Smith’s anti-Semitism bill becomes law

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building on an amendment he wrote in 2004 to create a Special Envoy to combat anti-Semitism, this week Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) successfully pushed enactment of his Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act that expands the authority of the office and elevates the Envoy to that of Ambassador-at-Large, granting the position added clout to fight the rise in worldwide anti-Semitism.

Barbara Lanuto, Vice Chairwoman of the Ocean County Republican Organization, endorsed Jack Ciattarelli for the Republican nomination for Governor of New Jersey.

“Jack Ciattarelli is far and away our best choice to take on and defeat Phil Murphy in November, and I urge all Ocean County Republicans –and Republicans around our state–to get behind his candidacy,” said Lanuto who is also Deputy County Clerk and served as Acting Chairwoman of the Party following the resignation of George Gilmore in 2019.

Officials expect to reduce New Jersey’s prison population 35% since the start of the pandemic by March

On November 4, 2020, prisons in the State of New Jersey started releasing over two thousand (2,000) inmates nearing the end of their sentences as part of New Jersey’s effort to address coronavirus transmissions in crowded prison facilities. The early release of eligible prisoners is in line with Senate Bill No. 2519 (S2519) which was enacted and signed into law on October 19, 2020. The legislation provides for the grant of “public health emergency credits” to certain inmates and parolees during public health emergencies. It further prohibits contact with victims upon release of inmate awarded credits.
