What is Josh Welle hiding? Congressional candidate is in violation of the Ethics in Government Act

The front runner for the Democrat nomination to run against Congressman Chris Smith in the 4th Congressional District has failed to file his Financial Disclosure Report with the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

Josh Welle, address unknown, won the endorsement to challenge Congressman Smith at the Monmouth County Democrat Mini-Convention last weekend when he earned 60% of the delegates’ votes to 40% for former Asbury Park Councilman Jim Keady.  Welle is heavily favored to win the Ocean County endorsement at a Mini-Convention on Sunday afternoon, March 11 at Central Regional High School in Bayville. Hugin Wins Ocean GOP Endorsement, Goldberg loses endorsements he didn’t have

Former Celgene CEO Bob Hugin won the U.S. Senate endorsement of the Ocean County Republican Party tonight in Toms River, defeating the Ocean GOP’s 2014 nominee, Brian Goldberg, by a margin of 142-12.

“Ocean County delivers the highest number of Republican votes of any county in New Jersey and we are fully behind Bob Hugin,” said OCGOP Chairman George Gilmore. “We need a Senator that New Jersey can be proud of again, and we are confident Bob is that person.  We will deliver for Bob and all of our GOP candidates on November 6th.”

Monmouth Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Communications Center Receives National Recogintion

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden and Undersheriff Robert Dawson were in Washington yesterday to accept the the Outstanding 9-1-1 Call Center/Program Award from the NG9-1-1 Institute and the Congressional NextGen 9-1-1 Caucus.   The ceremony took place at the Rayburn House Office Building.

Congressman Chris Smith honors WWII Vet on his birthday

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ4) presented U.S. Navy veteran Bill Kelly with a U.S. Flag which had flown over the Capitol during a celebration of the WWII hero’s 93rd birthday earlier this week at the Claremont Center in Pt. Pleasant.

Kelly served on the U.S.S. Laffey during World War Two. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received in battle on board the ship on April 16, 1945, when the Laffey endured a large-scale kamikaze air attack by Japanese planes. Read the rest of this entry »

House passes Conceal Carry Reciprocity, Smith and Pallone vote No

The U. S. House of Representatives passed the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 today, 231-198 with six Democrats voting ‘Aye.’  Fourteen Republicans voted against the bill, including Chris Smith and Leonard Lance of New Jersey.  Congressman Frank Pallone, who along with Smith represents Monmouth County, voted against the bill.

“Today, the House took action to protect our citizens’ Second Amendment rights,” said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., in a statement. “The truth is that concealed carry laws save lives. Right now, current law creates confusion for people who cross state borders with a lawful concealed carry permit. Improvements Started At Colts Neck Bottleneck

Federal, state, county and local officials gathered in Colts Neck on Friday for the ground breaking of the long awaited improvements to the intersection of State Route 34 and County Route 537.  The project is designed to ease traffic congestion at the crossroad that is traveled by 37,000 motorists daily and to reduce the use of local roads by the thousands of motorists using alternate routes.
