“All Clear” in Freehold Bomb Threat

Bomb-scare2Authorities have issued an “all clear” after no explosives were found this evening at the AMC Theater complex in the Freehold Raceway Mall, according to a statement issued by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christoper J. Gramiccioni.

A theater employee discovered a note in the men’s room at 5 p.m. which stated there were multiple bombs in the complex set to detonate this evening. Theater management evacuated the building and contacted the Freehold Township Police Department.  K-9 units from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, Middletown and Wall police departments, New Jersey Homeland Security, Freehold Independent Fire Company, and Freehold First Aid responded to assist the FTPD.

The theater was cleared of any explosives at 6:51 p.m.

Rabbi Gets Stung for 38 Months

rabbiMartin Wolmark, a 57 year old Orthodox Rabbi from Monesy,NY, was sentenced to 38 months in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to coerce a Jewish man to grant his wife a “get”, a religious divorce, through violence and threats of violence, a according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman.

Wolmark pleaded guilty in February.

On Aug. 7, 2013, Wolmark spoke with a woman and her brother about obtaining a Jewish divorce from the woman’s recalcitrant husband. A get is a divorce document which, according to Jewish Law, must be presented by a husband to his wife to effect their divorce. Unbeknownst to Wolmark, the woman and the brother were actually undercover FBI agents.

Ocean Township Police seek help in locating armed robbers

assetContentAn occupied Spruce Ave. home in the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township was invaded by two armed men on Saturday evening, December 13, according to an announcement by the Township Police Department.

No one was injured when the two armed men entered the single family home and pointed handguns at the residents.  The two men took personal property from the residents and fled the scene.

Officers responded at 8:30 p.m.

Monmouth Poll: Trump Widens National Lead

_donald_trump_2_jt_150718_16x9_992-340x191 (1)Donald Trump will probably have nice things to say about the Monmouth University Poll again. Trump derided Patrick Murray’s poll last week that showed his support in Iowa slipping to Senator Ted Cruz. Previously, Trump has praised Monmouth polls that show him during well.

In a poll released today, Murray is 95% certain that Trump’s national support for the 2016 GOP Presidential nomination among Republican voters is between 36% and 46%.

Trump’s next closest competitor is Texas Senator Ted Cruz, with 9-19% support. (95% certainty).  Trump’s current support is up from 28% in the October Monmouth Poll that he said nice things about.

Murray surveyed 1006 randomly selected American adults.  358 of them self-identified as Republican or Republican leaning voters.

Cantor seeks to unseat Golden as Monmouth County Sheriff

1606336_465970393508398_1875961369_oMarlboro Councilman Jeff Cantor announced this morning that he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Monmouth County Sheriff in 2016.

A Colonel in the U.S, Army Reserves, Cantor cited his military experience in intelligence, emergency management and anti-terrorism as reasons he could do “a tremendous job” as sheriff in a phone interview with MMM.

Cantor has served on the Marlboro Council since 2004, including while deployed on active duty overseas. During his deployments, he participated in Council meetings via telephone.  He told MMM that he doesn’t think he will be deployed in the next two years before he retires from the military, “but it depends on what happens in Syria.”

Expected Pot Delivery Turns Into Armed Robbery In Atlantic Highlands

assetContentTwo Atlantic Highlands residents were surprised on Thursday when the the guys they ordered marijuana from pulled a gun and pepper spray, robbed them of $265 and fled the scene.

The victims, who were not named in Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni’s press release, called the Atlantic Highlands Police Department.   The Sea Bright Police Department spotted the robber’s vehicle on Ocean Avenue a short while later and followed the perps into Rumson. The Atlantic Highlands PD arrested the men in Rumson.

Christie’s Bridgegate legal tab climbs to $8 million
