ATLANTIC CITY — Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno was ready to give the keynote speech at the annual New Jersey State League of Municipalities just like she has for the past three years, but she said Thursday “the schedule was changed” after the text was reviewed by Gov. According to a report on Observer-PolitickerNJ, Christie told the closing luncheon of the annual New Jersey League of Municipalities Convention, that he intend to serve his full term.
“I have every intention of serving out my full term as governor. I have said that from the beginning,” Christie said. “I hope that you notice the words that he used on election night. They were his and he chose them carefully. He wants to unite this country and bring people together,” he added of Trump.
“I’m not worried and I’m not nearly as preoccupied as the people who cover me and some of the people who are attempting to follow me about where exactly this will go,” he said.
ATLANTIC CITY — The four leaders of the New Jersey Legislature said Wednesday there’s no appetite to impeach Gov. Chris Christie over the Bridgegate scandal and that more hearings on the controversy are unlikely. TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie on Monday nixed a bill that would have allowed striking workers to collect unemployment benefits. Instead, the governor sent a revised bill back to the Democratic-controlled Legislature that would amend “the language of the current law to make it clear that all striking workers are disqualified from receiving benefits,” according to… Read the rest of this entry »
With the news that President-elect Trump demoted Governor Chris Christie to a secondary role on the Presidential Transition Team, thousands of New Jerseyans breathed a sigh of relief.
The narrative that Christie was demoted because he was stacking the new administration with his own loyalists and had been doing the job with the belief that Trump would lose the election is entirely believable to observers and participants of Christie’s governance of New Jersey.
That Trump quickly and decisively put Vice President-elect Pence in charge of the transition should give comfort to anyone who fears that the Trump Administration will be a reckless frat party.
Yet, New Jerseyans are hopeful that Christie will land and accept a job in the Trump Administration. The best thing for New Jersey and Christie is for him to get out of Trenton. The sooner the better.
Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno is speaking her own mind and getting establishing independence from Governor Chris Christie.
Guadagno went onto Bill Spadea’s morning radio show at NJ 101.5 and agreed with Spadea that voters should reject ballot question 2, the provision that would dedicate the new gas tax revenues to transportation projects. Spadea and Guadagno are arguing that the dedication of the revenue will allow Trenton to borrow billions of dollars to fund the projects.
Before Guadagno completed her segment on the show, Christie’s spokesman Brian Murray issued the following statement:

Governor Chris Christie’s job approval and favorability ratings hit a new low in a FDU Public Mind Poll released this morning.
Only 21% of New Jersey’s registered voters approved on the governor’s job performance and only 29% of those voters have a favorable opinion of him, according to the poll. A majority of Republicans, 52%, disapprove of Christie’s performance. 90% of Democrats and 68% of Independents also disapprove.
“Apparently we’ve not yet found the floor for the governor’s approval among voters in the state. The recent gas tax increase that the governor supported no doubt caused some in his party to turn against him, even though he sought to reduce taxes in other areas in order to offset the increase at the pump,” said Krista Jenkins, professor of political science and director of PublicMind.
TRENTON — A judge has allowed an official misconduct complaint against Gov. Chris Christie over his role in the Bridgegate scandal to proceed, but top criminal defense attorneys and former prosecutors say it’s tough to predict what happens next because those who handle such matters have been appointed by the governor. “This is a mess, because… Read the rest of this entry »
