Golden: Curley is tone deaf, disgraceful and puts himself first
Disgraced Freeholder John Curley was Censured and Reprimanded for sexual harassment.
Disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley filed to run for reelection as an Independent candidate this afternoon. NewJerseyGlobe was the first to report his candidacy and said he submitted over 400 signatures. In a press release, Curley said he would run under the banner, “Fighting Corruption Together.”
Curley compared himself to former Freeholders Ted Narozanick and Barbara McMorrow. “This Freeholders (sic) seat has a rich, bipartisan history of individuals that put people first, from Ted Narozanick to Barbara McMorrow, and people recognize that I am continuing their tradition. I look forward to serving the residents of Monmouth County for another three years,” he said in his release.
Monmouth County Republican Chairman, Sheriff Shaun Golden issued the following statement upon learning of Curley’s candidacy:

The Fallen Firefighters Memorial was dedicated at the Monmouth County Fire Academy in Howell on Sunday morning during a moving ceremony that commemorated the courage of the 47 heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting the lives and property of county residents from 1881 through 2017. He was a legend, a role model, and a mentor to all who followed in the footsteps he left behind while paving the way for the renaissance of our beautiful county.
Many of us were lucky enough to call Ted ‘friend.’ Yet even those who just happened upon him on a street corner, in a restaurant, or at the County Fair would tell you that he treated everyone he met as though he had known them for 50 years. Citing his personal experience on how difficult the job of Party Chairman is, former Monmouth Republican Chairman Fred Niemann issued an endorsement letter for John Bennett today.
Niemann served one term as Monmouth GOP Chair from 2004 -2006, a tumultuous time in the Party’s history that included the Operation Bid Rig arrests, raucous nominating conventions and the emergence of blogs and other new media.
While praising both Bennett and his opponent for Chairman, Sheriff Shaun Golden, Niemann argued that an elected official can not manage the conflicts or make the tough decisions a Chairman must make.
