Gopal: Marlboro is in play
With only $3,000 cash on hand, as of September 30, Monmouth County Democratic Chairman Vin Gopal seems to be abandoning his strategy of concentrating on LD 11, and now appears to be focused on protecting his turf in Marlboro.
The Marlboro race is no where near as nasty as the Freeholder campaign that Gopal ran last year and is a kumbaya circle compared to the filthy race that Gopal ran in Red Bank in 2013, wherein he accused a Council Candidate of being a fugitive from justice and never recanted when it was proven that there was absolutely no merit to his charge.
Art Gallagher is honored to be mentioned in the good company of Lt Gov. Kim Guadagno and Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick.
Guadagno will be visiting Marlboro next Tuesday, October 27, to inspire the PositivelyMarlboro team of Ira Goldberg for Mayor and John Dwyer and Sui Allex for Council to victory.
If you are such a GOP mouthpiece and Hornik is a Pallone Democrat then why is he advertising on your site.
Art, It quotes in the article that you “now” recanted your accusations towards Randi Marder. I am not seeing that anywhere. Care to respond?
Sure, Marlboro Republican,
See these two articles:

@Hey Art,
People advertise here because the site has a ton of web traffic
Oh! Because you mistook Randi and her husband for another couple with dealings in Florida (and quickly recanted when provided the facts), the democrats in Marlboro now want Randi Marder’s ethic violations expunged? I get it now. Nice play with words, Vin, treating the uneducated voter as a tool.
Let me just add that Randi Marder does not deserve reelection in our town. This is not “one of the nastiest local campaigns”. In fact the whole season has been very quiet. All that the republicans are pointing out is that Councilwoman Marder has been convicted of using the influence of her seat to enrich her family business. And Councilman Scalia has been very absent from his elected post. That’s it. Just facts. Not smear.
Actually they had 3k on Jan 1, they only have 2k as of Oct 1.
but watch out in 2016: will likely be that all incumbents win this year, with a very uninterested, light turnout: the GOP at all levels had better get their act and fundraising together, especially all turnout plans, or we can see scary and epic disasters all over the ballot.( especially not trashing our own, which seems to becoming more the norm- self- destructive behaviors and results,we do not need, any more!)
@Marlboro Republican
You said -” Councilwoman Marder has been convicted of using the influence of her seat to enrich her family business”
That is such a joke. There was no influence and we both know because you OPRAed the documents that she never voted on or even made a penny on your kids trophy. You also know that the family has been supplying this stuff for 30 years. How many Republican mayors does tht cover? They gave it to the town at THEIR COST with nothing added on top for their overhead. This is all public knowledge.
You also know that the Council NEVER voted on anything except to allow the Business Administrator to make purchases that are below the level requiring a bid. Just like your giuy Dwyer did on the BOE.’
So what has been the outcome of your witch hunt? The toen now pays 3 times the cost for the same kids trophies, the town has spent a lot of money on lawyers defending this.
Yes, she is entitled to be defended just as Mrs. Dean had her lawyer paid for with BOE money when she had an ethics charge against her. It works both ways.
So stop complaining, give up on your silly games and put some real suggestions to help the town, not just yur talking points which are silly.
@Jimmy Jones,
First my children did not receive trophies. Second you suggest that they were donating trophies at the the Marder’s family expense then why was that not accepted by the court as a donation and not an expense? Third, If a council person’s family business is engaged with his/her township wouldn’t the simplest know that that needs to be disclosed officially? And finally 3X as much spent now? Show your proof on that!
From APP 02/10/2015:
On Nov. 17, 2014, the State Local Finance Board found that Marder violated two parts of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.5 between 2008 to 2011. She was found guilty of attempting to use her position “to secure unwarranted privileges or advantages” for herself and acting in a manner in which a business organization in which she has an interest has a direct or indirect financial or personal involvement that might reasonably be expected to impair his objectivity or independence of judgment.”
Marder was fined a total of $400 – $100 for every year of the violation – by the board following the ruling. She was also fined another $400 for failing to fully disclose her husband’s stake in the company, a violation of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.6. The Ethics Board filed an official appeal with the state on Dec. 22, 2014.
Again, Jimmy, just facts, not smear on my part. On your end you’re bending a pretzel!
Well “Jimmy Jones” you said: the town has spent a lot of money on lawyers defending this.
Well who’s frieken’ fault is that? SHE WAS FOUND GUILTY YOU IDIOT!
“yur [sic] talking points which are silly”
No, Jimmy I think I have proved that the democrats and “yur” points are silly. I have given proof of Randi Marder’s foul against the law and proof of her convictions. And you say that it is NOT bad that the Marder’s profited without competing against other businesses. Maybe some in Marlboro and not Manalapan? In fact, you make an outrageous statement that it will now cost 3-times as much for trophies. This is propably the most moronic thing I have ever heard in local government. So You are saying that now a $10 trophy will cost the rec department $30 BECAUSE Randi Marder was found guilty?
OK, You have the floor Democrats…And Mr. Jones…Let ‘er rip:
Hewy Jimmy it’s been 3 days and no response. What’s wrong?
Yea, didn’t think so…
