Feds Bust Monmouth Gun Traffickers

Federal authorities charged three Monmouth County men and a Florida man and woman with with conspiring to illegally sell firearms, including handguns and a semi-automatic rifle, in and around Monmouth County, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.

Hanlon sworn in as VP of State Constitutional Officers Association

TRENTON, NJ Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon was sworn in as Vice President of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) on Sept. 24 at the New Jersey State House in Trenton. She was elected Vice President by her peers in the organization which consists of the elected Constitutional Officers of all 21 counties of the State of New Jersey. Clerk Hanlon previously served as Secretary of COANJ.

‘Soldier On’ Veterans Community Breaks Ground in Tinton Falls

Ross Licitra, Executive Director of Monmouth County SPCA and a candidate for freeholder, Freeholder Lillian Burry, Congressman Chris Smith and Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon celebrate the ground breaking of the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Village in Tinton Falls, a Soldier On project.

Local leaders and supporters of the Veterans community gathered in Tinton Falls on Saturday for the ceremonial ground breaking of a Gordan H. Mansfield Veterans Community. The $23 million, four story community with 70 one bedroom apartments is a project of Soldier On and WinnDevelopment to be built on a 12.6 acre site on Essex Road that was donated by Seabrook Village.

Murphy signs legislation extending MVC deadlines

Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation yesterday that allows the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission to use drivers license photos for twelve years, extended from the previous eight year limit, and limits certain appointment times at MVC locations to senior citizens and persons with certain medical conditions.  The Governor also signed a bill which temporarily extends deadlines to register vehicles and obtain driver’s licenses for new State residents during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

O’Scanlon challenges Murphy to stand on line at MVC

Senator Declan O’Scanlon today challenged New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to stand on line to register at vehicle at MVC.

Murphy has for weeks been sitting on legislation passed by the Senate and the Assembly that would ease the congestion and the long, unhealthy lines at MVC facilities.

O’Scanlon and his district partner, Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso, believe that Murphy would immediately sign the legislation if he appreciated the suffering that he and MVC Commissioner Sue Fulton are putting New Jersey drivers through.

Tribute in Lights to be displayed at Mt Mitchill in 9/11 remembrance

The Monmouth County Board of Freeholders will sponsor a Tribute in Lights in honor of the lives lost and the fearless display of heroism by rescue teams and citizens who responded to the tragedy on September 11, 2001. The lights will beam from the 9/11 Memorial at Mt. Mitchill in Atlantic Highlands from sunset until 11 p.m on September 11, 12, and 13.
