Beneath the dignity of the office

Barack Obama’s reaction to the closing night on the Republican National Convention was a tweet at 12:23 am that said This seat’s taken and included a photo of the president sitting with his back to the camera apparently at a meeting in the White House.

The media is spinning the president’s tweet as a shot back at Clint Eastwood for his skit using an empty chair for his imaginary conversation with Obama.

I didn’t take it that way.  I read it as an arrogant and off handed dismissal of Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech and the case Romney made for his candidacy.

Either way the president’s tweet is offensive and beneath the dignity of the office.

At least he wasn’t lying like all the speeches that came out of Tampa. That seat IS taken…Obama 2012!!

It is interesting to note what sends whom into a dither. I watched the Republican convention last night and came away with the overall impression that Rubio and Romney had done well in delivering their speeches.
As to the tweet that came from the Obama address I thought it short and to the point.
A giggle in the midst of the revival meeting tone and substance of hours of speeches from his opponents. No rushing to the media with a point by point rebuttal, actually professionally polite in the face of a dozens of publically questioned, almost facts.
Why the tempest in a tea pot reaction to a fact that is actually a fact?

It also was apparent throughout the convention that a committed Republican in 2012 is morally correct, economically shrewd and rabidly committed to the gospel as laid down by the anointed, all attributes that have spelled trouble for the rest of us throughout history.
Economically they are saying lets do it all again, only this time around lets bet the last of the ranch and let the “We Built It” smart money boys have another go at us.
On foreign policy the chants of USA,USA, didn’t warm my cockles they just reminded me a a hockey game over 20 years ago.
Again lets return to the days of Father Knows Best and My Little Margie. Only problem there is the rest of the world keeps looking for their version of the same old fables.
Democratic pundits and Republican pundits have already changed the international game with both of them running cocksure into the future of globalization.
How has it become forgotten that the same “We Built It” crowd didn’t hesitate to move any and all economic activities somewhere else where it was cheaper than having to pay their fellow, “one for all and all for one” citizens a living wage.
As to the other major themes I took away from Tampa the one that stood out the most was the call for that ole time religion, the one that has been kicked to the side by all those “others” we have to recognize and “deal” with in our society.

I like Susan B Anthony’s take on religious beliefs; one of those women; that were being courted in the speeches last night.

“I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.”

Actually, They Are Probably Jealous They Couldn’t Pull This Off.

Actually, Hollywood is staying away from the Democrat Convention in DROVES.

PROBABLY Because they’ve realized what a failure Obummer is.

Even Hillary is staying away from The Dear Leader

BTW, Ebert Looks Even More Of A Doofus

They Mock A True American Hero Because They Have NOTHING To Run On. For Those Critical Of Clint, Remember; He’s 82 Years Old. You Three Libs Here Don’t Have HALF The Moral Center That Clint Does.

My Only Wish Was That It Could Have Been John Wayne Saying This To Obama.

“Half the moral center that Clint has?” LOL…he has seven kids that we know about by five different women.

Funny how the R’s were not very happy with Clint after the Super Bowl commercial touting the auto industries comback but last night somehow blaming Obama for getting into the war in Afghanistan is okay???

I like Clint a lot but last night was a total disaster. At a bare minimum, they wasted 15+ minutes of network prime time where they could have been showing the Romney video.

  6. TeaPartyDem said at 12:55 pm on August 31st, 2012:

Yes, the seat is taken. That tall stool in the corner of the room where you wear that pointed hat is Obama’s.

I’ll take those 7 children anytime over a President that supports abortion at will and Gay Marriage. Anytime, any place.

Oh, that prime time coverage? Who would want the meager coverage allowed by the lame street media (one hour per evening Tuesday & Wednesday) especially MESSNBC which took every opportunity to call the Republicans racist.

Bobbie Boy, We’ve Got You “Every Which Way But Loose.”

  9. Just HOW UNPopular Is Dear Leader Obummer??? said at 6:26 pm on August 31st, 2012:

That they have to go to bars to hand out free tickets to hear the Thug In Chief’s speech.

Next thing you’ll see is Obummer Thugs & Black Panthers handing out free smokes to get them to vote.

A little Fact Checking (even though one party announced they apparently are not going to pay attention to fact checking anymore which was quite evident the past few days) on the above post regarding tickets being given out in bars and the posters worry about “Obama thugs and Black Panthers”…I wonder what he was implying with that statement about “Obama thugs and Black Panthers” and who he was appealing to???? The base??:

A little bit of truth: A local County Democratic Party in Georgia is offering local residents a chance to get tickets to listen to the Presidents speech in Charlotte. There are two places people can go to on a certain day to get/win tickets. One is a local D party headquarters and the other is a tavern which was called “Best Bar in Atlanta” by Atlanta Magazine, “Best Neighborhood Bar” by Creative Loafing, and one of the “Best Bars in the US” by Esquire Magazine.

by any Pres., to me, is beneath the dignity of the office.. technology is great, but lowering himself to punching buttons like the Hollywood, schoolyard and sports crowd,(what, “LOL,” “LMFAO,” and the like may be next?) demeans the most serious “chair” in the world.. he is acting more and more like the spoiled child who, when caught doing something wrong, petulantly defends himself, cries like a baby, blames a sibling, or calls Granma to defend him.. this guy was WRONG from the beginning, wrong for the job, wrong in the performance of the job, and the wrong one to make the “point”.. I believe( and yes, pray), that, as they get more scared, worried, angry, shrill, nasty, and double-down in the only way they can win, steal it, with dead, illegal, and my fav, double voting, the people will at last realize what a big mistake their great experiment in P.C. got them, and will send this person home, to the streets of Chicagoland, where he belongs!…and, Michelle, you haven’t spent enough of our money on the largest 1st lady staff and number of vacas in history, go ahead and take not only the drapes, as Hillary did, grab a few lamps, too, but just GO!

  13. Every Which Way Screwed Loose said at 9:16 pm on August 31st, 2012:

So, a candidate for president gives Dirty Harry carte blanche at his convention, only to find himself and his party embarassed, and prime time eaten up that should have been devoted to the wonders of Mitt. And the takeaway for you is the President’s shortcomings?

Not a very appealing way to prove you are a risk taker. Can’t wait to Mitt’s cabinet picks.

I couldn’t agree more, Art. But then, Obama’s got the maturity level of a child.

  15. Joe said at 7:12 am on September 1st, 2012:

Obama is running his campaign the way Burger King and Pepsi run marketing campaigns in that he’s acknowledging the competition. Obama’s internal polls know he’s in trouble, so instead of running from the front, he’s attacking his opponent. Anyone who knows anything about marketing knows that Coke never mentions Pepsi and McDonald’s never acknowledges Burger King; why? Because they are the industry leaders.

Pretty soon, his Presidency will wash away as well.

Your boy Mitt is apparently quite the Tweeter himself. And I suppose Fat boy lends dignity to the office by paying for some leaner thumbs to churn out his babble. At least you are consistent.. Completely hypocritical across the board.

I wholeheartedly agree, but it’s there, so what do we make of it, do with it?

    BTW, Twitmitt Obummer Syncophant…

Isn’t it interesting to find out that Obummer inflates his Twitter Followers by half. If that ain’t lying, I don’t know what is.
