Daily Caller Tries To Tilt A Second NJ Senate Election

The conservative website that broke the “news” of Senator Bob Menendez cavorting with underage Dominican prostitutes on the eve of last year’s election between the Democratic U.S Senator and State Senator Joe Kyrillos published a story this morning alleging that Cory Booker does not live in Newark.

Accompanied by a video by Highway 61 Entertainment, a firm that also produced a documentary that makes the case that President Obama’s real father was socialist Franklin Marshal Davis, not Barack Obama, Sr., today’s story alleges that Booker lives in New York and that his Newark properties house the mayor’s security detail from the Newark PD.

Last year’s story about Menendez was widely debunked as poorly sourced, relying on anonymous videos of the Dominican escorts who later recanted.  The story did not get any legs until after the election which was held seven days after Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey.

At first viewing, the video seems to raise legitimate questions about Booker’s residency.  However, even if the story is true, it will not gain sufficient traction in the New Jersey media to impact the Special Senate Election on Wednesday.  In order to have impacted the election, DC and Highway 61 would have had to release their story at least a week ago.  Given DC’s reputation for “crying wolf” with the Menendez story, two weeks ago would have been wiser, in order to give New Jersey reporters and pundits inclined to follow up on the story time to fact check the allegations.

The video features two Booker antagonists well known to reporters who follow the mayor,  Donna Jackson and Cassandra Dock.  Relying on Jackson and Dock will make reporters even more skeptical of covering this story released only two days before the election.

However, Daily Caller might gain some traction this time.  GOP Senate nominee Steve Lonegan just announced that he is holding a press conference outside of one of Booker’s Newark properties at 12:30 this afternoon.

If reporters can hear Lonegan, the story might get some traction. On September 17, Lonegan held a press conference in front of a property that Booker donated to a charity he started after it had neglected and allegedly housed squatters who set it on fire.  Booker supporters disrupted that press conference with chants of “We don’t want you here, Go back where you came from, and Cory Booker Cory Booker.”

The woman standing next to Lonegan at the September 17 is Dock, one of the stars of Highway 61 Entertainment’s video released today and highlighted by Daily Caller.

What set off my radar to be careful about this is that one of the witnesses who says Booker does not live in Newark is identified as “James Sharp.”

Not saying that can’t be true, but that’s some interesting coincidence if that’s the guy’s name!

[…] The Daily Caller‘s reputation for investigative journalism is nevertheless still hurting after, as our friend Art Gallagher noted this morning, the 2012 publication of prostitution allegations against Bob Menendez that later evaporated. […]

Lonegan is Tea Party. NJ does not deserve anyone associated with the Tea Party.

Lonegan may or may not be a Tea Party activist. I think it is more extreme to allow for abortions at full term, which is Booker’s position. That is extreme! Has crime increased in Newark, yes; do we spend more per pupil on education in Newark, yes, and there is no improvement in the education there; will Booker be a rubber stamp vote for Obama and Harry Reid’s agenda, yes. Would electing a Republican to the US Senate be a first for NJ in over 40 years, yes.

What is it that you don’t like about the Tea Party defending YOUR Constitution, eh?

Maybe NJ doesn’t deserve anyone who wants to tear it up, bit by bit?

Let’s take up the abortion issue though that Mike Borg nails it on. Here is an aborted baby after just 19 weeks.

Let’s now take the Obama legacy, which needs to be stopped.

And then you get to the failure that Obamacare is. And sadly for liberals; the list of those linkes would fill page after page on Art’s blog.

So JimmyC, stop the demagoguery and start looking at FACTS.
