 pm on September 4th, 2012:

    Malfey,
You seem to be reading into the speech what you want to be there so you can be justified in your interpretation of another person’s words. You have NO idea of what “he clearly thinks.” You only have what you think he thinks. I can find no resonable explanation of what would make Obama mock people for being successful. You are making stuff up, which is OK so long as you see it as opinion and not fact.

By-the-way, its Congress that raises taxes.

  9. Bob English said at 5:27 pm on September 4th, 2012:

Speaking of raising taxes, Romney was not telling the truth in his acceptance speech when he said Obama raised taxes on the middle class.

It’s been posted over and over again in multiple formats. It’s all over the web.

No one can mistake the message. The experience of receiving a speech is a uniquely individual one, as is the experience of any art form. You can’t invalidate someone else’s personal experience simply because you don’t like it. Sorry, it just doesn’t work that way.

WE KNOW WHAT OBUMMER THINKS FROM HIS IDEOLOGY

He is a socialist leaning, BIG Gubmint Democrat who believes in cradle to grave philosophy.

Now, please go join the line of people with heads in the sand like Salad Boy Ambrosia, Little Bobbie & Joey Mumbles Killeen

  13. Proud Republican said at 6:12 pm on September 4th, 2012:

OK Dems, for the last time. Your favorite foreign exchange student blew it. Our Muslim president clearly and unequivocally told every small, medium and large business owner that no matter how much they risked, how many hours they put in, how hard they worked that the GOVERNMENT, not them, were responsible for building their business. You guys can twist yourselves into a pretzel trying to explain and backtrack for the Muslim in the White House, but you can’t undo his incredibly stupid, telling statement. The funniest part is that the whole context makes it even worse. If Bill Ayers’ protege loses this November, he can look to this rare moment of honesty for his “one and done” presidency.

  14. Pilgrim said at 6:53 pm on September 4th, 2012:

    @Pilgrim,

“WE KNOW WHAT OBUMMER THINKS FROM HIS IDEOLOGY”. When did you become an all knowing “WE”. Do you think that claiming to be more than one person makes you universal and what you think you know even better, more sure, more correct, maybe even like an all knowing God? Did “WE” have a long conversation with all those that comprise your “WE” to come up with a statement that all of you could agree to post?

Is it possible that you don’t do any thinking on your own of your own and just borrow what sounds good, goes along with what the other “we” people think and supports your slightly informed world view?

I missed the “cradle to grave philosophy” course in school, who was its founder Plato, Camus, Aristotle?

Ideaology is not what someone thinks; it is what frames someone’s thinking: kind of like the Constitution frames our law and the Declaration of Independence frames the reasons for our choosing divorce from the English monarchy.

Finally, do “WE” have any thinking to offer regarding what socialism is and how this thinking demonstrates that Obama is a socialist?

  15. Pilgrim said at 7:13 pm on September 4th, 2012:

    Proud Republican,

If large, medium and small businesses built it by themselves then those individuals don’t need the tax breaks, which means that revenue comes from SOMEONE ELSE, and they don’t need employees, and A farmer doesn’t need subsidies, and an oil company doesn’t need subsidies, and businesses don’t need bankers and loans. The list can go on and on. And, the reason the list can go on is because business in the U.S. and the world is about PARTNERSHIPS and working together to be successful.

There appears to be a lot of bigotry and fear in your words. Are you afraid; if so what makes you fearful?

By-the-way, pride (hubris) preceeds the fall. Are you afraid that the Republican Party is about to fall, again, in this election?
    Ask @Pilgrim what “we” thinks?

  16. Dittos Proud Republican said at 7:31 pm on September 4th, 2012:

We’re wasting our time with the likes of Pilgrim, Bobbie Boy, Ambrosia Salad & Mumbles Killeen.

Pilgrim, WE refers to THOSE that are sick of Obummer and see thru him. You libs can put on the rose colored glasses all you want, but you can not hide from The Dear Leaders Ideological tilt.

Pilgrim, you must have missed the Realville Street Lessons about “cradle to grave.”

Funny thing about the left, only the Right is capable of bigotry. Sad, really.

@ pilgrim. You have to be kidding. You don’t recognize the tone and inflection he is using as mocking. How about the fact that the audience is laughing when he says “I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there” Did you listen to the speech?

  19. Proud Republican said at 10:49 pm on September 4th, 2012:

You know, with all the liberal press propping up the Muslim in the White House. we tend to overlook what’s happening on the ground. You know all those people who are packing theaters for Obama 2016? Or the ones who are reading “Amateur” and making it number one on the NYT best seller list week after week? Or the ones who packed every Chick Fil A in the country on 8/2? Or the troops who sat silently while the Muslim-in-chief tried to score brownie points with more of his teleprompter-driven BS. Those people are the same ones who see through this socialist hack in the White House. They are also the same ones who the lib media is trying to ignore. The problem for Barry Sotero, or whatever the heck his name is this week, – they are real, they are numerous and they are all going to vote in November. And not for the socialist occupying the Oval office now.

  20. @Proud Republican said at 7:10 am on September 5th, 2012:

Watch out now, Bobbie Boy will call you a bigot or a racist for the use of the word Muslim.

Other than that, Amen. It’s the people you mentioned who are highly motivated to fire the empty chair that will turn out in droves; NOT the crowds that have to be bussed to the DNC convention in order to fill empty seats
