Bait and Switch: “Meet and Greet” turns into “Debate”

Asbury Park, NJ – When Jersey Shore Tea Party president, Mark Falzon, invited conservative Republican congressional candidate Ernesto Cullari to speak to his organization on Wednesday, May 23, Falzon said the event would be a “meeting with his members”.

Now Anna Little, Cullari’s opponent in the June 5th primary, and the Bayshore Tea Party Group, which is supporting Little, have created a Facebook invite that hypes the event a little differently:  “Debate!  Anna Little vs. Ernesto Cullari!”

“I’m happy to go anywhere to meet people, but this is the wrong venue for a debate,” said Cullari, who is seeking the nomination in New Jersey’s 6th congressional district, now held by liberal Democrat Frank Pallone.  “Mark Falzon is one of Bayshore founder Barbara Gonzalez’ closest allies.  I look forward to a debate, but on neutral territory.”

“We have a lot of questions we want to put to Anna Little,” said Cullari manager Kelly Hart, “Like why Little is running on the Bayshore ticket with Bader Qarmout.”  Little, an immigration attorney, is on the Bayshore Tea Party Group “ticket” with U.S. Senate candidate Bader Qarmout.  Qarmout is the author of a controversial amnesty plan for illegal immigrants.  For a nominal fee of $19.25 a week, Qarmout’s plan would allow an illegal immigrant to remain in the United States, work here, open a bank account, and obtain a driver’s license.

“The Qarmout-Little team would let illegals stay in the United States for $2.75 a day – less than the price of a Big Mac,” said Hart.  “It is the most liberal amnesty plan being pushed by a Republican candidate anywhere in America.”

Hart noted that conservative columnist and Ron Paul enthusiast Paul Mulshine published a column today that links to a story on this:  http://conservativenewjersey.com/tpath-joins-effeort-to-give-drivers-licenses-to-illegals

Hart said:  “Let’s have a debate, but let’s have one on the level, with a neutral moderator and a neutral venue.”

Never liked or trusted Falzone. This sure sounds like a sleazy way to set up a confrontation (er debate) ; worse at a possibly non neutral event.

But but at the same time; Ernesto should be prepared to debate any place at any time.

  2. Roland Hosey said at 5:28 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

Falzone can’t vote for either of them. He is a registered democrat. Sleazebag.

  3. Vote Little said at 6:50 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

Anna Little has not endorsed Bader Qarmout or any other candidate for any other office! The Monmouth GOP chairman put Little on a random line! She is on the line with Romney and Kyrillos in Middlesex!

What new fresh hell is this? I sent out an email from information I received about an event, so that the members of BTPG could attend. I did not have anything to do with arranging or organizing this event. I do not recall posting a FB event page. If I did, I still don’t see a problem with it, but I just don’t recall doing so. MOST of the tea party groups are allies, so for you to say that Ernesto won’t meet at a venue because Mark and I are “allies”…well, that speaks volumes. Now, as for the “running on the Bayshore ticket” thing goes…really? what the hell is that about? We endorsed different candidates. That does not tie them together. I am beginning to really appreciate why people go third party because quite frankly, I am totally disgusted with what used to be my political party. I have never been so sure in my life that I will vote with my conscience, no matter what. Now, go ahead and dish your nasty comments….I stopped caring a long, long time ago.

  6. Barbara said at 7:00 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

PS- you linked an article that was in Conservative New Jersey? LOL!!!! Okay….nothing to see here. That also speaks volumes.

  7. Mark Falzon said at 7:02 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

Poppy-cock and boulder-dash. Ernesto’s CM was copied on the e-mail announcing the debate 2 weeks ago.
He claimed in a phone call last week we conducted and he initiated that he did not receive that mail. During that call I told him about the mail and proceeded to inform him of what that mail contained.
So if Ernesto wants to duck his opponent, that is his perogative. If Art wants to obfuscate, that also is his perogative.
Our TP group has conducted many candidate vetting sessions and we pride ourselves on even-handedness and fair play. Our group has not endorsed ANYONE this cycle. Bayshore, in conjunction with other TP groups has made public candidate endorsements, we have not joined them. I am friends w/Barbara at Bayshore and have the utmost respect for her, but Jersey Shore is an independent entity.
Our meeting is open as are our minds but after this escapade, there is little doubt I will be seeking our group endorse Anna Little.
As for the two lowlifes who commented, kiss my …..Who are you guys?
Talk about a bait and switch, this piece is the perfect definition of one. I expected “More” from Art and I am surprised by this brazen, transparent attempt to shield that poor little Ernesto from that big bad lady, Anna. I find it difficult to support any candidate who ducks from facing their opponent and further, uses surrogates to cover his escape.
    Have a nice evening, ladies.

I happen to know Mark Falzon, and I do not believe he would sucker-punch Ernesto Cullari in this way. Perhaps the email went astray (it has happened before) or there was a miscommunication (that has happened before).

Before we all get our knickers in a bunch, perhaps all need to take a breath (especially the rullobots) and work for the candidate we believe has the best chance defeating incumbent liberal democrats.

Fighting each other makes me wonder on whose side some people really are and whether or not provocateurs have infiltrated our ranks.

  9. Lynn said at 7:44 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

This is the part of a facebook invite I received on May 15th, from Jersey Shore Tea Party (Mark Falzon). While it may have been shared on the BTPG facebook page, I received no official invitation from Bayshore. The invitation, in it’s entirety has been forwarded to both Art Gallagher’s and Kelly Hart’s facebook pages (in case you didn’t receive the original).

“Please note both Anna Little and Ernest Cullari, congressional district 6 GOP primary candidates have confirmed their participation to appear at our meeting (map below, not our usual spot but close by. 72 larkin place oakhurst nj 07712 Oakhust meeting room) Please spread the word so all may participate and witness the events.

The structure of the event will be as follows: The two candidates will be seated in front of the room and have a face to face, head to head debate for approximately 45 minutes to be followed by questions from our audience. I believe this is the most decisive method for our group to determine whom we will endorse. The Jersey Shore TP endorsement will be accompanied by a cash donation, the amount of which is to be determined by our elected board.”

I do have a question, though. I’m looking at the list of invitees on the JSTP facebook event from May 15th. While Anna Little is on the list, I don’t see Ernesto or Kelly Hart. Were they sent an invite?

  12. Barbara Foster said at 8:23 pm on May 22nd, 2012:

We at Bayshore vetted Ernesto Cullari, and though He seems nice enough and well meaning, he lacked the knowledge to go against the NJ machine. They will chew him up and spit him right back at the Republican Party. Maybe he got cold feet or those who are handling his campaign are in for Menendez.

Who cares about any of this. And when Mulshine has to link to the trash on CNJ who had to change their name because no one cared, it only shows how much more irrelevent Mulshine has become. And he complains about Bader Qarmout when he supports Ron Paul who doesn’t see anything wrong with Iran having a nuclear weapon? What planet has Mulshine been on and exactly how much of what has he been drinking? Mulshine is no more a conservative than Harry Reid.

A columinist or reporter who does not do their own investigation is a disgrace and only proves their incompetence. I don’t live in District 6, but anyone who would support Anna Little after the crap she has pulled over the last 3 years really needs to have their heads examined. ABBL.

I’m also shocked that Art Gallagher bought into this crap without reading the source document for himself. Seems Art has problems with fine print.

Those who said that Anna was a big spender don’t get it. She cut costs everywhere, even had us write on both sides of scrap paper. The current council, Mayor Nolan and Rick Oneil (the two rinos) approved replacement doors for Borough Hall, yea personal memorials… The names of all the council members are engraved in the glass… Now if anyone looses next year, you guessed it New doors. What a waste of tax payer money..UNBELIEVABLE.

To all the Anna Little Kool-Aid drinkers out there…………..
Since Little is not above doing something sleazy and self serving, as most Republicans in Highlands and elsewhere know….. this isnt all that shocking.

As far as Cullari being a new comer and all that stuff, maybe thats exactly what we need. It seems that all weak minded and weak willed people like Little are easily corrupted by Washington politics and the power.
Certainly her experience did Little, yes a pun, to help her home town. All she did the entire time is play political games.
Also, doesnt it seem interesting that she doesnt seem to stay in any office for a very long time? They are just rungs in her ladder to advance her own ambitions while singing her little heart out, wrapping herself in the american flag, and wooing everyone about what America should be all about!
    Wake up Republicans!!!!

Note that the author of this opinion piece is “admin” — not Art Gallagher. He did not write this. Also note that the origin is noted as “Asbury Park”. Of the persons mentioned in this piece, who is from Asbury? This is an opinion piece from the Cullari camp made to appear as a MMM news article.

  23. AgEnders NJ said at 2:38 am on May 23rd, 2012:

We are very disappointed that Mr. Cullari is not going to join the discussion. We were looking forward to asking why he signed the RNC Resolution Exposing UN Agenda 21, which clearly exposes the UN and Agenda 21 as threats to US sovereignty, but is of the opinion the US should remain in the UN anyway. In fact he clearly states on his Facebook page: “Leaving the UN is not an option.”

    Ernesto Cullari For Congress NJ6
    May 18

In response to several inquiries regarding Ernesto’s position on the United Nations and America’s role therein, we post the following:

“The UN has regrettably become a den for extremists, wealth redistributionists, Marxists, terrorists and other motley actors. The United States of America should show strong and principled leadership and demand the immediate removal of terrorist nations from human rights commissions, start collection proceedings on nations that do not pay their way, expel diplomats that abuse diplomatic immunity and make known to the public social engineering schemes and other plots that may damage American sovereignty – in other words, clean house in the UN.

Leaving the UN is not an option. To leave the UN would be to disengage the enemy and to leave our allies without the strongest vote of support for positive reform. The UN is the diplomatic battleground where we can win the ideological struggle against tyranny. To do this we need an educated public, strong leadership in the House, a strong Pro-American President and a Senate with the will to assert America’s justified and benevolent vision for the world.”

    ~ Ernesto Cullari

Question for Mr. Cullari: How will the US enforce the UN to pay rent?

Another question for Mr. Cullari: Would you co-sponsor, bring to floor vote, and support passage in the House of the American Sovereignty Restoration Act?

Additional reading for those so inclined:

This is what the UN has in store for the US.
Rio+20 “zero draft” called “The Future We Want” — doubling down on “Millenium Development Goals” a.k.a. “Agenda 21” with full implementation worldwide by 2015.

  24. peter_lance said at 4:23 am on May 23rd, 2012:

Are you people crazy or what? Little or Cullari I have not decided, I was hoping to see the debate and decide. Ernesto is missing an opportunity by listening to Hart. She will destroy his campaign. If Cullari does not show up, my mind will be made.
Now as for Bader Qarmout, lets not let the Butt boogers at CNJ label this good conservative as anything but what he is, a solid conservative. Everyone who is reading this heard Bader Qarmout speak at one event or another, and most heard him speak twice. We all know who and what Qarmout is and stands for. We all know that his immigration reform plan may not be perfect, it certainly not amnesty. The plan from Qarmout is more than what the current politicians have given us. If we get rid of the criminal illegals and shut the border, we will have about 15 million illegals, who are in America and not paying taxes. Why not get them to pay 20.00 a week for 10 years. Lets do the math, that comes out to $150 Billion Dollars (off of Qarmout’s website) and they will be paying taxes and keep money in America (we want them to open bank accounts) its a win/win/win. According to Qarmout website, they can not vote. The illegals are here anyway, why not fix Reagan’s mistake. The real criminals are the politicians like Joe Kyrillos who have done nothing with all the illegals in Monmouth County specially Freehold. Anyone with 1/4 of a brain (sorry Rob Adolph Eichmann that excludes you and your girly friends) can see if something has a $10,000.00 fine that’s not amnesty. Amnesty is free, fine is not free. logic fallows that fine is not amnesty. (I typed this part very slow for your, ok) Adolph Eichmann knows that and he is trying to drive a wedge between the TEA Parties and pinning them not only against each other but also against Qarmout. We must remain strong and committed to ourselves and each other, nothing will piss off Adolph more. I Live in Bergan County and people do not know Kyrillos or Qarmout. But I know if Qarmout wins June 5th, his Immigration plan will slaughter Menendez because Latinos will leave Menendez and vote Qarmout. We all know that Kyrillos can not beat Menendez, why not vote for Bader and give him a chance. Read his immigration plan https://sites.google.com/a/bgq4nj.com/bgq4nj/blog/theqarmoutimmigrationreformplanacommonsensesolutiontoadifficultproblem It will work. Eichmann knows Qarmout can win, why else is Eichmann working so hard to help Kyrillos? Some Conservative you are Eichmann shilling for a RINO like Kyrillos and Lance, your girlfriend must be proud of you. Do get her mad, she just might kick you out of HER house. Stop wasting time and put the beer down, and get a job so some day you can pay your own bills and stop living off your girlfriend. Some kind of Conservative you turned out to be, its called personal responsibility, you speak of it hypocrite.

  25. TR said at 7:25 am on May 23rd, 2012:

Yes let’s continue to waste time arguing about a meaningless race. Here is some advice. Put all your efforts and resources into the Romney and Kyrillos campaigns and just maybe we can get rid of Obama and Menenenendez. This race is just a side show distraction.

Oh wait I forgot the Tea Party is backing Ron Paul and Bader Qarmout. BWAHAHAHAHAHA. I don’t know what they are putting in their tea over there but it sure must be mind bending.

I would have thought that Ernesto should go until I read Mark Falzon’s comment above.

Look at the hostility toward Ernesto.

    Holy Cow!

Any question that this was a set-up has been answered by that comment.

This guy Falzon thinks he is a Tea Party leader?

How about this – I challenge Mark Falzon to a debate about Constitutional history and powers on the very night he expects Ernesto to debate Ann Little.

    You in, Mark?

Went from Cain, Bachman,Perry to Gingrich, now Paul. Seems if backed by the Tea Party, it’s the kiss of death. Hey TP why not back Obama

  28. agree with Peter said at 9:14 am on May 23rd, 2012:

Couldn’t agree with you more Peter on a few of your points, especially Hart destroying his campaign. How Mr Cullari does not see her track record speaks volumes about his judgement or ability to put together a winning team.

  29. Mark Falzon said at 9:38 am on May 23rd, 2012:

JR, my hostility is towards the allegations I “sandbagged” Cullari. I have met Ernesto several times and it was congenial. Our group, Jersey Shore hasn’t endorsed anyone and this debate was to resolve that issue. I will debate you, sure. But why limit the topic? Let’s air it all out, buddy, but is the Constitution your specialty? Who is trying to “sandbag” who now?

  30. John McClott said at 11:27 am on May 23rd, 2012:

All the Anna Little supporters are INSANE and Gonzalez is an egotistical shell of a leader. As she “calls out” Hart, wasnt it Hart who got your organization off the ground?

As for Falzone, you are a hollow shell as well. YOU ARE A DEMOCRAT running a Tea Party group. Talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

In closing.. everyone supporting Anna should do a background check on her… WAKE UP, she is insane and a very bad person. She is an actress and apparently a good one if she can fool all of you. Either that or you are just dumb.

  31. Tom Stokes said at 11:42 am on May 23rd, 2012:

John McClott – there is absolutely nothing wrong for a democrat, like Mark Falzon, who happens to be an old fashioned democrat conservative, running a Tea Party group. I only wish we had more conservative democrats who could balance out the extreme left wing which has taken over their party.

Taxed Enough Already applies to everyone, democrats, independents and republicans. Mark should be welcomed by all conservatives to this fight for respect for the constitution, limited government and spending within our means.

Keep up the fight, Mark. And let’s remember who the opposition is – the current occupant of the White House and the followers of their Dear Leader.

  32. Mark Falzon said at 11:48 am on May 23rd, 2012:

McClott, or Sherlock, it is widely known I am a Dem and I make zero effort to conceal it. I came out of NYC. I see no issue with an old style Dem who supports the Constitution being involved in the TP Movement. We are around, i.e Koch helping the GOP’s Turner win the Dems Weiner seat.
Hart was involved w/Bayshore for a while but in 09 and early 10 when Bayshore was getting started Hart was not involved.

  35. Gretel said at 8:09 pm on May 23rd, 2012:

Wow! Is this the same Kelly Hart that campaigned for Anna last time? What a 180 she did. No hard feelings but why? What doesn’t make sense to me is that Anna Little hasn’t changed her position, not even one little bit, since last election. Why then, would you want to back a guy who’s not even registered to vote in the district for which he’s running? I, for one, am grateful that Anna is solid in her beliefs.

  36. Freespeaker1976 said at 10:06 pm on May 23rd, 2012:

    @ Gretel,

Maybe Kelly is not behind Anna because Anna has trouble working with people, especially campaign managers; having been through 3 or 4 the first time around. This time, I think it’s at least two campaign managers; and I am of the understanding she now has none.

BTW, Leigh Ann Bellew backed her in 2010; I am not so sure that she is this time around. Word has it they had a falling out as well.

It’s a matter of Anna being a very difficult person to work for and being a person who will not take sage and seasoned advice. Oh yeah, and then there are those votes in the Highlands.

    Anna is a loose cannon.

Oh, that not even registered to vote thing? You are wrong on that as well. He did register to vote in Asbury. I believe that’s covered somewhere on MMM.

Art, can you post that link?
