Congressman Chris Smith and Teresa St. Angelo
Each year the Library of Congress (LoC) chooses a Teacher-in-Residence to serve in Washington for one year. For the 2016-2017 school year, that one person will be Teresa St. Angelo of Freehold Township, N.J., Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-04) said today.
Teresa St. Angelo, a kindergarten teacher in Manalapan will work with its Educational Outreach office to help teachers and school librarians incorporate the Library’s digitized primary sources into high-quality instruction. The Educational Outreach office is responsible for directing and developing the Library’s efforts to make its resources accessible, relevant and compelling to the nation’s K-12 community to bring the Library’s resources to classrooms across the country.

FREEHOLD – Small town America showed how big and magnificent it really is as the borough of Freehold’s Human Relations Committee conducted its Sept. 11 Remembrance ceremony at borough hall Sunday evening.
More than 500 participants and spectators filled the chairs and spilled out into Main Street, which the Mayor and Council had closed to vehicular traffic for the event to hear and see people of all ages participate in the program honoring the 147 residents of Monmouth County who lost their lives in the attacks 15 years ago.
Jane Fields chaired the event for the Committee, assisted by cochairman Gianna Dell’Omo.

Monmouth County Deputy Freeholder Director Serena DiMaso distributed sackpacks filled with school supplies to students of the Freehold Learning Center earlier today. The colorful sackpacks and the school supplies were donated by the Office Depot Foundation as part of their 2016 National Backpack Program in partnership with the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL).

The owner of a Freehold gymnastics facility that caters to teen and pre-teen girls was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of third degree possession of child pornography, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Ronald L. Charles, 51, of Love Lane in Freehold Township attempted to send multiple images on child pornography from his personal email address, according a tip CyberTip received by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit and the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Regional Task Force from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

FREEHOLD – For the second time in less than a week a bomb threat was made at the AMC Theater complex at the Freehold Raceway Mall, and again authorities have sounded an “all clear” after no explosives were discovered inside this afternoon, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
A series of notes were discovered inside the men’s room of the theater around 11:30 a.m. Friday containing threats to the theater. The theater was evacuated and no credible threat or explosives were discovered on scene. The theater was reopened about two hours and 15 minutes later.

Authorities have issued an “all clear” after no explosives were found this evening at the AMC Theater complex in the Freehold Raceway Mall, according to a statement issued by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christoper J. Gramiccioni.
A theater employee discovered a note in the men’s room at 5 p.m. which stated there were multiple bombs in the complex set to detonate this evening. Theater management evacuated the building and contacted the Freehold Township Police Department. K-9 units from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, Middletown and Wall police departments, New Jersey Homeland Security, Freehold Independent Fire Company, and Freehold First Aid responded to assist the FTPD.
The theater was cleared of any explosives at 6:51 p.m.
