House Unanimously Passes $2 trillion economic stimulus

The House of Representatives unanimously passed the $ 2 trillion CARES Act this afternoon in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Rep Chris Smith is supporting County Governments’ Work To Thwart The Spread of COVID-19

Monmouth County Freeholders Sue Kiley and Nick DiRocco, joined by County Administrator Teri O’Connor, briefed Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) on the work being done in Monmouth to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, as well as to help County residents deal with the stressors the pandemic may bring.

Smith said that though the County is limiting visitors to all offices, all golf courses, parks and open spaces remain open and may offer needed respite. The Freeholders also discuss the testing, screening and tracing being done, and also briefed the congressman on the bank of volunteers who are answering calls at the Monmouth County Health Department.

Congressman Chris Smith Is Assisting CD-4 Public Health Officials

Freehold Township, NJ —Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) continues reaching out to public health officials in his district including Dan Regenye, Ocean County Public Health Coordinator to offer “absolutely any advocacy and assistance necessary on the federal level” to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

            Smith said Regenye briefed him on the “mutually reinforcing aggressive steps” Ocean County has undertaken including the push to identify and test at-risk people, school closing and need for students during closures to adhere to “social distancing—no parties or sleepovers” and the need for personal protective equipment (PPE), especially for health workers and first responders.

Schmid laments Warren’s withdrawal from presidential race

Stephanie Schmid, once considered the front runner for the Democrat nomination to run against Congressman Chris Smith in the Fourth Congressional District, announced on facebook that she is sad to see Senator Elizabeth Warren withdraw from the presidential race.

The holistic business guru and former UN staffer will be the official Party candidate for Congress in the Mercer portion of 4th Congressional District in the June 2 primary.

Stephanie Schmid says her ex-boyfriends are funding her congressional campaign

Stephanie Schmid, the apparent establishment Democrat choice to run against Congressman Chris Smith, told a candidates forum sponsored by the Greater Red Bank Women’s Initiative that she her nationwide cortege of ex-boyfriends are funding her congressional campaign. She implied that one of her opponents for the Democrat nomination in CD-4 is tapping her own exes for campaign cash as well.

Schmid was responding to her opponent, Christine Marie Conforti, informing the audience that 85% of Schmid’s donations over $1000 came from donors who do not live in New Jersey. Read the rest of this entry »

Keady’s CD-4 candidacy is “day to day” following establishment ambush

Keady running for CD-4 2020 Dem nomination

Former Asbury Park Councilman Jim Keady is taking another shot at the Democrat nomination to challenge  Congressman Chris Smith next year.

Keady lost the nomination to trespasser Josh Welle in 2018.

He announced his candidacy with two fundraising tweets yesterday that did not explicitly say he is running. He confirmed he is a candidate via text message and has registered with the FEC.

An unabashed Bernie Sanders supporter, Keady is running on a platform of Medicare for all, free college for all and the green new deal that would ban cow farts, gasoline and air conditioning.

Five other candidates have filed with the FEC as candidates for the CD-4 Democrat nomination.

Congressman Smith Announces Service Academy Info Night On April 18

WASHINGTON, D.C.— High school and college students from the Fourth Congressional District who are interested in attending a United States Service Academy are invited to Congressman Chris Smith’s Service Academy Information Night, to be held Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The event will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Naval Weapons Station Earle, 201 Highway 34 in Colts Neck, NJ. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Students, as well as parents, counselors and educators, who wish to learn about competing for a nomination to one of the Service Academies, are invited to attend.
