Monmouth County: Sheriff Shaun Golden is reinforcing the message to prepare, plan, stay informed and get involved as National Preparedness Month gets underway. National Preparedness Month, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is an effort to educate the public on how to prepare for emergencies. This year’s National Preparedness theme is: Prepared Not Scared.
“The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with numerous agencies, prepares for emergencies such as natural disasters, active shooters, mass casualties and chemical threats throughout the year by conducting drills, training, tabletops exercises and educational programs,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden whose agency runs the Office of Emergency Management. “These types of training exercises are critical in ensuring that we can effectively and efficiently respond to crises situations. It’s vital the public plays a role as well by preparing, planning and staying informed.”

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend! A new school year is officially upon us and that means it is time to be extra cautious when driving around our communities!
It’s always important – and especially now that children are back in school – that everyone obeys speed limits, stops for pedestrians and avoids distractions when driving. It’s also important that pedestrians and children walking to school use crosswalks or cross at intersections and wait for the walk signal before stepping into the road.
As the school year begins, I will be sending notices to school districts once again to let them know I am always happy to meet with students of all ages to discuss civics and the role of county government. Last year I had the opportunity to meet with students in several towns throughout the county including Red Bank, Belmar, Eatontown, Long Branch, Tinton Falls and Asbury Park. Adam Geller
Pollster extraordinaire Adam Geller, president of National Research, Inc., Holmdel, has signed on with America First Action PAC and America First Policies, according to a report at Washington Examiner.
The news in June that Geller had been “fired” by the Trump campaign was fake. Joining the Super PAC was always the plan. The FEC mandated “cooling off period” before a professional can move between a campaign and a PAC supporting the same candidate recently expired.

What’s tackier than Christmas decorations before Halloween? Political signs before Labor Day.
The Matawan Democrats put their signs out two weeks ago. The Republicans responded by promising to pass a sign ordinance if they take control on election day. A sign ordinance in Matawan wouldn’t keep this sign from being posted even on the 4th of July. It’s in Aberdeen and is their, on Township property, with the blessing of Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliani who is very fond of the Cannon boys.
Republicans are taking orders for their signs on facebook.

Labor Day weekend is projected to be beautiful. However, Jersey Shore beaches have been experiencing dangerous riptides recently. This trend is expected to continue through the weekend.
Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden recorded this video earlier this summer with Chief Lifeguard Tim Harmon of Sea Girt to warn of the dangers of riptides and how to avoid a tragedy in the ocean.
