State Fire Officials Warn of Electrocution Risk from “Backfeeding” of Power Lines
Trenton, NJ – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III today issued a warning to residents regarding the potential dangers of portable generators and “backfeeding” during power outages. An increase in the use of generators is expected with the arrival of Hurricane Sandy in the coming days, raising the importance of educating New Jerseyans on their proper and safe use.
Portable generators, widely used when power lines are down, can prove fatal to homeowners, utility workers and even your neighbors when used improperly. A generator connected to a home’s wiring or plugged into a regular household outlet can cause ‘backfeeding’ along power lines and electrocute anyone who comes in contact with them – even if the line seems dead.
Urges Residents to Take Commonsense Precautions as Movement
of Sandy Continues to be Tracked
Trenton, NJ – Governor Chris Christie today directed cabinet officials to mobilize preparations for a coordinated response to the potential October storm that is trending towards an impact on the East Coast. The Governor also urged New Jersey residents to take the time now – ahead of the storm – to activate and supply their family preparedness plans and to closely monitor the track of Hurricane Sandy.
“While Sandy’s exact track is still uncertain, New Jersey has the potential to experience a major impact from high winds, heavy rain, flooding and power outages,” said Governor Christie. “That’s why it’s important from the State level on down to prepare in advance of this serious storm. The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management’s Hurricane Survival Guide is available to residents online with important information about emergency preparedness. Now, ahead of any potential impact of Sandy, is the time for families to ensure they are prepared and are tuned in for the latest path of the storm for our coast. I encourage all of our families to stay informed, get ready, and reach out to those you know who may be isolated, or in need of extra assistance during adverse conditions.”
The State Emergency Operations Center was activated at 8 a.m. today to coordinate preparations related to the storm.
New Jersey residents can maintain situation awareness in the following ways:
On November 6th, New Jersey voters should vote NO on Public Question #1, which seeks authorization for the state government to borrow $750 million “to build, equip and expand higher education facilities.” The New Jersey Constitution does not allow our state government to borrow money unless the voters approve. As a result, the state legislature was forced to put the $750 million borrowing plan on the November 6th ballot in the form of a public question.
The United States federal government is drowning in debt. Earlier this year, our national debt surpassed $16 trillion. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this debt problem will only grow worse in the future.
Like the federal government, New Jersey state government is also drowning in debt. According to its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, New Jersey state government has over $40.5 billion in outstanding debt. According to www.StateBudgetSolutions.org, when other obligations such as future pension and health benefit payments for public employees are included, New Jersey state government has a total debt of $258 billion. New Jersey’s total debt is now the fifth highest in the nation after California, New York, Texas and Illinois. That debt burden comes to about $30,000 per resident, or about $120,000 for a family of four. County and municipal debts add even more to the total government debt burden facing New Jersey residents.
On three separate occasions in late August, financial analysts from the FEC wrote to the treasurer of the Republican candidate’s principal campaign committee, “Friends of Anna Little”, formally requesting information essential to the full public disclosure of federal election campaign finances. Anna Little is the challenger for New Jersey’s Sixth U.S. Congressional District’s seat.
Letters from the FEC dated 24 August (Ref-1) and 27 August (Ref-2) were similarly themed, indicating that the campaign had provided improper information for an unspecified number of contributors of more than two-hundred dollars ($200) in the “April 2012 Quarterly Report” (Ref-3) and “12 Day Pre-Primary Report” (Ref-4), respectively. The Commission cited that it is unacceptable to have entries with the employer and occupation of “Cash Contributions/Cash Contributions”, “N/A / N/A”, “None/None”, or “Self-employed/Self”. To satisfy the formal requests of the Commission, on 9 October the “Friends of Anna Little” filed documents (Ref-5) and (Ref-6) that provided the missing information that was obtainable along with a description of those best efforts that the Committee made to obtain it otherwise.
The third letter from the FEC, dated 28 August (Ref-7) will raise both your eyebrows, as the Commission points out the serious defects in the Committee’s July 2012 Quarterly Report (Ref-8), including a negative cash balance. The dull-witted among us may immediately conclude that the Committee’s treasurer is “trying to get away with something” because a negative cash balance indicates that somebody has overdrawn an account. However, giving the briefest thought to the matter would reveal the inherent contradiction, “the treasurer illicitly takes the money, but faithfully reports the taking to the FEC for public disclosure.” If one were to apply Occam’s razor, or just some plain common sense, one should conclude that the treasurer simply blundered while filling-out of the form. To further his blunder, he submitted the form without reviewing it. To make his blunder complete, he has no doubt become a recipient of the hairy eyeball (and probably more) from his wife, Anna Little, the candidate. It is clear that the “Friends of Anna Little” recognized the problem and have addressed it, as evidenced by the amended filing (Ref-9) of 19 October.
Since the time of the writing of the three letters, the calendar quarter has ended. In keeping with public disclosure, the “Friend of Anna Little” submitted the September 2012 Quarterly Report (Ref-10) on 14 October. It should be readily obvious to the most casual observer that Anna Little is truly dedicated to governmental openness, honesty, and transparency even when such reveal her warts.

U. S. Senator Bob Menendez was in Belleville, NJ. on September 25 looking for votes from American Veterans and throwing around Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” remark. Menendez likes to contrast himself with Romney. He told the veterans how much he understands them and their lives. What a joke.
How can he? How can a career politician like Bob Menendez play the champion of the “middle class” when he has lived as a member of that most elite of elites, the “political class”, for nearly all of his adult life? In other words, he is that rarity of rarities – a one percenter among one percenters.
Starting out as a young man on the make, Bob Menendez hitched on to corrupt Union City boss Mayor Musto and became one of his ardent henchmen – until a palace coup got rid of Boss Musto and replaced him with Boss Menendez. And what kind of a boss was Bob Menendez? To know the politician, you must go back to his roots, in Union City, back when he had his first taste of power, back when he was Mayor Menendez – boss of Union City.
In the winter of 1988, a story broke about an American veteran, down on his luck, living in low income housing, stuck in Union City. The Record (Bergen County) carried this report on December 9, 1988:
I wonder what we are made of. What sort of lot are we? Last week the Seattle Sea Hawks scored a contested victory over the Green Bay Packers. The game was decided when temporary refs erroneously deliberated a final second play that many observers and fans say stole victory from the hands of the Packers. There was outrage among sports commentators as well as with the players and the fans alike. Before the owners and refs came to an agreement, the players talked of a walk out, the media unceasingly broadcast slow-motion instant replays and there were even reports of Twitter chat inciting violence against the commissioner.
In other news, an American Ambassador was ripped from a sovereign US embassy in Benghazi, Libya by Al Qaeda terrorists on the 11th anniversary of September 11th; he was raped, he was tortured, he was murdered; secret intelligence documents were stolen from him, with the names of Libyans aiding America and not an ounce of righteous anger from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or the Obama Administration condemning either the riots or Al Qaeda’s role. In fact, speaking before the UN, Obama chastised those that would criticize Islam.
For that matter, there’s not an indication of indignation from either Congressman Frank Pallone or from Senator Bob Menendez, despite the fact that Al Qaeda has claimed the lives of numerous people from our local community. The attack on our embassy was yet another act of war on the American people. History has proven that ignoring Al Qaeda incites and emboldens them. Al Qaeda is the perpetrator in Benghazi and yet this President and NJ’s elected representatives refuse to acknowledge the uncontestable fact that Al Qaeda remains a viable threat to us despite Bin Laden’s death. In fact, Obama rejects this reality and the Democratic leadership remains unwilling to hold him accountable.
Nonetheless, the facts are irrefutable. Not only did multiple foreign news sources, from the UK, Israel and Middle Eastern news outlets report that the US had advance warning of the attacks against US embassies, but the personal journal of murdered ambassador J. Christopher Stevens indicates that he was aware that he was the target of a terrorist hit squad and that he feared for his safety and the safety of his fellow Americans. CNN, the source of the contents of Steven’s journal also reports that the Ambassador feared, “a rise in Islamic extremism and al Qaeda’s growing presence in Libya”.
Nonetheless in an alternate reality propped up by our media and the complicit Democratic Party, appearing before the UN Assembly last week, Obama characterized violence in the Middle East as nothing more than “a bump in the road”. And despite reams of definitive evidence that indicates that the attack in Libya was a coordinated terrorist attack by Al Qaeda extremists, Obama has advanced a lie for three weeks, asserting that the violence in Libya was in response to an anti-Islam video on YouTube made by an insensitive American.
Standing before the nations of the world Obama said, “a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity. It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well…”
Just like the football game last Monday night, where there was concrete evidence for the world to see, there is an abundance of irrefutable evidence detailing what happened leading up to Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens abduction and murder. Moreover, President Obama has neglected his duties as Commander In Chief, attending only 38% of his President’s Daily Brief (PDB). Since JFK, every president has attended nearly every PDB, with the exception of Obama. Had he kept his oath to defend our nation he would have fortified our embassies, instead of disarming them with rubber bullets, as has been widely reported by men in the field. America must confront terrorists with force not speeches.
But Obama will not see that justice is done, because to him nothing but a “bump in the road” has occurred. Certainly nothing happened, which would require a military response. But what is most troubling is that too few of us will do anything about it either. If public anger changed the NFL, how much more so could it reform failed foreign policy and revitalize a weakened national security.
What I fear is that we will complain about football, we will complain about our government, but too many of us will sit idly by while Americans are slaughtered in the name of Allah, in the name of YouTube or in the name of apathy and we will not raise our voices in protest, because where there is no righteousness there can be no righteous anger. Is this who we really are?

The mainstream media is gleefully parroting the results of a new Quinnipiac/CBS/NYT poll released yesterday afternoon showing Mitt Romney trailing Barack Obama in three key swing states (PA, OH and FL).
Trailing badly, Save Jerseyans.
But stop the presses! Unfortunately for Romney haters, this poll’s sample was absurdly unrealistic. In fact, an absolutely ideal, hugely historic Democrat turnout model could only exist in David Axelrod’s or Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s filthiest dreams. And we don’t need to go there, nor would we want to.
Do NOT believe the polls, Save Jerseyans! It’s a sick joke. I don’t know if it’s indicative of bias, stupidity, or a base desire to “create” big news and attract an audience. My suspicion is that they’re using 2008 or better-than 2008 turnout models to zap your enthusiasm.
iPad’s are great. Like most Americans who own one, I use mine to check work and personal e-mails. You probably check sports scores, update your Facebook status and send out an occasional Tweet. But you and I wouldn’t dare to think that it takes the place of human relationships and personal interaction. But did you know that President Barack Obama uses his iPad to read the Top Secret President’s Daily Brief (PDB), rather than attend these critical and time sensitive meetings with seasoned intelligence officers in person? Despite the turmoil in the Middle East and elsewhere, author and investigative journalist Bob Woodward recently reported that President Obama does not “regularly attend security briefings”.
According to History.com, PDB’s are like a laundry list of sensitive intelligence matters, configured in order of importance. They are vital lists containing time sensitive data that are pertinent to both our imminent and long-term national security. Each morning the head of the CIA and other intelligence branches are to meet with the President, so that they can explicate in detail any development that would catch the Commander in Chief’s eye. In fact, every President since JFK has attended the President’s Daily Brief in person, with the exception of Barack Obama.
Marc Thiessen and the Government Accountability Institute report that Obama has attended only 38% of all PDB’s in the last 3 years and 9 months.
That’s right, the leader of the free world prefers what amounts to treating America’s national security like a social network, where he can simply log on and log off or change his status to “offline” when he doesn’t want to be bothered with defending the nation. Resorting to simply reading the brief rather than meet with its authors amounts to gross negligence and dereliction of duty.
On September 11th 2012, Al Qaeda operatives stormed the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Terrorists then reportedly raped and murdered US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. Two former Navy Seals were also murdered in the terrorist attack. After the embassy was stormed, a black Al Qaeda flag replaced the American flag.
-Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grill Fined $15,000 and Will Ban ‘Deena’ for Two Years –
TRENTON – The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control today announced a settlement with the owners of Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grill in Seaside Heights in connection with a June 10 incident involving the television show “The Jersey Shore” and cast member Deena Cortese, who was served alcohol at the establishment while visibly intoxicated.
As part of the settlement, Spicy will be fined $15,000 and Cortese, a New Egypt native, will be banned from the restaurant for two years as part of a special condition on the alcohol license, owned by AFW 500 LLC. Also, Spicy faces a 10-day suspension of their license should they violate the ABC’s laws in the next two years.
“This settlement is a cautionary tale for licensees who might think ignoring the law for the sake of airtime is good for business,” said Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control Director Michael Halfacre. “By turning a blind eye to the mayhem that can be associated with reality television, you are risking your livelihood. That is, without a doubt, bad for business.”
