MoreMonmouthMusings is monitoring the elections results from Anna Little Headquarters at the Shore Casino in Atlantic Highlands. There appears to be about 200 people here already.
We’ll be posting results, interviews and commentary as the night goes on. It looks to be big Republican night. Marco Rubio has been declared the winner in Florida. Rand Paul won in Kentucky. Christine O’Donnell lost in Deleware, according to the New York Times.
The turnout is said to be great throughout Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. What does that mean?
One senior Monmouth Democrat told me they were expected a blood bath in local races, but that Pallone and Holt would still win by a couple of points.
Gerry Scharfenberger told me the turnout is very strong in Middletown and that it appears to be 2-1 R.
The turnout in Highlands is high, both R’s and D’s are out. Pallone had a nasty piece arrive in the mail yesterday. Is that bringing the D’s out?
Middlesex County Republcian candidates are posting on facebook that the turnout is strong and steady. They seem to feel good about it.
Frank Pallone tweeted that SEIU health care workers are canvassing for him. I have visions of seniors being dragged from their nursing home beds for one last vote before they move on the heaven or Chicago.
Rebecca Williams, a “New” Democrat running for council in Plainfield, told me the turnout was “pretty good.” Darn! She told Poltickernj it was light this morning. It is not snowing in Plainfield.
I’m so nervous that I incorrectly made a credit card payment on the web for $4000 when I meant to pay $400. I called the company and thankfully didn’t have to push 1 to speak to an English speaking person in Bombay. Angela, the nice lady in Florida, where it is cloudy and raining, calmly listened to me while I solved the problem myself on the website. I told her that talking to her was better than Xanax. That made her day. Then I told her to vote for Marco and she rushed me off the phone, “we’re not allowed to talk about that.” I’ve never taken Xanax. Is it any good?
Toni Angelini told me, via facebook, to have a drink. I told her I was affraid of doing something (or writing something) stupid. I think I just did that anyway.
(HIGHLANDS, November 1) – Republican Congressional challenger Anna Little’s campaign wrapped up its final full day on the campaign trail today with its Final Argument.
If you believe that:
Your taxes are too low
Washington doesn’t spend enough of your money already
Washington bureaucrats should be involved in your personal health care decisions
Borrowing trillions of dollars and handing the bill to your grandchildren is fair
Our nation is heading in the right direction
Then your vote is clear – 22-year incumbent Frank Pallone is your man.
But if you believe that:
Your taxes are too high
Washington already spends too much of your money
Washington bureaucrats have no business between you and your Doctor
Borrowing trillions of dollars and handing the bill to your grandchildren is immoral
Our nation is heading in the wrong direction
Then your vote is just as clear – Anna Little needs your vote!
It is time. We have knocked. We have walked. We have talked. We have worked and toiled and extended ourselves in a passionate and committed campaign. The collective efforts have been heroic and inspiring. We have a mere 24 hours of “prep” remaining and then the boxer will enter the arena and the bell will ring. We are ready.
Final Contrast
If you need one last reminder what this election is all about, if you need to view a final contrast between the visions of reform versus the failing status quo, then please take 26 minutes to view the third Sipprelle-Holt debate on NJN here:
PRINCETON, NJ — The final USAToday/Gallup measure of Americans’ voting intentions for Congress shows Republicans continuing to hold a substantial lead over Democrats among likely voters, a lead large enough to suggest that regardless of turnout, the Republicans will win more than the 40 seats needed to give them the majority in the U.S. House.
The results are from Gallup’s Oct. 28-31 survey of 1,539 likely voters. It finds 52% to 55% of likely voters preferring the Republican candidate and 40% to 42% for the Democratic candidate on the national generic ballot — depending on turnout assumptions. Gallup’s analysis of several indicators of voter turnout from the weekend poll suggests turnout will be slightly higher than in recent years, at 45%. This would give the Republicans a 55% to 40% lead on the generic ballot, with 5% undecided.
The Asbury Park Press has yet to report on this poll sponsored by their parent company’s flagship paper.
The lead story on APP.com? Baby elephant attacked by crocodile.
The attack did not happen in Monmouth or Ocean County.

In another encouraging sign for Republicans, the baby elephant was saved by its herd who scared off the croc by trumpeting and stamping around like Tea Partiers.
If turnout at pre-election rallies are an indicator of voter turnout, Anna Little will be the Congresswoman from the 6th district of New Jersey during the 112th Congress.
Last night at the Shore Casino in Atlantic Highlands some 300 Republicans, Tea Partiers and Independents rallied with Little, the Monmouth County ticket of Sheriff Shaun Golden, Freeholder candidates Rob Clifton and Tom Arnone and the Atlantic Highlands Council ticket of Lou Fligorand Jake Hoffman. Across the hall, 30 people (a generous estimate) mingled with Frank Palloneand the Monmouth County and Atlantic Highlands Democratric candidates.
300 are expected again tonight for the GOP team at Bachstadt’s in Middletown with Governor Christie. If the Monmouth Democrats are rallying tonight they won’t have a headliner. Presidents Obama and Clinton are elsewhere. Corzine wasn’t invited.
Turnout will be the key to victory. All signs point to a broken glass turnout for Republicans, i.e. Republican voters will crawl through broken glass to vote. There are no signs of Democratic voters being so motivated.
I’ve been worried about Plainfield where Democrats outnumber Republicans 12-1. Plainfield has been part of the district since the last census in 2000. Pallone has ignored it until very recently. There is no passion for Pallone in Plainfield.
Reading the popular blog Plainfield Today, I learned that the Democrats are divided there after a contentious primary where the “New Democrats” defeated the establishment lead by Assemblyman Jerry Green for the local offices. There is no competitive local race to boost turnout in Plainfield. That race was won in June and the anti-establishment sentiment prevailed. While there is reason to be cautiously optimistic about Plainfield, I still praying for a snow storm there and only there.
In Middlesex County, the Republicans are running their best campaign in memory. They have a legitimate shot of cracking the Democratic stronghold in that county which will boost both Little and NJ-12 candidate Scott Sipprelle.
Murray Sabrin says that if Little wins the GOP will pick up 100 seats in the House. I hope that happens. However, and I could be wrong, but from where I sit Little shocks everybody and defeats Frank Pallone by a larger margin than Scott Sipprelle defeats Rush Holt and by a larger margin than Jon Runyan defeats John Adler. There is no passion for Pallone. There is plenty of passion against Pallone. There is even more passion for Little.
Little’s MONEY BOMB that we started on Friday night has raised over $9000 as of this morning. Let’s double, or better, today. Donate here.
More importantly, turn out the vote. Talk to your friends, families and co-workers. Make it happen.
Governor Christie will be rallying Anna Little, Sheriff Shaun Golden, Freeholder Rob Clifton, Mayor Tom Arnone, Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger and Kevin Settembrino and hundreds of their supporters at Bachstadt’s Tavern, 8 Bray Ave, Middletown.
The event starts at 7PM.
