Beneath the dignity of the office
Barack Obama’s reaction to the closing night on the Republican National Convention was a tweet at 12:23 am that said This seat’s taken and included a photo of the president sitting with his back to the camera apparently at a meeting in the White House.
The media is spinning the president’s tweet as a shot back at Clint Eastwood for his skit using an empty chair for his imaginary conversation with Obama.
I didn’t take it that way. I read it as an arrogant and off handed dismissal of Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech and the case Romney made for his candidacy.
Either way the president’s tweet is offensive and beneath the dignity of the office.

It is interesting to note what sends whom into a dither. I watched the Republican convention last night and came away with the overall impression that Rubio and Romney had done well in delivering their speeches.
As to the tweet that came from the Obama address I thought it short and to the point.
A giggle in the midst of the revival meeting tone and substance of hours of speeches from his opponents. No rushing to the media with a point by point rebuttal, actually professionally polite in the face of a dozens of publically questioned, almost facts.
Why the tempest in a tea pot reaction to a fact that is actually a fact?
It also was apparent throughout the convention that a committed Republican in 2012 is morally correct, economically shrewd and rabidly committed to the gospel as laid down by the anointed, all attributes that have spelled trouble for the rest of us throughout history.
Economically they are saying lets do it all again, only this time around lets bet the last of the ranch and let the “We Built It” smart money boys have another go at us.
On foreign policy the chants of USA,USA, didn’t warm my cockles they just reminded me a a hockey game over 20 years ago.
Again lets return to the days of Father Knows Best and My Little Margie. Only problem there is the rest of the world keeps looking for their version of the same old fables.
Democratic pundits and Republican pundits have already changed the international game with both of them running cocksure into the future of globalization.
How has it become forgotten that the same “We Built It” crowd didn’t hesitate to move any and all economic activities somewhere else where it was cheaper than having to pay their fellow, “one for all and all for one” citizens a living wage.
As to the other major themes I took away from Tampa the one that stood out the most was the call for that ole time religion, the one that has been kicked to the side by all those “others” we have to recognize and “deal” with in our society.
I like Susan B Anthony’s take on religious beliefs; one of those women; that were being courted in the speeches last night.

A little bit of truth: A local County Democratic Party in Georgia is offering local residents a chance to get tickets to listen to the Presidents speech in Charlotte. There are two places people can go to on a certain day to get/win tickets. One is a local D party headquarters and the other is a tavern which was called “Best Bar in Atlanta” by Atlanta Magazine, “Best Neighborhood Bar” by Creative Loafing, and one of the “Best Bars in the US” by Esquire Magazine.

Obama is running his campaign the way Burger King and Pepsi run marketing campaigns in that he’s acknowledging the competition. Obama’s internal polls know he’s in trouble, so instead of running from the front, he’s attacking his opponent. Anyone who knows anything about marketing knows that Coke never mentions Pepsi and McDonald’s never acknowledges Burger King; why? Because they are the industry leaders.
