O’Scanlon: Murphy’s Draconian Restrictions Are Proven Unnecessary, Economically Devastating

Getting their Irish up

Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) today criticized the Murphy administration’s continued blockade of New Jersey’s reopening and cited numerous metrics from surrounding states’ successful reopening.

“That the Governor, with a straight face, can cite a debunked study of an incident that happened over 8,000 miles away involving a restaurant in China with a wheezy, inadequate ventilation system that doesn’t conform to standards used in this country…to justify continuing to kill businesses here in New Jersey is outrageous and demoralizing for anyone trying to hold out hope that there’s any real, scientific focus on our safety and the health of our economy,” said O’Scanlon. “That the Governor, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, continues to suggest that we have to continue to destroy thousands of businesses and jobs and livelihoods is simply unconscionable.”

Smith notes Social Security’s 85th year

View this post on Instagram

Today, #SocialSecurity turns 85 years old. Now more than ever, we must vigorously defend and safeguard both Social Security and Medicare—our nation’s sacred trusts with senior citizens and retirees. Senior citizens in New Jersey and across the country have worked hard throughout their lives to provide for their families and help build our communities, all while paying into Social Security and Medicare. These critical programs serve as a foundation for economic and healthcare security for millions of older Americans. A commitment was made, and the commitment must be kept. As I have done throughout my time in Congress, I will remain steadfast, working to ensure we deliver on promises made to retired and disabled beneficiaries who have earned, and now rely upon, their Social Security and Medicare benefits.
