Competing sign teams came to blows last evening in Atlantic Highlands when long time Pallone supporter Joe Hawley assaulted Atlantic Highlands GOP chairwoman Jane Frotten, 68.
According to Frotten, Hawley was interfering with a Little sign team in the borough when she showed up and tried to reason with the him. Hawley screamed disparaging remarks about Jane’s husband Bernie, 79, and pushed her. Jane, who serves as Anna Little’s campaign treasurer, hit him back.
The Atlantic Highlands police were called to the scene. No charges have yet to be filed.
“He probably skipped his meds,” said Frotten about her assaulter.
Incumbent Congressman Frank Pallone and Rush Holt today provided the crucial votes to support Speaker Pelosi’s attempt to adjourn Congress before holding a vote to block the largest tax hikes in our history this coming January 1.
Had either of these professional politicians chosen to vote, as every Republican and 39 Democrat congressman did, in a true bi-partisan effort to prevent this massive tax hike, American workers and American businesses would have had certainty relating to the tax rates for next year. Uncertainty in these economic times is a nail in the coffin of economic recovery.
Make no mistake, Frank Pallone and Rush Holt voted today, not to lower your taxes, but to raise taxes on everyone.
The simple and sad truth is that both Pallone and Holt voted to support the ultra liberal “progressive” agenda of Nancy Pelosi, as they have consistently done in the past.
As one Republican Congressional candidate, Anna Little said, “Fifteen million Americans are looking for work, and they were looking to the Congress to block a massive tax hike scheduled to go into effect on New Year’s Day. Our unemployed friends and neighbors are smart enough to know that raising taxes on small businesses and entrepreneurs is the wrong thing to do when it comes to creating the conditions for economic growth.”
Anna Little is opposing Congressman Pallone. Republican Scott Sipprelle is opposing Congressman Holt.
In 34 days we, the people, will have the chance to send these professional politicians, Pallone and Holt, a loud and clear message. In the words of Donald Trump, “You’re Fired”.
On November 2nd, vote like your jobs, your businesses and your children’s future depends on it. Because they do!
(HIGHLANDS, September 29) – Republican congressional challenger Anna Little – responding to today’s House vote to adjourn Congress before holding a vote to enact legislation blocking planned tax hikes – this afternoon sharply criticized her opponent, 22-year incumbent Rep. Frank Pallone, for casting the deciding vote to adjourn Congress before acting to prevent a massive tax hike.
“Today, Frank Pallone showed why it’s time for him to leave Congress,” said Little. “With an economy in the ruts, he cast the deciding vote to adjourn the Congress before even holding a vote on whether or not to block a massive tax hike. His deciding vote will lead to continued uncertainty about what’s to come for our nation’s job creators, and will make job creation that much more difficult in the weeks and months to come.
“If Frank Pallone was half as concerned about his constituents’ jobs as he is about his own,” said Little, “we’d all be in better shape.
“Fifteen million Americans are looking for work, and they were looking to the Congress to block a massive tax hike scheduled to go into effect on New Year’s Day. Our unemployed friends and neighbors are smart enough to know that raising taxes on small businesses and entrepreneurs is the wrong thing to do when it comes to creating the conditions for economic growth.
“There were 39 Democrats who crossed party lines to create a bipartisan coalition supporting no adjournment before voting to block the scheduled tax hikes. Sadly, our Congressman was not one of them.
“Instead, the liberal Democrats now running the Congress jammed through a resolution of adjournment by a one-vote margin – and that vote was Frank Pallone’s.
“The simple fact is, you cannot change Washington without changing the PEOPLE in Washington.
“The good news is, there’s an election in 34 days. And then the people will have a chance to make the change we need!”
(HIGHLANDS, September 29) – Republican congressional challenger Anna Little – responding to continued failure by the Congress to enact legislation blocking planned tax hikes – today reiterated her commitment to maintaining current tax rates for all taxpayers and preventing the massive tax hike scheduled to take place on New Year’s Day.
“Another day, another 24 hours of uncertainty on taxes,” said Little. “Meanwhile, the clock counts down to the biggest tax hike in American history – something that will take our sluggish economy further downhill – and Congress is more concerned about the jobs of its own Members than it is with helping create an environment in which jobs can be created for the 15 million Americans now looking for work.
“This Congress has passed a $814 billion ‘stimulus package’ that didn’t stimulate much; passed a trillion-dollar healthcare package that reduces patient choice, cuts Medicare by $500 billion, increases insurance premiums, and imposes for the first time ever a mandate that every American purchase a product in the private market place or be fined by 16,000 new IRS agents; and passed a so-called ‘Wall Street Reform’ package that institutionalizes ‘Too Big To Fail.’
“Meanwhile, this Congress has – for the first time since the enactment of the Budget Act of 1974 – failed to pass a budget for the Federal Government. And now it’s preparing to adjourn without passing legislation to block a massive tax increase.
“In other words, this Congress has succeeded in doing things it SHOULDN’T have done, and has failed to do the things it SHOULD have done.
“But that’s par for the course in the Alice in Wonderland world that is Washington today.
“The simple fact is, you cannot change Washington without changing the PEOPLE in Washington.
“The good news is, there’s an election in 34 days. And then the people will have a chance to make their voice heard!”
HIGHLANDS, September 28) – Republican congressional challenger Anna Little – responding to further news reports indicating that Congress will likely recess without first holding a vote on whether or not to extend the current tax rates – today urged voters in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District to hold her opponent, 22-year liberal incumbent Frank Pallone, accountable.
“Congress is being run by an irresponsible majority right now,” said Little. “There’s just no other way to say it. And Frank Pallone is a huge part of the problem.
“This year, for the first time since the Budget Act was passed in 1974, Congress didn’t even pass a budget,” continued Little. “And now, it appears the liberals who run the Congress are planning to go home to campaign before they pass a bill to extend the current tax rates.”
“If they don’t pass a bill to extend the current tax rates, New Year’s Day is going to bring with it the biggest tax hike in American history – all because the liberals who run the Congress are more concerned with keeping their own jobs than they are with helping their constituents create jobs for themselves and their communities.”
“I cannot think of anything that would be more irresponsible,” said Little. “Yet, shockingly, that appears to be precisely what they’re going to do.”
“The ability to hold our elected leaders accountable with regularly scheduled elections is one of the hallmarks of American democracy,” Little continued. “But that only works if our elected leaders actually vote BEFORE the elections on crucial issues. By waiting until after the election to engage in significant legislative action, our elected leaders are in essence hiding from the public. That’s just wrong, and it’s just one more reason we need to change Washington.”
“But the simple fact is, you cannot change Washington without changing the people in Washington.”
“The good news is, there’s an election in 35 days. And then the people will have a chance to make their voice heard!”
(HIGHLANDS, September 24) – Republican congressional challenger Anna Little – responding to the release yesterday of House Republicans’ “Pledge to America” – today praised the document as a “governing agenda that will take power away from Washington and put it back in the hands of the people, where it belongs.”
“For too long, too many decisions have been made in Washington by political elites who don’t seem to care what the American people think,” said Little. “Every decision that’s made in Washington is a decision that’s not made by individual American citizens – and when you add to that the fact that Washington elites don’t seem to be paying attention to what the country wants, you just make the problem worse. That’s not what our Founders wanted for us, and that’s why the ‘Pledge to America’ is not just a governing agenda that will take power away from Washington and put it back in the hands of the people, where it belongs, it’s a modern-day restatement of the principles on which our nation was established.
“It’s not surprising, when you stop to consider that the ‘Pledge to America’ was created by actually listening to the people,” Little continued, “and therein lies its strength. The agenda laid out in the Pledge is an agenda that will respond to America’s demand for lower taxes, spending cuts, and reforming the way Washington works.
“If Washington elites – like my opponent, Frank Pallone – would spend more time listening to the people than to each other, they’d be a lot better off. And if they actually had faith in the American people, we’d all be a lot better off.
“Our campaign has garnered national attention because of our ability to mobilize grass-roots volunteers. And when the reporters ask what’s our ‘secret’ for getting them to come out and do the hard work, I explain very simply that there’s really no secret at all – people everywhere will help if you just listen to them, and respond to their needs. They’re coming out to help our campaign because they know that in doing so, they’re actually helping build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
“The simple fact is, you cannot change Washington without changing the people in Washington.
“The good news is, there’s an election in 39 days. And then the people will have a chance to make their voice heard!”
