Live, from New Jersey … is Joe Piscopo actually going to run for governor?

NEW YORK — Joe Piscopo had just gone to a commercial break during his New York City morning radio show when his producer, Frank “Five Boroughs” Morano, interjected with a query. Morano said he spent part of the weekend playing Trivial Pursuit with his parents, only to be stumped by this question: “Which ‘Saturday Night Live’… Read the rest of this entry »

Is Christie setting Guadagno up for failure?

If Governor Chris Christie was still popular in New Jersey, or Washington, the New Jersey press corps would be pushing a narrative that Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno “is no Chris Christie.”

But Christie is less popular in New Jersey than Anthony Weiner is with Hillary Clinton supporters. Thus the narrative is that Guadagno has been Christie’s second in command and has stood behind him (literally and figuratively) for seven years while New Jersey’s economy has remained stagnant, our credit rating downgraded continuously, and traffic was a mess in Fort Lee for a few days in 2013.

Thus, as Guadagno is running to replace Christie next January, she has to show New Jersey voters that she is no Chris Christie while threading a needle to avoid Christie’s famously vindictive wrath. That’s a difficult endeavor.

Guadagno, Walker, Call On NJ Dem Gubernatorial Candidate To Apologize For Comparing Trump To Hitler

Following a Save Jersey post that exposed the New Jersey Democratic establishment’s candidate for governor comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno called on Phil Murphy of Middletown to apologize for the “inexcusable” and “shameful” comments.

“Phil Murphy’s comparison of the President of the United States to Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler is repulsive and inexcusable,” said Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. “His stunning lack of judgement and sensitivity is insulting to those whose families suffered, died or fought during World War II. It diminishes the slaughter of six million Jews and he should apologize to the people of New Jersey immediately.”

Guadagno not such a dark horse vs. Murphy | Opinion

By Alan J. Steinberg This has been the week of the entry of Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno into New Jersey’s 2017 gubernatorial race. The conventional wisdom of the state’s political class is that Guadagno will win the Republican nomination and lose by a substantial margin in the general election to the likely Democratic nominee, former Goldman… Read the rest of this entry »

Guadagno’s running for N.J. governor, and away from Christie

KEANSBURG — As Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno formally launched her 2017 bid for governor Tuesday, she avoided any talk of the unpopular governor who gave her a shot in statewide politics eight years ago. Promising that “better days are ahead in New Jersey,” Guadagno in her 22-minute speech at a Mexican restaurant La Playa did not… Read the rest of this entry »

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno is speaking her own mind and getting establishing independence from Governor Chris Christie.

Guadagno went onto Bill Spadea’s morning radio show at NJ 101.5 and agreed with Spadea that voters should reject ballot question 2, the provision that would dedicate the new gas tax revenues to transportation projects.  Spadea and Guadagno are arguing that the dedication of the revenue will allow Trenton to borrow billions  of dollars to fund the projects.

Before Guadagno completed her segment on the show, Christie’s spokesman Brian Murray issued the following statement:

Governor Chris Christie is back on the Town Hall circuit…now he is calling them forums…as he meets New Jersey voters on Tuesday in Wall Township to promote the school funding formula that he announced last week.

The “Fairness Formula Forum” will take place in the Wall branch of the Monmouth County Library, 2700 Allaire Rd., Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.  The doors open at 2:15 p.m and seating his first come first served.  RSVPs are encouraged for planning purposes to  [email protected].

Christie is saying that he wants a referendum in 2017 to amend the State Constitution so that State education funding is distributed equally to all school age children throughout the New Jersey.  He says that the State would contribute $6,500 per student.  Currently roughly 75% of State funding goes to 31 school districts, formerly referred to Abbott districts for the landmark Abbott vs Burke NJ Supreme Court decision that mandated that the State subsidize poor and urban districts.

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today announced the formation of a policy think tank committed to creating solutions to New Jersey’s “crisis point that threatens New Jersey’s hardworking families.”

Building a Better NJ Together will focus on policy, not politics, Guadagno said on a conference call.  The group’s mission is to get input and contributions from all New Jerseyans to solve the state’s pressing problems caused by deep-rooted and complex causes once and for all.  The group will “strive to unite New Jerseyans around the shared goal of a smaller, more efficient government that fights for our middle class families and protects our most vulnerable, all while opening opportunities for the residents of our state to enjoy a more prosperous future.”

Guadagno is the Honorary Chair of the tank.

In an exclusive interview with MoreMonmouthMusings, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno said that she is pleased that the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court has ruled that documents associated with the investigation into her hiring of a retired detective when she was the Monmouth County Sheriff will be released within 45 days.

“The New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) and the Police and Firemen’s  Retirement System (PFRS) have investigated my actions while Monmouth County Sheriff, regarding the hiring and compensation of an employee and found nothing.  When the internal investigative documents that the blogger has sued for are released, they will show – again-  that I acted appropriately and in the best interests of Monmouth County taxpayers,” Guadagno said.

Appellate Judges George S. Leone and Carol E. Higbee ruled on Thursday that two documents , a three page letter date June 6, 2011 from PFRS to the Attorney General requesting an investigation and one page letter dated June 21, 2012 from the Division of Criminal Justice(DCJ) to PFRS on the status of the investigation, shall be released.   Leone and Higbee’s ruling overturned a ruling by Superior Court Judge Mary C. Jacobson that the State had the right to withhold the documents from Mark Lagerkvist, a blogger who has used his allegations against Guadagno to kick start his career.
