Manalapan Elected Officials Stand With Bennett
The four of the five members of Manalapan’s Township Committee, all Republicans, endorsed Monmouth County Republican Chairman John O. Bennett III for a second term as Chairman yesterday.
In a statement released by Bennett which can be found here, the Mayor Jordan Maskowitz, Deputy Mayor Jack McNaboe, and Committee Members Mary Ann Musich and Susan Cohen, the MCGOP Vice Chairwoman, said:
It is a great honor to stand with John O. Bennett in his campaign to seek a second term as Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman, respectively. The bottom line is that John Bennett has kept all of his campaign promises from two years ago, and the Monmouth County Republican Party is stronger today than it was then.
John’s first promise when running two years ago was to implement a new set of by-laws and move to a convention system when selecting candidates in order to make the entire process more democratic. John has done this, and now County Committee members select our organization’s candidates, not political bosses in the back room.John also pledged to put in place a Board of Directors to meet and advise the Chairman, and he has met this promise as well. Now, Republican representatives from all over the county have a direct say in the County Party. He also promised to keep our County Party headquarters open and staffed full time, and has done this. The County Party headquarters has been an invaluable resource for Manalapan Township. Last year at the headquarters, our campaign volunteers made phone calls into Manalapan every Monday night on behalf of Governor Christie, our County candidates, and our local Township Committee candidates.
We encourage County Committee members not just of Manalapan, but all of Monmouth County to vote for JohnO. Bennett, a proven leader and party builder, at the June 10th Chairman’s Convention. Thank you.
The fifth Republican on the Township Committee, Ryan Green, has ostracized himself from his colleagues because he wasn’t selected to be Mayor. Maskowtiz has called for Green’s resignation and Manalapan GOP Chairman Steve McEnery likened Green to Edward Snowden while calling him a petulant pipsqueak.
I see all towns that made endorsements so far signed them as a group (except Ryan Green, for personal grudges).
Does it mean our county is very geographically polarized? Or just that most local officials don’t think on their own and just follow the direction from the local boss?
Sorry Art, I didn’t intend for the RepeatBot to ruin the steady stream of comments 🙁
But in other great breaking news: I received a phone call from Anthony E. Wilkinson’s camp last night! Mr. Wilkinson seems to be making an honest effort to reach out to people, build a solid network or supporters and try to run a strong campaign in a difficult Congressional district.
Hopefully whoever the chairman is and whoever ends up on all of the local committees show as much support …and send as many letters …and make as many phone calls …and knock as many doors… for our Congressional candidate as they are doing for their county chairman! Anthony E. Wilkinson for Congress! http://www.wilkinsonfornj.com/
The RepeatBot overlord is one scary program. I suspect it’s part of sky net and due to become self aware any day now. When it does, I predict it will immediately flag the ethics law issue and also favor a debate between the Sheriff and Mr. Bennett.

One from John Bennett, taking the low road with his letter and going negative (again)
And a flyer from Shaun Golden, a positive one with vision
Yup, our votes are with Shaun
Signed
Mr & Mrs John Q. County Committee People.
Despite Bennett’s negative letter and attacks, he implores Shaun to run a positive campaign.
Sad, but typical of John Bennett.
Mr. & Mrs J.Q. C.C.
TOP 10 REASONS GOLDEN SHOULD NOT BE CHAIRMAN:
1) No real experience running political organization at all. He showed up 5 years ago without any experience.
2) His own town a mess and he did nothing to help fix it. He sat it out and did not want to be involved. He did not have the “balls” to lead.
3) He is terribly conflicted as county wide elected official that wants to be party-boss. Can you say ethics charges to follow in the future, blowing up in our face?
4) He was the chief engineer that led failed coupe to dump a popular sitting Freeholder, Gary Rich, with an unqualified, over the top 3x loser, Bobby Walsh. The failed coupe once again caused division and disharmony in the ranks that he fostered and led; after lying to Gary’s face.
5) He has messes in his own department by hiring triple dippers on the tax-payer dime.
6) He has not political loyalty to anyone or anything. Only to himself and will stab anyone in the back —- or in the chest — to further his own selfish causes.
7) He wants to turn over the County political machine over to a handful of the big towns and return to the old days where you had to be from a big town to be anybody.
8) He wants to dole out more county jobs to people when he is conflicted.
9) He plans to use the sheriff’s office and county chairman’s job to be a “de-facto” County Executive; a role not allowed under this county form of government.
10) He will/plans to use chair to build chips and topple sitting outstanding Congressman Chris Smith in 2 years. As chairman he can give himself the line and dump Smith, a supremely competent Congressman.
Enough with regurgitating what John told you to write. Go open your mailbox (if your on the list) and look at the messages bring sent by each camp. Obviously the people endorsing Bennett are being threatened with consequences if they don’t fall in line like good little soldiers. The constant cut and paste doesn’t make us believe you anymore, even if you write it 10 times a day!
I am voting for Shaun Golden and a new outlook for our party! Bennett’s old ways will lose in the end.
last night’s meet the candidates night. Boy, did that look sparsely attended.
Isn’t it Chairman Bennett’s responsibility to ramp up attendance for such things? Not a good sign for Mr. Bennett.
Huge victory for Shaun Golden on the June 10
