Cullari Issues A Debate Challenge to Little
Ernesto Cullari, the Monmouth County GOP candidate for the 6th Congressional District of New Jersey has issued a debate challenge to former Highlands Mayor Anna Little, the Middlesex County GOP candidate for the nomination.
The Cullari campaign has arranged for a prominent academic venue within the district to host the debate and a prominent member of the New Jersey news media to moderate the debate, subject to Little’s acceptance of the challenge.
If Little accepts, the debate will be on Thursday, May 31, 7 PM, and open only to the press. It will be live streamed on the Internet and recorded for later viewing online.
Cullari issued the challenge via email yesterday, May 25. Little has yet to respond.

Wow….okay, so let me get this right. Cullari and Little were invited to a Tea Party venue to debate and Cullari, claiming to be a tea party conservative, cancels because he felt that because the tea party groups are “allies” it would be hostile territory. There are so many things wrong with all of this. Like the people of the republican “club” aren’t allies?? LOL!! The tea party would have been the most fair in their vetting!
If he was afraid to debate Anna at a tea party meeting, how will he debate Pallone? How will he handle the crazies in Washington?????
Now, he wants to debate in a closed room, with a ….excuse me..”prominent” venue, with a “prominent” moderator. You know, not those red neck, hillbilly tea party folk!
Let me guess…is the “prominent” media moderator someone that is up the arses of the GOP establishment? If I were Anna or her advisors, I would tell them to take a hike! Anna will not get the GOP establishment votes so who gives a hoot (red neck, hillbilly tea party tawk) what they think? I couldn’t be more turned off of the GOP if I tried. The revolution is coming folks. The People have just about had enough. I know I won’t be “live streaming” if it takes place.
Wrong guess Barbara. The scheduled moderator is a member of the professional well established media.
This is a good opportunity for both candidates. It will give the race state wide play.
If I were one of Anna’s advisors, I would tell her to counter offer. Open it to the public, instead of press only. Ernesto would be foolish to turn down that offer.

Well, it’s certainly not up to me. It would be better open to the public, but I still think Ernesto was a chicken to cancel the debate at the tea party venue. I can assure you that I am not alone. I think he is a great patriot for stepping up to represent his state, but I don’t think this will bode well for him.
I received a disturbing email from Morristown Tea Party last week asking Tea Party members to vote for Mitt Romney and to reject the other Tea Party groups whom support Ron Paul for U.S. President. That author wrote that the Tea Party was formed primarily, solely, to unseat President Obama, and that we will most likely unseat Obama by voting for Mitt Romney. I doubt incumbent Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., is willing to debate any contender. To the best of my recollection, Congressman Pallone refused to debate anyone in the prior election campaign. I don’t see why Congressman Pallone would debate Anna Little or Ernesto Cullari if Congressman Pallone once again feels he’ll have no problem being re-elected and therefore it would be a waste of time. I would like Anna Little to accept. I emailed Anna Little’s campaign last time and asked if she supports ending Marijuana Prohbition, but her campaign sent me email to meet her at one of her campaign events at a Diner on Route 35, refused to state her position in the email. As a Ron Paul supporter, I want to extricate the U.S.A. from the United Nations, and Ron Paul introduced a Bill for this. I’d like to know whether she supports same Bill. I shouldn’t have to attend one of her events to receive an answer to a campaign issue!! Yeah, I believe Anna Little should agree to the debate, notwithstanding to Mr. Cullari’s prior declination. To compromise, Anna Little could agree to the debate with the priviso that Ernesto Cullari agrees to debate Anna Little at a subsequent date. I don’t expect to be around after June 5th, anyway, because I’m planning on driving out west, to either Colorado, Oregon, or Washington State, in order to find a place, register to vote, and vote on the November 2012 Election Day for a Marijuana legialization Initiative going on in each of same aforementioned States.
Yes Richard, the reason why Morristown Tea Party sent that out (in a panic!) was because that particular tea party group loves to be loved by prominent members of the GOP. They sent that out, out of fear that the Governor or others in the republican party, would think they actually had the cojones to endorse anyone other than the anointed GOP picks. There were several unchecked statements in his email that I asked him to retract….he has not.
Good idea for Little to counter the offer. For example, why one moderator? Have two — one picked by each candidate, each asking six questions. Open the debate to the public. and also live stream it. Make sure both candidates agree on the venue. Let the public submit questions in advance to the event organizers. The broadcast would be carried on statewide news.
Richard…Pallone did debate Little at least once in 2010. It’s on youtube.
Hopefully both Little and Cullari agree to debate this week. I don’t think its a big deal if there is no audience present (even though it would be nice if they were). Many debates are in tv studios without people present.
Nothing against Mr. Rullo & Mr. Bader but if one candidate is way ahead of another candidate in the polls for a primary election, there just is not a lot of reason for them to agree to debate and give their opponents free publicity that they would not have received otherwise.
@ Bob English.. The only poll out shows Kyrillos losing to Menendez, and an unknown candidate (Rullo or Bader) defeating Menendez.
Rullo got endorsed by the GOP Freeholder candidates in Burlington with other elected officials, and the phone bank calls are indicating a landslide in Rullo’s favor.
However, I do agree with you that he is avoiding any publicity for the other candidates.
@ Bob English.. Correction he was endorsed by Union County GOP freeholder candidates, and Garwood council members.
He has huge presence in Burlington as a past GOP operative with Runyans campaign, and was candidate for several months.
Rullo has state-wide conservative support there is going to be an upset mark my word!

Why has no one, including the Cullari campaign, mentioned that virtually no one that endorsed Little last time is doing it this time?
If you look at the Little site, it lists 2012 endorsements, and 2010 endorsements. Noone from the 2010 list appears on the 2012 list! Why?

Oh, so a Lincoln-Douglas style debate is not professional or useful? That was the venue Mr. Cullari ran from. You cannot duck a debate one day, then try to give the bums rush for a debate on another. Ernesto looked like a hot house flower in ducking the appearance w/Little May 23rd. Despite the Cullari campaign’s attempts to obfuscate their bad judgement, his absence apparently has had some blowback because I noticed the gyrations, twisting and squeeling have ratcheted up. Now this, Ernesto is tarzan, beating his chest and DEMANDING a debate? PALEEEEZE.
I’ve been an Anna Little fan for a long time, but the rest of her supporters are turning me away from her.
Ernesto was not invited to a debate by the Tea Party group. He was invited to a meet and greet.
He found out that a debate was going to break out from some announcement by Little’s camp.
Not being told it was a debate would give any candidate pause about the intentions of the people who are holding the event, telling one side it was a meet and greet and the other a debate, so the latter could prepare and the former would not.
Anyone would be right to wonder if that was a some sort of set up.
The answer as to whether it was an attempted set up was answered when Falzon came on this website and started viciously attacking Ernesto for doing nothing more than finding out about the set up.
Amateur hour.
No one should ever again trust Falzon, his group that claims a Tea Party authority they don’t have, and by extention, Anna Little.

@Freespeaker1976 – The national political figures/organizations/PACS are NOT going to endorse a candidate BEFORE a primary – why would it make sense for a national political figure or organization to get involved in a Congressional Primary fight in New Jersey? With regards to the local Monmouth County elected officials who endorsed Anna’s opponent, many of them endorsed Gooch in the primary in 2010 and then switched over to Little in the general election as they will support whoever the Monmouth County Republican Committee endorses in the primary!

They know that anna was going to be there. They knew the format since all of them had attended meeting with mark’s group before.
Here is a challenge:
Post a copy of the invitation to the May 23rd event that was sent to Ernesto or his team, and let us judge for ourselves if it reasonably led him to belive it was a debate or a meet and greet.
